Completely disagree. Even Thomas needed to put his finger into the wound before he believed. And there were 500 witnesses of Christ who spread the word because they then believed. The shroud is like that - except it beautifully accepts the challenge of modern science and scepticism in the modern age that cannot begin to explain HOW the image was made ... this could lead even the most passionate materialists to second guess their beleifs... The shroud is so perfect for the modern age, I cannot believe anything else other than that is the very reason God chose to create it. To answer your quote - 'evidence will, actually, suffice...'.

We do not require the shroud/totem but we are grateful for it. And so what if it might make people who were never believers or who were on the fence turn to Christ? Maybe that's why he left it.

When i visited the shrout in 2017 with my daughter in turin, she had just become catholic. We could both feel the energy and knew, it was jesus shrout. Tears come to my eyes right now. Thank you,, !!!!

@@dirkjensen969I disagree that this was only about the type of fabric. The scientists were definitely trying to narrow down the time frame in which the fabric was made. And the scientists so far haven’t been able to come up with a method that someone in the Middle Ages could have used to fake the image, even if they used a fabric from the time of Christ. I am not saying you have to believe this was a miracle, but from what I see, the evidence points in that direction, so I believe it. Each person needs to make up his or her own mind. It doesn’t mean a person is due any less respect regardless of what he or she believes about this.

I first came upon the book on the shroud in 1979. Said to myself: "The Lord gave this shroud as a photograph to show Hid resurrection and to remind the people of the 20th and 21st centuries that He did come, died, was buried and rose from the dead. Lots of talk were made by the world to disprove His reality; the world had gone far off the path He had planned for our salvation and for Him to show that He was real would upset their worldly blueprint. So many are trying very hard in our days to contradict Him.
But, Truth cannot be put under a bushel measure or hidden under the bed.
The Lord has risen. He reigns. Alleluia.

It's not Christ's burial cloth. Just read John 20. It doesn't match the description in the slightest.
Myself, I’ve always believed that the shroud of Turin was in fact, Christ’s burial cloth the test done several years back, never dampen my belief, this just proves Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection. Thanks be to God. But it may confirm others in the faith as it has mine.

Also, the thorns around his head go back to Abraham & Isaac. When the angel stopped him from sacrificing Isaac, he said earlier. the Lord would provide the sacrifice. There was the ram whose head was in thorns. So the sacrifice had his head surrounded by thorns.

The 700 year old date happened because they used a sample of the shroud around the edge that was actually a new linen sown into the shroud to repair damage, not a damaged piece of the original shroud.
Yes, also there is not a smidge of paint on the original cloth, the Image had been burned onto it, and there are blood stains. How "scientists" refused to accept its authenticity is beyond me. (But they were biased).
The repair had cotton in it(the test piece) but the shroud was not made of cotton …. That’s why the test was bad…

I always believed, but I see other comments on other channels, usually Protestants, commenting I don’t need an image, saying that Jesus is real, because the Bible tells me he is real! True! But he left us with a beautiful image of himself, though scourged for those who don’t believe.

The shroud not only proves authenticity of the historic Jesus , but also the Resurrection. That’s a major threat to atheism and that’s why so many refuse to accept incontrovertible evidence.

I totally believe what you said about the shroud of Jesus. It is amazing. I had a book on this about 50 years ago and have used this to help people finding Christ. I do want to say that my husband and I went to many Churches when we were young. We found that all of them believed differntly.. my husband and I decided to have home studies when we found 2 verses that turns us around on how we find who is right about teaching. It changed our thinking. In First John, chapter2, verses 26 and 27 taught us who should we should teach us. Well the Holy Spirit only teaches you and do not let anyone teach you, but the Holy Spirit and he will teach you the truth. PRAISE GOD and this way nobody can take the Glory except the HOLY SPIRIT.

Not to rub it in, but the researchers who grossly mis-dated the shroud in 1988 should be publicly shamed. No, it is not acceptable to plead inadequate sampling. That is literally incredible.
It is difficult to understand how those researchers in late 1970s, early 1980s managed to get it wrong : beggars belief in fact.
It was done on purpose. It was no mistake. They got the date they were paid to get.

There may be more to the crown of thorns that we may have missed. In the story of Abraham and Isaac, the substitute sacrifice that was provided in place of his son was a ram caught in a thicket by his horns. When the soldiers placed the crown of thorns on Jesus’ head, they unknowingly proclaimed Him as our substitute sacrifice!

My mind STILL cannot get around the fact that that that amount of very powerful voltage (used to print that 3D-pic of the Resurrection) did NOT SET ON FIRE the whole grass(linen) cloth and STILL HOLDS the SAME characteristics as before, 2000 years ago (as if the fibers are frozen and PREVENTED from decaying). It seems like a very well crafted/designed PHYSICS "experiment" which we CANNOT, in 2024, even conceive let alone reproduce. All of the faithful have KNOWN it is real without certification, as the Samaritans woman by the wel KNEW that the Water JESUS CHRIST was offering her was LIVING WATER!!

