I love Hurrem and Mahidevran’s expressions when Mehmet says he saved Mustafa. They seem confused and humbled at the same time. Like they’re thinking “aren’t they supposed to be enemies like us?”
Mahidevran was bitter but Hurrem wasn’t any better. Literally the freaking fight was between them, their children loved and respected each other since the moment hey came into the world. So sad how your bitterness and animosity can poison someone else.
To be fair to both of them here, they were the two women who had to face the full implications of the fratricide law. They did their fair share of bad things, but they did what they had to to protect their kids.
What a cunning woman Hürrem was! She started the conversation with accusations to Mustafa about Helena, later to Mahidevran and ended with these "great" love which had for Suleyman and used, of course, her tears to "melt" him! She was an absolutely manipulator and Suleyman was a doll in her hands!!
@Dreamfyre2 Exactly this. I believe there's an effort to hand wave it with a mention of it being "one of" the seals of the Safavid dynasty (with, I think, the implication that it's a lesser known one?) but, honestly, when they numbered among Suleiman's greatest enemies at that time it kind of stretches the limits of disbelief a little too far that he wouldn't be able to recognize it.

Did some quick double checking on this (by which I mean I phoned a very helpful Turkish friend 😅) and, despite the occasional archaic sounding word, the cast is pretty much just speaking modern Turkish. (But, a possible fun fact: Hürrem's use of _arslanım_ or "my lion" is a direct historical reference since concubine mothers used it to refer to their sons in letters.)

I really want to know if the Turkish language spoken in this series is the same as today's modern Turkey Turkish. Anyone know ?
Someone told me it's similar, the language of 1550s in ottoman empire is similar to today but not 100% same

Hurrem has always been this cunning to get everything she wanted
And wrapped Suleman around her fingers to kill Mustafa

Mustafa loved his brothers and sister it is to bad the parents got in the way of this.
It's more the very nature of the Ottoman Empire that got in the way rather than the parents themselves.
Hahahahaha yea sure we all know what will happen if Mustafa becomes sultan. He will end them all and send mihrimah sultan to old palace.
