Do you need a DH bike to ride Whistler? No. Do you want one? Yes. ....that's what I tell anyone who asks. They just make everything better. I convinced 2 of my friends to rent one each last week, and they are both looking to buy one now. (C-More is my favorite jump line. O-Sin might be my favorite trail on the hill. That sketch corner on No Joke gets me every time!)
I have been using a DH bike since 2008, adjusted it with dropper post and changed gearing and use it for everything. Recently also changed it with a 190cm ZEB.
If you ever come to ride DH bikes at Bike Park Wales, I'll lend you my full face lids as they won't allow anyone to ride at the park without one. 10 years ago, I had maxillofacial surgery after I washed out my front wheel on dry, trail-center singletrack, downhill, pretty fast and landed on my face. My open-face helmet didn't even touch the ground. My face took the full brunt of the fall. Concussion, stitches inside my mouth (as I had degloved my gums), a severed nerve in my jaw (leaving me with a permanently numb chin), and cracked and chipped teeth. Hospital told me I was lucky not to have broken my jaw, I did break my little pinky though but I was wearing gloves and knee pads so no abrasions or cuts, although my torso and elbows were all shredded. Now I wear full face, chest and back protector and a neck brace, with knee, shin, elbow pads and gloves when riding fast or anything techy, whether at the bike park or my local trails here in South Wales, in the UK. Only XC rides or riding in sloppy, muddy slow conditions do I wear an open face or half-shell, with just knee pads.
Great video! Those DH bikes look fun!
DH bike is definitely the way to go for Whistler. My first time on a DH bike was also at Whistler last year haha. Though my main bike is a RM Altitude so maybe not quite as motivated to get a DH bike since my main bike is already god tier on downhills.
Big travel DH bikes are the bestest! 💜
I love that my fav youtubers are all at Whistler rn hahaha. Awesome video as per usual.
Such an awesome place! Thank you!!
Now I gotta try a DH bike, I just got into MTB about a month ago. Bought a 2022 stumpy Evo Alloy on a sale. It's been a wild month with lots of smiles. Cheers from Utah.

Hmmm first time on a DH bike jumps on Original Sin lolz. Silly rabbits. Shout out to the SGC! I did the old person week in '11. Always take a full face, knees, and elbows to the bike park. Seen so many broken elbows up there. Nice dead sailors there Mo. 😋