I tell this testimony to everyone when speaking about the Shroud of Turin. I was a little girl, about 6 years old, when the Lord Jesus came to see me in my bedroom I shared with my brother at the time. He stood there, saying nothing, but as I looked up from my bed, and then sat on the side of it (so I WAS fully awake at the time!), I realized Who it was and asked the Lord if He wanted to sit down. He shook His head "no" and then just continued to smile at me. I was like, "Okay...", and wondered why He kept looking at me, smiling but saying nothing. I had no idea what He had in mind for me at the time, but I sure found out several years later! I knew without a doubt, it was the Lord Jesus I saw that night. When I made my communion a couple of years later and received a children's Bible with a picture of Jesus with blond hair and blue eyes, I told my mom (who thought I dreamed about seeing Jesus that night--she didn't believe me when I told her) that was NOT the way the Lord Jesus really looked. I remember that "look" on her face like, "Oh no--here 🙄we go again"(mind you, she considered herself a devout Catholic--we went to church all the time), and just dismissed it. Some years later when I first saw a report on the Shroud of Turin, I finally felt I was vindicated--I told my parents to look at this report, and said that THAT was exactly what the Lord Jesus looked liked, the night He appeared in my bedroom! My job today as a Servant of the Most High (I am currently 59 yrs old), is to "inform and warn" like so many of my brothers (and sisters) have done beforehand, and also I deal with Spiritual warfare, learning much from the exorcists, and sharing that information and the prayers that help when people are plagued with spiritual issues, and of course, praying for them (which the enemy hates when I do, and sometimes retaliates!). But I would have it no other way; the Lord called and chose me among many others to do this, and the fact that He appeared to me long ago, letting me know it WAS Him by seeing the story on the Shroud several years later, left no doubt in my mind that the Shroud truly was the burial cloth of the Lord Jesus Christ--just another way He has tried to convince those who need it, that He truly IS Who He said He is--the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE, and the literal LIVING WORD 📖of GOD (Jn 1:1, 14). I am eternally grateful for the Lord Jesus for allowing me to see Him, and have that precious experience that has blessed and strengthened me throughout my life and walk with Him.

Jesus is only depicted as a man with blond hair and blue eyes in the northern hemisphere,in the southern hemisphere he is depicted as being black skinned in Africa,Chinese looking in China etc
Jesus' appearance is depicted as all things to all people of the world,but the real Jesus is middle eastern in appearance.

Taylor, you missed one KEY critical reason: the body is upright vs lying down.
As covered in the recent book, The Holy Shroud of Turin, by Jean-Christian Petitfils.
He provides scientific evidence that the body levitated off the slab and was in an upright position when the image was made. The proof is in the muscle structure of the body in the image.
For example, a body lying on a slab is very flat, especially the buttocks. Not so in the shroud image…full muscle structure as in a living, upright person. The book goes into much greater detail. Only God could have done that!
Yes, and the light marks around the eyes and the position of the shadows is specific to upright position🙏

Muscles do change and rigor mortis sets in after so many hours. That’s my impression of seeing the not flat image. More credence image was created after death shortly after. Body stops bleeding when the heart no longer pumping right. So the exsanguination ends when no more pumped out. Again knowing this scientifically they can guesstimate how many hours or minutes passed when cloth applied to the body. That too will verify it. The hand woven rich linen cloth can last for centuries in a protected state. Why did anyone save the shroud? Because they knew did not believe but knew what it was.
I believe they found an indentation of coins that was place on both eyes. It was a tradition that they put coins on the eyes of the dead. And the coins were dated at Jesus time.
I just added a similar comment. Was surprised Dr. Marshal didn’t include this as one of his reasons.
Jesus shown his Glory to me years ago while watching a t.v. special. There is no earthly word that describes his love for us.

I have always believed in the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. Any artist cannot replicate its uniqueness, and its credibility is further supported by scientific evidence. This convergence of art and science is truly inspiring.
I always believed since day one, the shroud of Turin is authentic no doubt in my mind.
What fascinates me is , how Bernini’s bust of the savior is an exact perfect image of the man in the shroud.
When Bernini was commissioned by the king of France, Louis XIV to make a bust of him, Bernini travelled through Turin at the time when they were having a procession of the shroud and Bernini saw it, and the first thing he said, that’s my Lord, and went on his way, to France.
But When he came back from France when he had completed the bust of Louis the XIV, he started to carve the bust of the savior remembering the image he saw on the shroud of Turin, but how did Bernini know that years later from a photo by Secundo Pia that Bernini bust is the same exact face of the shroud, Bernini was 82 years old when he made the bust of the savior, amazing it blows me away.
I have never doubted the Shroud is authentic. I strongly encourage everyone to watch The Real Face Of Jesus by Ray Downing right here on youtube. It is fascinating and his rendition of Jesus is, in my opinion, exactly what I would expect Him to look like and his explanation of how the image was placed on the fabric is compelling. Glory to God in the highest.

