To believe, you must have something to believe. Belief is not a gift, but a response to the Gift. What was the Gift? Grace. What is Grace? That while we were yet enemies of God, He sent his Son to die for our sins. He was pierced for our transgressions. Jesus was the Gift. Not the belief. Belief leads to faith, and faith puts belief into actions. Those actions are called "works". Are we saved by works? No. We are saved by Faith alone.
