Beautiful absolutely beautiful!
Love this video, Mel 🦚🦜🦆
I have been buying Neocolor II open stock for a while now. I am up to 32 so far. I have been trying to buy the ones only found in the largest set. My plan is to buy everything above the 40 set open stock then buy the 40 tin to complete the set. While in the end it may cost more at $2.25 a piece, it is so to speak easier on the budget gradually than doing all at once. Personally my favorites are more to the cool range, but I do love the earth tones too. My favorites are Chromium Oxide Green, Golden Ochre, Olive Brown, Aubergine, Indigo, Periwinkle Blue, and Dark Green. Well done, must try this art idea. Honestly I can't draw even a stick figure correctly..abstract may be a new calling. I love to do zentangle, maybe I can find an ink pen that can draw over these...
That moss green ❤
Just yummy art haul and very nice abstract pieces!
Thank you I enjoyed that :)
Lovely pictures and loving those crayons 🖍 🤗
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for the tips with the different media.
You're welcome and thank you for commenting.
Love watching your swatch and the abstract art!!! 🌈❤
thank you!
Really enjoyed this Mel!
Thanks Sandi!!
Really nice colour selection, Mel! So reminiscent of the Cornish landscape. And what a find - it's fantastic that you can buy some of the supplies you love locally! Loved the abstract art too. x
I know it was such an unexpected find and really happy I popped in to see what they had. Thanks Natasha, abstract art isn't my usual bag but glad I did it, felt like I was playing xx
I love watching your hands moving freely and marking those marks confidently. Something about it is really inspiring.
Ah thankyou ☺ glad to hear
Oooo that jade and the turquoise! Beautiful!😍x
Beautiful aren't they? Couldn't resist 🙂
Lovely choice of colours. I like you get your hands right in there. :) I like the abstract test pieces. Very inspiring. Have a nice weekend.
Thank you 😊😊😊 it was really fun to use my hands instead of a brush!
Happy Birthday 🎉 What a fun idea.
Thankyou for your birthday wishes Jacqueline
Happy birthday Mel, I pray Gods richest blessings for you, Michelle from Australia
Thanks so much Michelle 😘
Happy Birthday! I've enjoyed watching this whilst working on my own drawing at the same time...and I've added a few more colours to the ever-growing wish list! 😂
Thank you Emily! Really nice to hear that you were working on your own drawing too- I know I do the same!
Happy Birthday Melanie. Hope you have a wondeful day on the day. You chose some really lovely colours that do evoke summer. I am luck enough to hve a full set of the luminance pencils,I think they are a fantastic brand of pencil. I am the smae I go to buy one colour in a medium, but end ou loving other colours too so end up buying more!. I love that you created some liitle abstract pieces, they looked great,I'm an abstract painter my self so this made me happy to see.I agree the Neocolor II are a good suppliment to the Lyra crayons. You got them at a great price too. I prefer to by colours individually as you can uild up your own palletes. The crayons and pencils worked well together in the skechtbook pieces. I am really loving the Lyra crayons they are so versatile ands for a mixed media artist they are a brilliant edition to my cache. Thank you so much for inspiring me to invest in a set they have alreday become a staple in my working.
I wonder if we are drawn to crayons because they invoke colouring with crayons as a child, I do find get the sane pleasure of using the Lyra crayons as I did as a child.I think like Natasha you also have a realy good eye for choosing colours and putting them together.Have a great weekend. (Matt)
Thankyou Matt. I did, a pasty for lunch and a sketch of the view on a sunny day in Cornwall. Glad you like the colour palette too. Haha glad you think so on the abstracts- wasn't sure how they'd turn out! I think you're on to something with the crayons reminding us of childhood- I definitely get a lot of joy out of using them, especially if I'm scribbling.
Happy Birthday. Enjoyed watching ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you 🤗
Very exciting loved the art hall and abstract artwork is beautiful too and happy birthday Mel! Thanks for sharing🌺
Thanks so much Deborah 😊 Thanks for your birthday wishes too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FELLOW JUNEITE ....mine was the 7th 🎂🎉
Yay! My favourite time of year is June and Summer, hope you had a lovely birthday too Michelle!
Loved watching this. I think I might have a go at doing little abstracts in my sketchbook too. Happy Birthday!
You should definitely. And thanks so much for your Birthday wishes!
Congratulations on your birthday! 🎉 It was mine too this week, and of course bought myself some art supplies. Love the little abstract squares next to your swatches. It is a brilliant idea to play with colours and new supplies.
Thank you 😊 and happy June birthday to you Tersia, hope you're enjoying your new art materials too.
Happy birthday enjoy 🥳
Thank you!
First happy birthday ! I Totally love the colors you’ve chosen from the Caran d’ache neocolor 2. One of my favorite Things is to pick up a few neocolor 2 when I visit an art store. They are very expensive as a set but in smaller amount is kind of ok (well it feels more okay). I love all the abstract pieces you created in your sketchbook ! Have nice birthday month & love week !
Thanks for your birthday wishes! It did feel like a treat to buy these but really glad I did.
Thanks for this review. The crayons seem to be quite versatile. But I was surprised how scratchy sounding the luminance pencils were, so I won't be getting those😏 (I do love the inktense pencils and how very saturated those colours are)💖
They are very versatile and will work well with my lyras. Some of them are definitely more scratchy, but then some of them are also very creamy too! Did the sound go through you then? Yes, Inktense wins for saturated colours every time!!
This is such a lovely color palette!! And Happy Birthday! 🥳🥳
Thank you!! 😊
loved watching this! Would love to know your thoughts on how the Neopastel compares to the Lyra. Neopastel is SO expensive in South Africa and we can't buy them individually only in the sets so I've been toying with saving up for the Neopastels or just getting the Lyra which are way more affordable. Would love to know how you feel they compare.... thanks
The lyra are comparible and definitely more affordable if you can't buy the neocolor singularly. They both have similar creaminess and dilute well with water. Some are more pigmented than others but to get started would certainly recommend.
@@MelanieChadwick thank you!
Wonderful film Melanie! A belated happy birthday 🥳 Nothing better than gifting yourself art supplies! I was wondering if using the Neocolors as a background would work to layer ink over?
Thank you Johanna! I think that would work, definitely if you used liquid acrylic ink, might have to give it a go!
