got tears in my eyes !!! you and cotts are my favorite, i follow you since you started guys !!! even fucking moved in australia !!!! i want you to mix all tracks imma tell you all my favorites of you and cotts ! :)
No it is not.. eh.. If you wont to learn with something then use the best don't be using shit. And Serato is just as easy as Virtual DJ but it doesn't suck. Many more effects and much more organized. Virtual DJ was designed for people who don't have a midi controller, and only use a PC.. If some one has a Midi controller they shouldn't be using something so shity.
what's wrong with using sync? The whole point of DJing is mashing 2 songs together and doing smooth transitions from one song to another and if there is a computerized way to accurately do that, I don't see why it's cheating. Just because technology makes beatmatching easy as a sync of a button doesn't make MIXING any less of an art.
@CypressNoob1 What you're looking at are two Stanton STR8.150 turntables, two serato timecode records, serato, djm-909, a CDJ-400 beneath that and probably another at the left of the turntables...and a macbook pro... I'll let you google for exact pricing, but it's about $5k in gear.
@DjRavine How do you connect ya vinyls to laptop so you can drag and drop songs to each platter without paying ashit load of money? :) or do u av to get tht traktor software? :/ if anyone could help me owt be much appreciated :)
@MegaJayson13 He uses Serato Scratch live, not Virtual DJ. Professionals dont use use virtual dj, most beginners use VDJ with their controllers, but if you have turntables, you'll want to be using Serato.
Hey Ravine!, what track did you use to scratch on, on the right turntable? at 6:40 Seems like no matter which acapella/track I use to scratch it never sounds as sick as it could be!
@CypressNoob1 $500 US Dollars each.... not including Slip Mats, Vinyl, Needles, and all the other stuff like his mixer, laptop, midi controller, and SL1
@CypressNoob1 The turntables can be anywhere from $222 to $1600. The mixer in the middle is about the same; anywhere from about $150 to $1600 (or more).
You record the video with a video camera. You can then record the output from the mixer with its in-built soundcard, or with VCR cables from the recording outputs to an external soundcard which is linked to your computer's USB port. You will then need software, such as Audacity, to record the input of your USB connection from the mixer. Then all you do is synchronise the video and music in a video editting software.
@xXterjooXx :) yup :) uncle had a pair back about 4 years ago they cost £700 a pair lol now you can find them way cheaper but man they have beeen about for years like when i was a kid back in the day i was born in 1995 and my parents had a pair and they are still about today :) but what is this traktor kontrol s4 is it a usb dj controller ? i prefer cdj for usb aswell as standard djaying im getting a cdj400 blue edition for £90 full working the lot :)
3 mens met together. the 1. say im the best swimmer of the world, he looked in the Guinnss World records book and yes hes the best. The 2. say im the strongest man of the world, he looked in the Guinnss World records book and yes he was the strongest. The 3. say im the best Dj of the world he looked in the Guinnss World records book, but he see not his name. He say WTF who is Dj Ravine!? sry for my bad english im german
@urbex2007 lol, i was just looking for an example of pretentious the other day, this sums it up nicely, lol. a few things wrong in your comment, but im just gonna go ahead and point out the one that no one else has, record, short for recording, means an item or collection of data, what you mean is vinyl. as others said you can still buy them, these are obviously blank used for the purpose of scratch live. but vinyls are still produced, youd be surprised how many artists still produce them.
@urbex2007 You obviously know nothing about djing, because you can still buy vinyl, yes, it may be hard to find a place that sells it, but believe me, it's still out there. Second of all, He's using control vinyl and a program called serato scratch live(look it up). Notice how he doesn't change the vinyl on the turntables at all? That's because all the music is on his computer, but the mechanics are still the same except instead of changing the vinyl, he just changes the song on his computer.
@bboxdp In order of use: Hello - Martin Solveig feat. Martina Sorbara (Dragonette) Only Girl (In the World) - Rihanna Fever - Cascada Hold it Against Me - Britney Spears Like a G6 - Far East Movement ft. Dev, the Cataracs as for the songs used as background beats, I can't be 100% sure. Some of them were parts taken from the song used over again, especially at some points where he scratches.
