I had never actually considered that before, but it does make sense; these babies are born with a pair of switchblades in their mouths, and they aren't exactly well-trained with them.
The individual mother might not, but the species as a whole has evolved to reproduce in numbers according to that expectancy, it's why the species hasn't died out to babies not making it to adulthood. There's quite a direct link between care of the mother + survival rates to amount of spawn in animal species generally speaking. Humans and bears? Mother sticks around and cares for their babies and they have a relatively high rate of young making it to adulthood, small litter sizes. Turtle mothers lay the eggs and the babies are on their own, then most of them die trying to get to the ocean? Average 110 eggs a clutch and average 2 to 8 nests a season.
We always feed our babies in a tubes just like for extractions and check ups. You can guide them into a tube and have the f/t at the end. I certainly wouldn’t trust one to look around for its meal. They’re really not the brightest bulbs that young. 😢
When they strike an organ the chances of survival is minimum.....here in South Africa some of us call Puff Adder young venomous springs....I just love them
I was pretty sure every single snake was immune to their own venom. All biologists and snake keepers that i saw always said that... I would assume that if she died, it was by direct damage caused by the fang, not the venom, but maybe you are right...
Weve relocated some absolute units of puffies from our house back into our farm, biggest one weve caught was probably as long as i am tall so around 1.8/1.9m, and it mustve been like 25 maybe even 30cm girth, we moved that big un riiiiiight to the back of our veld coz we didnt want our dogs fucking with it
Did you put all that hieroglyphics in English? I know you're trying to be cool but I really didn't understand what you were talking about. It's probably cuz I'm not from country. Thanks
Most reptiles are. Snakes and lizards are abysmally stupid. Whereas crocodillians and monitor lizards are exceptions. In fact, monitor lizards can even be taught words and companionship like dogs.
My guess, is that she managed to bite herself somewhere close to her heart, or perhaps another vital organ, and the venom essentially just sealed the deal. Shitty thing to happen, and I’m sorry about what happened. Take care
Isn’t the puff adders related to the gaboon vipers or are the same snakes if I’m not mistaken I vaguely remember seeing a video on the two snakes but was half asleep so I don’t remember everything that was said but can’t find that video for anything
Wow I always thought if they bite themselves it didn't effect them. That's kinda strange I guess the lord didn't want them to be able to handle there own. I thought if they was the same species it wouldn't hurt them as well.
It's completely unintentional. Many snakes have a pretty aggressive feeding response and will strike at prey with surprising speed and ferocity. In some cases they miss and will hit/bite other objects. In this case, little baby must have missed and bit the first thing she encountered: her own body.
Correct me if i am wrong, but i thought you said one of the worst things that could happen. That would be at the bottom of my worst things that could happen list. Many, many, other things would be worse. Maybe her biting you would be somewhere around the top.
I really thought this snake was dead until it went 👁️ 👅 👁️
😂😂😂😂😂😂 You definitely made my day... wow
Nothing about it looks dead I was actually thinking he is nuts if he thinks this snake is dead. Show the bite video
can see the tounge going I can tell as soon as the video played

Reminds of the joke
A baby snake asks his mum"are we venomous?"
"Why dear? " she answers
" I just bit myself "
😂😂
I don't understand how this is a joke

I never knew this could happen. Thanks for sharing the event with us. Amazing.
I appreciate your assertion that mama snake knows what lies ahead for her babies❤

Snake the game more realistic than we thought

I’m so sorry to hear this news. I know you must be devastated. Hopefully this little fellow has a long, healthy, and happy life.

- *Wow, how random* ! I never knew that could happen. 😳 Poor girl.
There’s something oddly symbolic of dying to one’s own venom
It's a strong symbol of womanhood
@@davegriffin9083men can also be serpents and snakes, don’t you know politicians?

Whoa!!!🥺 Poor little hissy Sissy. I had no idea that could happen. Im sorry:(
such a pretty snake species.
Puff Adders some of the worst venom for necrosis.
Talk about instant karma!
I bit my finger eating a fry one time, and I almost succumbed immediately.
Wow, it reminds me of a certain group of people's future. Because they're that bright.
When they strike an organ the chances of survival is minimum.....here in South Africa some of us call Puff Adder young venomous springs....I just love them
If a bite can kill them, you would probably try to keep the food in front instead of behind them.
If anybody feeds their deadly venomous creature like that, they have no fucking business owning one.
Snake are immune to their own venom 😂😂😂
Imagine got killed by their own weapon
Darwin's principle in action!
Oh poor girl. I am sorry girl.
I'm sorry for your loss.
That’s a beautiful snake!

The fictional “death adder” was inspired by these.

death adder is another snake from australia. look it up. its a real thing

I have a red bellied black snake who has bitten it self
Big difference. Your snake is not venomous. It will live. This one won't
@edwardlittle5541 Red bellied black snakes are very venomous. They're from Australia and more venomous than a puff adder.

Poor little girl was just trying out her new tools. Almost reminds me of the Mojave Green Rattlers making each other deathly sick biting each other 🤔
But they don't die. They just find out that they've got antivenom and they're okay. The Mojave greens are just mean little motherfuckers..
😍 Hello puppy 😀
So the puffs are the derpy snakes 😂

Are snakes of the same breed/hatchlings immune to an other’s venom?

"it happens a lot more than we even know" I hate to be 'that guy' but, if its more than we know - then, how do you know?
I thought you were gonna say someone got bit thats the worst case scenario in my book 😂
I thought Gaboon Vipers had the longest fangs in the world😊

Related yes but not the same. Different species
Two different snakes brother.
Snakes really do be eating themselves? They dumber than I thought
Gaboon vipers have the longest fangs of any venomous snake.
There's debate about that. Some scientists believe it's these guys, others the gaboon
Good 😂😅😅😅😅😅
So the tongue still sticks out? I know you can cut a snakes head off, and they still move and can bite, but i never knew the tongue sticks out😂
