- In this video, an African American lawyer, Markus Green, explains why he chose to become a Ghanaian citizen.
Markus Green is an American lawyer who has chosen to become a Ghanaian citizen. In this video, Markus explains why he made this decision and how it has affected his life. Markus discusses the positive aspects of Ghanaian citizenship, including its strong sense of belonging. He also discusses the challenges of living as a black person in the United States, and how being a Ghanaian is very important for him. He graced The Dentaa Show to share his experience. He said, 'I am American by Force but a Ghanaian by CHOICE'
The ‘Year of Return, Ghana 2019’ was a kickstart campaign to bring foreigners, particularly from the black diaspora, to Ghana, as visitors or as tourists. This would bring in fresh skills and capital, and place Ghana more firmly on the global map as a key destination spot.
It has been three years since Ghana hosted ‘The Year of Return, Ghana 2019’, a year-long program of activities marking the 400th anniversary of the first recorded enslaved Africans to the US.
On the 22nd of December 2022, Ghana granted citizenship to over 100 African Americans and Afro-Caribbeans as part of the Year of Return. Mr. Markus Green was also a Ghana citizenry recipient and Part of the Celebration.
Markus Green who is a Lawyer sits on Many Boards and also serves as an Assistant General Counsel, for Pfizer, Inc., the world’s largest Pharmaceutical Company. At Pfizer, Mr. Green helps lead the Government Litigation Group of the Legal Department. As part of Government Litigation, Mr. Green works with local, state, and federal prosecutors.

This makes me a proud African (from Angola)!! We are one people! 🇦🇴❤️ 🇬🇭
Yes we are one people, proud to be African
Peace and Wellness
Salute 👊🏽
Yes we are, love from Ghana, God bless you dear
LUDMILA B.
Not really. But we can work together though
Speaking of “made in Ghana” products, I have started wearing from time to time my Ghanaian professional outfits to corporate and management meetings at my company in the US. I feel proud being a Ghanaian in the US and I agree Ghana should keep promoting the country and get folks to come and visit and experience this wonderful country.
I am also definitely waiting on Ghana Airlines, what a privilege that will be!
Best Attire EVER ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
I’m sure your Ghanaian attire brings a positive and inspiring energy to your corporate environment. It’s important that we represent the elegance and beauty of Africa to balance the unfair stereotypes that have prevailed. ❤️💫🌍
Oh wow
@The Crimson Cure tells the truth about Black Women that’s your opinion my friend! We all have the right to pursuit of happiness wherever we find ourselves. Please think a little bit outside the box.
@Kuukua Ocansey you can get some African-touched-fabric hoodie
Am Nigerian I prayed for this day when I read on time magazine that our brothers wanted to come back home and am happy to see this , that our people are actually finally coming home. Welcome bro 🙏
No need to change the minds of those who do not want to change. Leave them alone. Those who want to know will seek the information. Let us focus on those who want to connect.
Exactly.
@@mitzi4043, Thank you very much!

Myself and 3 family members have booked tickets to be there in April. I'm so excited! It's like a dream. Never even thought about Africa until about 2 years ago, now it's a strong desire in my body to go.
Motherland is waiting for you and your family..... Safe journey!!
Be prepared to be scammed and tooken advantage of. They just want your money.
@@suffolk6311 a I’ve been to Accra nine times since 2008. I’m from North Carolina but was a UN Volunteer in Liberia so I enjoyed many vacations in Ghana. I had amazing experiences and enjoyed myself each visit. And I have never been robbed or scammed. So do not listen to commenters who are trying to deter positive thoughts about Africa and discourage people from vacationing in Africa.
@suffolk6311 you are a scammer. You scammed a lot of people around check yourself
Do it. Your ancestors are calling. Do not look back.

Oversupply of teachers in Ghana but depends on the subject
He is so wise and educated! We need people like him to lead the way!
@MARKUSGREEN is full of Knowledge and wisdom..
Total nonesense. Are you saying there are no Ghanaians better educated than him and more QUALIFIED than him to lead the way? Why do a lot of you Ghanaians have this inferiority complex and low self esteem? This is very alarming.
@@benbo7042 First of all, why do you assume I’m Ghanaian? Second of all, why can I not praise a fellow black person? Third of all, if praising a black person in your eyes diminishes other black people than I feel extremely sorry for you. You need help!
@@Ari-jq5mj You hate the truth and praise lies. People who don't do their own research and believe everything any Tom, Dick , and Harry puts on RUclips for views are not to be taken seriously.

That made absolutely no sense what you said. "I can tell he's african american" is the dumbest thing I've heard in 2023. We don't have a specific look.
Oh , anything Ghana they poke their nose in.
Bro say it loud am watching from stuttgart Germany l feel great. All we need is unity
Yes we do
Thanks for this interview. I needed some encouragement and Markus Green captured so well the feeling of oppression and the impact on self in white societies. And it turn shared in such an inspiring way how living in Ghana has made him feel free.
This’s so beautiful and emotional. We thank God and the spirit of our ancestors for directing our brothers and sisters 👯♀️ in the diaspora back home.May God bless you all and always feel at home.Dentaa be thou blessed sis.❤❤❤ you

Totally amazing, I know exactly how he feels. Everytime I step foot in Haiti there's spiritual mystery feeling that comes over you and watch the people that became a Ghanaian citizen I can totally relate Ghana is in my bucket list to visit. Hello brother and sisters I love you all 🤎🖤
He looks Nigerian ,am proud of what Ghana is doing, Africa has so many resources , to enhance ,and not allowing white racist to take them away from Africa , we need to produce everything here in africa
Yeah. He looks Ibo. He looks nice in that dress. They need to come home.

I’m just in awe of this man…just brilliant. If this first wave of diasporans going back to Ghana and Africa overall, there are about 1,000 people just like him spread throughout Africa…wow…Africa will definitely progress so much.

I feel for the African Americans. Am in a relationship with one. It's sometimes overwhelming. They suffer from racism where they are born. They are happy when they come. Yet when doing errands here, they also face the challenges of being recognised as Americans from their look and then having to pay higher prices. And then the moment they make new friends here with local people, the later are mostly requesting for money money and help about how to move to America.
@Naa Naa, Ghana media and the schools has to educate the citizens.

Wow Dantaa,,rumbo in evolution, you are Ghana real celebirity,
Welcome home brother
Great interview🫡
Thank you Dentaa….39k children sitting on the floor to study while in school….another way to help is by engaging the Officials, Executives in charge of those areas, including the Govt Minister….oftentimes, SADLY, money is earmarked for these projects and there’s NEVER AN AUDIT or proper accountability….when we get the right leaders in place; the Africa of our desires-esp of the exposed Diaspora….would begin emerge!
The West couldn’t care one way OR the other, they’ll respond with aid!!
well said however, Our LEADERS is a whole topic all together.. Let us forget about them for now and do what we have to do until WE become the leaders,..
Also, you must re-evaluate what you believe “AID” to be. The U.S. government agency USAID is not about “philanthropic AID”. It stands for “United States Agency for International Development”. So “AID” means obtaining access to foreign trade, commerce, markets and basically making MONEY. Stay discerning. ❤️💫🌍
@@HoneyBunches100 agree! Not all aid is useless and I think it’s become a dirty word in the last couple of years 😂!
