I'm playing a solo game of Unbreakable today, and it's very annoying. What I really hate about the game is that you can instantly realize that you have absolutely no shot at winning a battle by at least round 2. That definitely sucks.
Also, it's clear that the designers are clueless about difficulty levels. The easiest mode adds 2 HP and 1 training point. I'm going to officially change that by doubling it to 4 HP and 2 training points for solo. That should make the difficulty true easy because as it stands rules as written, Adventurer mode is normal to hard, no question.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Unbreakable. Have you tried different entry points to the series? Undertow is on the hard end of the spectrum.

I have Undertow, base game, and Unbreakable. I'm truly considering selling them all off. The experience is fun, don't get me wrong, like the battles are great. But a lot of people are blinded only by the fun of the battles and the bling production value. They are not taking an overall macroscopic view of how flawed this system is, and it's gigantically flawed. There's no way around this.
For example, you can snowball to failure all too easily. This is especially true with losing encounters. If you need 5 progress points to face a tyrant by day 7, and you lose 2 encounters before day 7, you're done. There's no way you can get 5 points by day 7 at all because if you reach day 7, you must face the tyrant. To me, this is game-breaking beyond belief, a tremendous structural flaw, and no...I don't like using house rules (which are plentiful on BGG). When I start seeing that, I cringe. Using house rules means the game is fatally flawed, which Too Many Bones is. On top of that, almost all encounters only give you 1 progress point. Absolutely terrible. If I'm on day 5 and need 3 progress points by day 7, I'm not going to make that if all there are are 1 progress point encounters. It's an instant forfeit, and I can't stand games that have a high chance of instantly forfeiting it. Going into the sell pile for me.@@RollingSolo

Interesting take! For me it’s a nice balance between a completely unforgiving game like KDM and a forgiving game. When it looks dire based on progress points you can always stop early and reset if you think you can’t make it.
The game is a learning process and you learn more and more about what tactics, characters and ability synergies work best together. Nothing wrong if it didn’t hit the mark for you! Hope you find what you’re looking for or maybe you found it in another game?

Actually, I have tweaked the difficulty to what I think is easy and normal because it's clear to me that Chip Theory Games doesn't know the meaning of easy and normal. For solo, I gave my gearloc +4 HP and 2 training points at the beginning of the game. I still lost, but I made it to the tyrant round. That was an excellent game. Right now, I'm working through a co-op play of Unbreakable giving them the same starting stats. I'll see how it goes. If it needs to be adjusted to +3 HP and/or 1 training point, I'll do it that way. But knowing that CTG doesn't know what's easy or normal makes me feel like I corrected the game itself so that it's not frustrating, which dampens the fun @@RollingSolo

Been looking forward to this! I'm missing your Gloomhaven videos, but this game works as well! My copy of this is still sitting unplayed, so these videos will pump me up and educate me on the rules. I too am a solo gamer, so this is awesome...

Hello Everyone! Just a minor correction to note.
#1. @ 21:44 - When attempting to train Attack or Defense, you take your Starting Stat (black number on play mat) + Stat Die (if any). So in my example of training Attack or Defense I should have said you only roll one die in my example.
    Cheers!

Love all of the components. I am excited to see how this one plays, it seems like a game I would enjoy. Too bad I missed the boat completely on the Kickstarter.

Hey James! I agree with you, the components in this game are off the charts. The good news is that you can jump in on the Chip Theory Games site at the moment and there's also nothing exclusive to the Kickstarter. Their next shipment is going out in July but they have limited quantities as mentioned on the site currently. Check it out!

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely consider it when I have some money to spare, the game is quite expensive! I am trying to save up for Mansions of Madness currently.