I’m late on the live stream but, I think that Jesus was beaten beyond recognition but this image was not created when they layed his battered body in the tomb. It was created when he was resurrected. He was made new. Just as when he showed up in the upper room the apostles all recognized him and he was alive!

A few comments: ...
1. There's another reason to believe. The image (except for the blood) is only about one or two microns deep into the fabric meaning that it only appears on the very top fibers. This reinforces the fact that there is no paint, ink, dyes or pigments present as these things would soak deeper into the fabric.
2. One explanation as to why the face covering doesn't have an image is that it was removed sometime prior to the sealing of the tomb. The Gospel passage did say that it was rolled up in a place by itself but it didn't say that it was miraculous.
3. I heard that it was common practice for the long edge of the burial cloth to be removed (about an inch or two wide) so that it could be used to wrap up the shrouded body. There is some speculation that the Shroud was still "wrapped up" by that cut piece when it was found. That is why John saw and believed. I'm not sure if that's exactly what happened or not but it does explain some things.
Dr. Marshall, your statement about the 34 Million watts of energy struck me. Such a fact also has Biblical evidence, IMO. See Matthew, Mark and Luke for the recount of The Transfiguration of Jesus along with Moses and Elijah 🔥

also Dr Marshall, all (all!) iconography and art-work of the crucifixion in the Middle Ages and since, had Jesus nailed in the hands, but the shroud has wounds in the wrist. We now know, anatomically, the wrist is where you would nail someone in Roman crucifixion, as the body's weight on the hands would cause the body to fall, whereas nails through the wrist, the wrist bones there hold the body up. An artist in 1300's would not know this. Add this to all the other evidence, the Catholic Church is in possession of physical evidence of the resurrection of Jesus.
🙏 I am under the impression that in the ancient language the word translated into English as "hand" actually included the broader connotation that would refer to what we would in English call the "wrist," and therefore, anyone who would view the reference to the word "hand" as a discrepancy would be mistaken, as the same word was used to refer to both areas...

I know many of the scientists and historians who have done much work on the Holy Shroud. There is a clear timeline from the Holy Land to Edessa to Constantinople to France to Turin. This has been well documented. Many of us were well aware that something was wrong about the testing of the Shroud that gave a Middle Ages date, that included the person who invented the C-14 test. In any case, I find it most interesting that now, new scientific evidence comes out that this is in fact a 2,000 year old cloth. We are in a most critical time period and God seems to be speaking on His Holy Shroud. He wants as many of us as possible to come to Him now in these terrible times.

The possibility that it could be a painted forgery is discounted by the simple facts that there are NO brushmarks, No pigment and the image is on the very surface of the linen cloth with NO impregnation into the fabric. At the time the image was purported to having been forged, (the middle ages), there was no way other than painting to render an image on linen. Therefor not a forgery.
@@murphyorama the image bored into the cloth can only be recreatd by a sudden burst of light equivalent to a nuclear radiation…. No such techology exist in the 12th to 18th century.

There was a fire, shroud was damaged was repaired with fabric from the 1300's, which was unknowingly used for carbon dating.

The face cloth has no image because the image was imprinted on the Shroud during the resurrection.

As an avid student of philosophy, I always looked at the crucifixion of Jesus as being a relatable historical context of an oppressive government. Jesus being the one to teach enlightenment and self awareness throughout civilization. This was a threat to the government at the time. But this securing that the shroud is approximately 2000 years old is actually very shocking. We are almost to the point of technological advancement where we can just about recreate images from the past merely using dna and other smaller organic matter. This is truly ground breaking and hard to wrap one’s head around.
I had heard that there was evidence in the shroud that for the image to appear there had to be so many thousands of photons of light that is only recently possible to recreate.
when we observe egg and sperm joining in union there also is a flash of light that science cannot explain.

Carmelite Sr. Geneviève of the Holy Face, in 1904 had painted the Holy Face of Jesus from a photographic negative she'd made from the Shroud of Turin. Her painting, in shades of gray for better reproduction, won the Grand Prize at a religious art contest. Pope St. Pius X sent her a large medallion. But he didn't know her name, as she had only painted "Carmel et Lisieux" in one bottom corner. She is one of the sisters--by blood--of St. Thérèse🌸 of Lisieux! Her real name is Céline Martin, and she is the one responsible for all the photos of St. Thérèse🌸 and the other sisters in that Carmel.

Study has shown that there are at least 70 points of correlation of the Shroud of Turin and the Sudarium of Oviedo. I know there is a time limit on this video but more time should be taken

Are there any other shrouds from that time period that it can be compared to?? Also, was it typical for most crucified people to also wear a crown of thorns? Jesus was the only one to have worn a crown of thorns. So that also proves it is really Jesus. Jesus died such a horrible death for us.