I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but normally when I do mixes like this I practice them beforehand so I can memorize the slight adjustments I have to make to the pitchfader. Even without practicing the mix, he should still be able to beatmatch those songs because the bpms are already within like 1 beat of each other.
Umm.. I know that and if you mix two songs it makes one song, no? Thats what I meant about making songs, dude. And I never mentioned anything about being a producer so, yeah. And like you said that "its not about making songs" then I MIXED songs and not all the time is about mixing remixes. Also dont tell me what all this is like im some idiot, because.. im not...
Right there with you. Now I will admit to barely being able to do anything, I wouldn't do vinyl live at a show unless I had to. I could beat match, and that is about it. But, I could mix with it, and that is the important part. A real dj can do a great show no matter the medium even if it is just the basic mix, because it's not the tricks that are important, but the music.
Nah, not the only way to go, just the old school way to go and a skill that all dj's should have at least on a rudimentary level. Being a dj is an art, screw anybody that says otherwise. Limiting yourself to just turntables is like a painter limiting themselves to only three colors. I would rather use all the tools at my disposal.
@regard60 i have nothing wrong with using a pc while mixing, but i fucking cant stand it when peole just use there laptops only record mixes with like virtual dj and put them on youtube and call them selves dj's and for the record, if you didnt know that was serato then you havea long way to go because any real dj out there would knwo what that is ina instant
@NIVAD84 i guess you do your hair different every day then? lol, in all seriousness though, i really dont think many djs will stray too far from their foundation style, i mean really its better to be really kickass at 1 thing, then mediocre at lots of things, no one gets paid for being average, he found his style, it works for him, power to him
@olusia16mc tracklisting 1. Martin Solveig - Hello (Nock off nigel remix) 2. Keyes vs Hyperforce - Only girl in the world 3. Cascada - Can't get enough (Squad-E remix) 4. Anonymau5 - Hold it against me (Ravine's Dub First Edit) 5. FM - Like a G6 (Essi VS Ravine hardcore remix)
I LOVE YOU MUSIC. ITS TOTALLY OFF DA HOOK. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU CAN DO A 2011 DANCE MIX. ALL THE MAINSTREAM DANCE HITS FROM AMERICA. I AM FROM TRINIDAD. I LOVE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC. PLEASE REPLY. I AM A DJ AS WELL HERE IN TRINIDAD. I AM LOOSING TO BRING TRINIDADS PARTY MUSIC TO AUSTRALIA
@JosephCee He uses Serato. Virtual DJ is good for beginners. Then once your comfortable with DJing you should chose between TRAKTOR or Serato. Both are very similar. They pump out the same audio quality and all that it just comes down to what interface you like using and looking at better! enjoy
this guy is awsome i love your music. teach me please.i need meed your turntables.give me lke e your turntables for i can be like u.i bet u would get famise with your music and also i saw all your videos you are u are great, and i loved the will it blend again
Outstanding mix, don't know how anybody can afford to use actual turn tables, the friggin' needles and shit start around 100 bucks for the cheep peaces of shit. I will stick to my NS6 and itch. Mad props to you though this is a great mix.
@Markitoz818 Thats is soooo wrong. They're 2 Stanton STR8-150's, which run about $500 each ($1000 a pair), and Pioneer DJM-909 mixer, Serato (The program running on screen and soundcard) $500, and effects controller which is about $300.
@1994SHOtime Yeah, and i respect that, i just wish that Dj Bl3nd would do more in his videos. I mean, all he does is dance around in his videos, and yet he gets tons of views. i think that he should have more behind his videos then him just dancing around.
