Hanna- Elisabeth, I just love the way that you and Martin blend your voices and your interactions with each other. I think I've watched and listened to this entire concert several times. I
Rendition well balanced between tenor and soprano, whearas in many other renditions one tends to dominate the other by singning louder or because of the natural force of their voice. Bravo depuis Montréal.
Except for the weather everything was amazingly beautiful... the music, the direction, the particular beauty (not only in voice) of both singers. Thanks for posting this and share it with us!
sung wonderfully and the most charming and most natural inrerpretation of all the youtube downloads for me. Maybe not the greatest voices, but very elegant and loveable
Lippen schweigen, 's flüstern Geigen: "Hab mich lieb." All die Schritte sagen: "Bitte, hab mich lieb!"
Hanna-Elizabeth, I have become an absolute fan of your since first seeing this concert! I've collected every recording I could find and am hoping to see you perform in person someday! Unfortunately, I live in Oregon in the USA, and you're not very likely to visit this area anytime soon. But I still think you're a VERY SPECIAL person. PS. I am somewhat of an opera and oratorio "expert." I developed a class called "Opera for People Who HATE Opera!" and have taught it several times. I'm also a singer myself and will be doing the Lippen Sweigen duet with my wife in a performance coming up in a month or so.
I've come back to this clip repeatedly over the last several years. The Merry Widow, once the most popular operetta of all time, is a delightful, entrancing piece of continental froth. It is one of the most difficult pieces to carry off. It requires a sense of comedic flair and drama in tandem. It's a style of playing that's become practically extinct. Ernst Lubitsch, who directed the 1934 movie with MacDonald and Chevalier, got these elements just right; it is a spicy, saucy romp. The problem, too, is that the show is often cast with the two leads in slightly superannuated state, in their late summer or early autumn of their careers. And usually, they often can't help but overcompensate in the attempt at youthful exuberance, with the result being arch and coy. To the point of being cringy and painful. This clip featuring these two young singers restores the rightful elements rather perfectly. They have the springtime bloom of youth rather than being the last roses of summer. Too, they are gorgeous couple. Moreover, because they are young, the voices are fresh and healthy. And they use their voices with a great deal of sensitivity and musicality. It is seductive, alluring, and deeply, sweetly moving. The impact of the fusion of all the right factors is positively a revelation. To add to this touching occasion, the camera captures an elderly couple dancing and swaying with utter joy. It is obvious they are still in love. One of the most captivating moments I've ever seen.
Zum Ausklang des Tages, Hanna-Elisabth Müller & Martin Mitterrutzner - Lippen schweigen, aus Die lustige Witwe, von Franz Lehár, mit der Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, unt. Lt. v. Christoph Poppen. Viel Spass!
I was fortunate to sing chorus - and some dancing, too -in two productions of The Merry Widow" with two different regional opera companies - one in Maryland, the other in Washington, DC - within a year of each other in the late '80s. Both sopranos sang and acted the part of Hanna - the widow - quite well, but I would have loved to have done it with this Hanna, that is Hanna - Elisabeth. I imagine she has played the role of the widow on stage, perhaps several times
Hanna-Elisabeth Müller has a beautiful, expressive voice to match her lovely, wonderfully radiant appearance, and she looks like she's in love. Her partner is quite handsome and has an attractive tenor voice, but all of that is undone by his rather wooden acting.
This version of Lippen Schweigen" is fantastic. Maybe they're not quite as polished in opera as Domingo and Netrebko but have a better grasp of German language and they're definitely on the up lift.
Hanna- Elisabeth, I just love the way that you and Martin blend your voices and your interactions with each other. I think I've watched and listened to this entire concert several times. I
Great match, wonderful voices, romantic presentation and beautiful melody !
Bravo !!!
light music is just, and has always been, my favourite style of music. Just charming, elegant and so lyrical. Exquisite.
I hope these two wonderful voices will fill the great opera houses of the world in the future.
Rendition well balanced between tenor and soprano, whearas in many other renditions one tends to dominate the other by singning louder or because of the natural force of their voice. Bravo depuis Montréal.
Hanna-Elizabeth Müller is an absolute delight... I watch her progress enthralled.
Wunderschön! Herrliche Stimmen!
I like the way the older couple are waltzing under their umbrella... romantic :-)
MultiSweetviolet Me too, I think there should be more of this, people seem to be embarrassed to show public displays of affection.
A real crowd pleaser. They both look and sound great. Very lyric.
Their voices, that are very, very beautiful, blend wonderfully.
Truly delightful.
Thank you for posting it.
More of them please!

This version is the best, because German ist their mother tongue. Their pronunciation gives a feeling of reality.
And the Hungarian version is the best PLUS, because Ferenc (Franz) Lehár was Hungarian.
@@atticusfortezza I am pretty sure that Lehar wrote it in German not Hungarian.
Beautiful, I would love to see more of her.

It's such a pity you are not singing with him anymore! You are such a perfect duo!
