      The raw materials aren’t cheap, a 6 inch deep perimeter footing and two brick high wall for a 10 by 6 foot greenhouse cost me £250 in raw materials, albeit not trade prices.

    Great video just a shame you didn't show how you poured the perimeter footings. How much concrete did you need for those? I'm thinking of doing a similar project but for a greenhouse. I want to build a very small perimeter wall for the greenhouse to sit on and be fixed to. The wall only needs to be 2 bricks high. Do I need a concrete footing at all or can I lay onto a mortar bed on top of compacted hard core. The inside of the greenhouse will still be soil for growing stuff.

    • @trickybrickys
      @trickybrickys  5 месяцев назад

      Concrete the whole garden. 24inch thick. Buy 🥕 from tesco 😉

    • @markhoverd4993
      @markhoverd4993 5 месяцев назад

      😂 that would definitely cut down the amount if work needed in the garden and less weeding too. I'd probably have to remortgage the house though to pay for all that concrete.

  • @Prodkibis

    This is some good work mate. Here in America we just frame around the string line using 2x4s and strip the 2x4s once the concrete is done

      The one time I used snowcrete was when we had to reduce the heights of some very tall chimneys in one of those towns we,ve lost to Katanga katanga.I could get lots of work from two really great guys I knew.
      Anyway took a Geordie and a labourer along with me and I saw how impossible it would be without good scaffolding so went for breakfast in the Cafe opposite.I was the one who went up there to see.Geordie began moaning saying “why didn’t, you make a start when you were there,ffs”I said “ok after this you can see for yourself”
      Geordie went up while I spoke to him from the ground.There were a few asymetric roof details up there.
      Conversation ended and I couldn,t get a peep from him.I went up to see what was wrong and he wouldn’t move===Stage fright===I had hold of his legs and he was pissing himself with fright and I was pissing myself with laughter.Call the fire brigade to get this guy down I thought, too dear,==when he got down me and the labourer were in stitches and Geordie never turned up when got scaffolding.
      Ended up a good job for us as the boss gave us lots more work.

    bit over kill mate. should have just walled the front edge thats seen and shuttered the rest.....we are approx £13 per square foot. also should have had a DPM not that woven fabric shit. thing is though youl probs get a few more recommended jobs off of the back of that and also we are here watching you and commenting so your doing something right bruv. have a good christmas and a prosperous new year.

    • @scoyle1750
      @scoyle1750 2 месяца назад +1

      In my experience there's no point putting a dpm under a shed base as it's out in the elements so will always be soaking up moisture even with shed on it, membrane will only stop rising damp ,better to put dpm between shed and top of concrete base

    • @seanmcgrath9167
      @seanmcgrath9167 2 месяца назад

      @@scoyle1750 the DPM is to stop rising damp up into the concrete so it doesnt crack on freeze thaw and blow. its also to stop the fresh poured concrete from drying out too quick during the curing/finishing process

    • @scoyle1750
      @scoyle1750 2 месяца назад

      @@seanmcgrath9167
      Bollicks dpm holds moisture which for a concrete base outside which is permanently damp is the last thing you want,concrete blows at the top a dpm would never stop that only add to that,best thing to do is nail a dpc to floor joists of shed

    • @seanmcgrath9167
      @seanmcgrath9167 2 месяца назад

      @@scoyle1750 yeah right lol. your talking absolute fucking crap mate....do you even actually lay and finish concrete on a daily basis or do you just chat utter shite on youtube? if you pour a slab straight onto MOT type 1 or in your case.....sub grade dirt....it will suck the fkn life out of it in no time and make for a shitty finished weak slab

    Not worth hand mixing, better to get a mini mix out to the job. By the way if you’re working out dry mix quantity you need to add about 30%. When the dry mix becomes wet mix it reduces mass by about 30%.