@johnnyturntable There is actually a video of Dj Qbert reviewing and comparing both Serato and Traktor, id look it up, i personally use Traktor and i like it, but ive never used Serato, so i dont know which i would prefer. but yeah look up that video.
hey ravine, i wonder... whats that little device standing on your left vinyl, it it a camera?? i need one of those which can record hours of mixing.... let me know the model or type of device please... thank you
guys i have been inspired by ravine to attempt to start djing as a first mix i have made this watch?v=zgSRjnoFpqc if possible i would like any help possible in order to learn and start to progress along a path of djing
Also thanks to those guys who played Starcraft 2 with me while I waited for my tracks to resume downloading! Due to Australia's shit quality internet. Gillard you idiot, hurry up with whatever youre doing.
hey Ravine :D is it possible to have a Download for the Hold it Against Me Remix?(without the Scratching part. the scratch is cool but i would like to hear the non-scratch version) if its possible, Many thanks ^^
i dont understand y people say that those who use sync button are noobs?why do you have to complicate your work when you can just press one button?mixing is not just about mixing using pitch bend!
you're not mixing top 40, you're remixing remixes of top 40 songs. Thats what i'm getting of this. which is fine... but very different than mixing actual original top 40 songs.. which is wayyy harder.
@godslyaer Looks to me like 2x Stanton STR8 150's, a pioneer DJM-909 mixer. The program is called Serato Scratch Live. Its pretty similar to Traktor in the way he uses a soundcard and two control vinyl.
@JosephCee yeah man anytime! If you ever needs some tips and tricks email me at b.newey@xplornet.com..or check out ellaskins channel! He has some great info for those who want helpful tricks to DJing!
Yo, ravine, what program do you use? is that traktor pro? i wanna get a good dj program. i was thinking about virtual dj, they have the time code vinyls too. which program would you recommend?
@MrZhare I dont know about the turntables, but that mixer typically costs around $1200, and the mac is around $1500 if im not mistaken, and a serato box (and software and vinyl) typically costs 700
Nice blending... Did u make those remixes? If so what program did u use? Acid? Intros and outros for songs makes the blend alot smoother. Singles are alot of fun too lol just have to be more creative.
at 9:08 when you start the section loops in G6. How are you getting back to the song without starting from the loops? Are they premade cues? i work on a Torq Xponent and it wont seem to let me do that.
i write songs on guitar and sing but i must say your one of the only dj's that i actualy like!! haha makes me think of getting into it for some extra dosh :) its all music :) love music!!
@tofusauce most likely some kind of midi controller.... there are countless number of other bits of kit like it that you can use to control anything you like in traktor/serato/ableton etc etc
heey ravine i have a small question regarding saerato: i see that as soon as you select a track it instantly starts playing, wich feature do i have to click in the options menu to get that as well?
TEACH ME YOUR WAYS OH GREAT DJ MASTER! But srsly I am learning how to DJ and I have made like 3 songs but theyre nowhere near this but I guess theyre pretty good in my opinion.
Whats he doing when he like scratching and pressing buttons but i cant hear anything change sometimes? :D im stupid of this things but youre good dj keep on going! sorry bad english!
@TalentedStranger if ur a beginer use cdjs not turntables then once u get good switch over to turn tables but if u really want turn tables technique 1200s are pretty standard for clubs
@agentsparx sounds a lot better... but i wont change my opinion about his music, everybody has to accept critics. and at least i dont pretend ot be a dj so i dont have to do better.
@megamosh123 kandi. and yes we exchange kandi. we trade Kandi cuffs. and if u meet the Kandi Crew, they take ur hand and slide it from their wrist to urs, feels real good when ur rolling
@chikenlil132 Only place I've seen it was on trackitdown . com (can't link on YT) and they called it Hell Oh. The sample sounds like it is the right song, expensive song though.
Great as per usual, but I must wonder why people want you to you top 40 music. I her top 40 music everywhere, it is nice to be introduced to new songs through your mixes.
first 3 songs sound like they are beeing played like +20 % or so ... in my opinion does not sound 2 good anymore ... nice mixing thow ;-) ...greetz from Berlin Germany !
I had my head boppin (don't judge meee) to the beat right away..then then scratching happened after sevenish minutes..and then subscribed..keep this great stuff coming : D!
This is kind of a nebbish question to anyone who would know: when you scratch like ravine did, is there a certain type ofntrack you should use or could it be anything
@Graymanz Dj Blend and Dj Ravine both have their own style but that doesnt take away from either of them. i prefer Ravine by a long shot, but i still think blend is a good DJ
Song List: Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) Cascada - Fever Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me Far East Movement - Like A G6
It's just sped up top 40 songs. And mixing pop is not hard at all. It's all so generic. They fit together no problem. If you can't mix top 40 you fail as a dj.
the only difference between you and so-called professional dj's is that you actually do something other than play music directly from their itunes, kudos to you!
