I always want to know who the offhand mentioned people are. 20:15 NANCY REDMAN. Found this online from 2004-10 after Rodney died: "Nancy Redman, emcee and longtime performer at Dangerfield's, the upper East Side comedy club the comic opened in 1969, recalled his last performance there in August. "The crowd went crazy," she said. "Talk about respect, the love was overwhelming."
One of my favorite WTF episodes. Rock seems like such a smart likable guy. I remember watching him on SNL with my dad when I was a kid. So many great comics from the early 90s were on that show.
Marom spent the first hour proving Chris's point about how certain white people only want to hear black people talk about race or imitate famous black people. He tried 50 different ways to get Chris to say SNL was racist even though he said over and over that they weren't. Chris has so much else to say about things other than race. Too bad Maron didn't realize it until the end of the interview.
"Dave Chappelle is the only man that puts fear in my heart. " He's funny as fuck. We went up back to back and he was clearly the funnier " Chris Rock is so humble and cool.
I want so badly for both Marc and Chris to revisit the Cosby part of this interview now...because nothing should change the fact that he was the greatest comedian ever- his work stands separate. But sure as shit it changes the perspective of him trying to call Rock to the carpet over his use of foul language and content...
You cannot call cosby the greatest comedian ever. You just can't. He may be the greatest to YOU. But not EVERYONE. Comedy is like music or art, its all subjective.

Loved it..only thing that kind of irritates me is that maron like most Americans attributes every little nuanced behavior of Chris Rock to be being black..."Is that a black thing?"...before doing the interview he looked up "black comedy"..lol like wtf?
hahaha you kids. I agree though blue; he's a comedy PERFORMER/writer, not _necessarily_ a naturally funny person like Eddie Murphy, dave chappelle or louis ck. Doesnt mean he's not as good on stage though
The fuck does this even mean? “Michael Jackson is a good dancer on stage, but not when he’s sitting in a chair...” “He’s a tough bastard in the ring when he’s Boxing, but when he’s outside of the ring he’s a sweet heart..which means, he’s not tough at all. Paper tiger” Ultimate example of not being able to separate what someone DOES from who they ARE “Da Vinci was a great painter as an artist when he was painting, but wasn’t when he wasn’t...which means, he’s not good at art. Apparently you've never seen him on the Howard Stern show. He's funny period. It's nice to see him have a serious side too, like this interview. He's a smart guy. I personally am annoyed at comedians who feel they need to perform at all times. He, and Norm Macdonald are the two funniest guests I've seen on the Stern show, so he's funny as hell off stage too.

Chris Rock is funnier.
@@gheller2261he’s more consistent. Chappelle in the ‘00s smokes him
Fred Stoller is hilarious that’s so funny Eddie Murphy still asks about him haha
“We’re in the era of cable television” wow this really was JUST before everything became streamable
53:07 In retrospect, it is BEYOND ironic, bizarre, whatever you want to call it, that Cosby has any issue with blue comedy.
good interview. chris was my first exposure to stand up comedy and i've been a fan both of him and the industry ever since.
One of the funniest men in the whole world admits someone else is funnier . I love Chris Rock for the ages.
Andy Griffith was a stand up comic . I can barely remember this. Chris is so cool.
Now I want to order an iced tea, just so I can ask for it like Chris

@@denisemarie7991 it’s subjective but talent is talent. There’s a reason most top comedians reference his significance.
That was just wildly entertaining and enlightening.
Racist
Excuse me Fuck face?
" I'm the kid in ' A Bronx Tale ' " referenced twice now. "My biggest talent is I know when to shut the fuck up " Chris Rock
Sure wasn't dodging slaps bahhhhha
Except: I don’t remember ever laughing hysterically at Cosby. Richard - big transcendent laughs!!!
Exactly
I remember laughing like that CONSTANTLY to Cosby.
57:45 700 people in a club is insane.
what is Chris taking an hour to eat...
Maron is exceptional here.

How old is this? How long before all the Cosby stuff was exposed?
He didn't know the difference between Will and Roy Rogers......
LOL.
All the love for Cosby and Woody! Not aging well..
Chris you sell yourself short man.
You're the best.
This is such an insidery conversation that it's hard to maintain interest
how morally bankrupt are you to miss every point of interest .

Chris rock is hilarious on stage....but not funny in an interview. Which means...hes not funny. Paper tiger.