What the fuck. Just found this /watch?v=a8Z6YH7dKLY ... did that guy just copy ravine's track, or just take the same tracklist and make an almost identitical mix?
U are soo fucking EPIC u are honestly my fav dj man no lie bruh ur fucken amazing I really can't wait till ur in LA man it's gonna be a fucken honor to meet u! xD
The part of this song, "Rhianna - Only girl in the world", i want that as a normal song file! SOUNDS so goood!!!!!!! Love this mix!! done so well!!! :)
hey bro wats ur laptop app called i wont it fl studios shit now and if u could could u make me a song with a good beat (a billed up) then full sik techno
Great mix! I tried uploading a live mix like this also on YT but they muted it and FB completely removed it. How can I get around it where it stays? Guessing maybe change the tempo on the first track or something?
Man all these years later this mix is still one of my favorites. Top notch bro

Not virtual dj. Its Serato. and there is no syncing. its in relative mode....comeee onnnn he killin it haha dont play mr.ravine
How was he using sync when you see him touching the edge of the platter? And touching the pitch at the top of the turntables?
How do you not have partnership.... You have like 90k subs and definetley get shit tons of views.. lolol
Wud be gud to see I in the UK sumtime wud deffo go and watch you mix ur a top DJ gud luck in the future
OMG. I have seen this video like 5 or 10 year ago and I doesnt know that this was you :D :D :D
I miss the look of scratch live! This video definitely takes me back to when I first started djing and watching your videos

@redlynx69 Wow! What's with all the name calling? You guys don't know a real DJ when you see one. My 10 year old son can do this! LOL
You record the video with a video camera. @Graymanz Dj Blend and Dj Ravine both have their own style but that doesnt take away from either of them. i prefer Ravine by a long shot, but i still think blend is a good DJ
Song List:
Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello
Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World)
Cascada - Fever
Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me
Far East Movement - Like A G6
he uses it to hear where he is navigating to in the track... have you ever even been behind a DJ table?
@kidoni1 i think he switched it out for anitfreze O_O. Look by his desktop under the speaker and theres a real thin glass with blue liquid in it XD.
Great mix! I tried uploading a live mix like this also on YT but they muted it and FB completely removed it. How can I get around it where it stays? Guessing maybe change the tempo on the first track or something?
+Shean M buy the music. lol.
@chikenlil132 Have you tried trackitdown? :P Thats the first place I looked and found it! Hahaha
If your starting out, why the hell would you buy equipment if you don't even know if your going to enjoy it? Also, Serato costs quite a bit.
@choco1atemmm
Right here he uses Serato Scratch Live, but in his newest video with Cotts they are using Traktor 2 (dont know which version)
@TheJuniorXp Scratch live by the companys serato and rane
@DaRcY7500
Ableton Live I guess, if I see it right he is using the program to record the mix.
@blackcrow14100 i have firefox with videodownloader to download from youtube. try that :)
Have you used Virtual DJ too? I use it and I'm too lazy to test other softwares. Is serato better? Just your opinion, please ^^
Also /)
DJing is not about making songs, he is mixing remixes made by other people in a seamless fashion, DJ and producer are 2 different things
Hes using headphones to cue the songs, as in listening to the song and put it to the right part before he plays it through the speakers
dude you need to come to Kansas. At the Topeka Expo Center...Its soooooooooooooo boring over her -_- Shuffling is all that keeps me movin
@HatedByBlizzard when i record i practise them before to make sure i'm timing the beats right :), im guessing he'll probably do the same.
please gief hello download im going crazy looking for it so i listen to this mix over and over and over and over and over and over again :3
@Tadixlife what youve done there is got a top rated comment by copying and pasting the track list, thats a impressive level of pikey-ness
@djsamsonight Thank you! Thank you! No need for applause! Is that a Wii he's mixing on? LOL!
i agree with you scott. listen im a new dj (been doing it for about 3 years now) still pretty new at it, any advice? except syncing?
