The most important aspect of this video, for me, was to remind me of a time when I could drive 14 hours in one stretch, eat a dozen doughnuts and a McDonald's bacon cheeseburger along the way, top it off with a walk to Outback for a giant steak and a 32-oz beer, wake up the next morning at 4:00, then walk about 20 miles with 40 pounds on my back. Enjoy it while you can, gentlemen. Soon, like me, you will be buying store-brand Advil in the 1000-pill size and visiting rent-a-llama sites. But, after 46 years, you will still be out there.
Been up in Northern Wisconsin and to the Headwaters of the Mississippi River! Such lovely country side and amazing scenery to! Glad your getting to experience it to! Have fun and stay safe guys!
I needed this!!! a great trip out of state! end of summer winding down....thanks for taking me along! Make as many minutes out of this as u can!!! this is an upper!!
Crash investigations sites are for you to inspect your vehicle after you get into a crash. That way you aren't just in the middle of the road swapping insurance info.
Dude! I'm glad that you had fun driving through Illinios . lol Last spring just for fun coming back from the RRG we drove downtown Chicago during rush hour. It was crazy!!! We did avoid the tolls... LOL
Duluth hotels fill up really early. You're just lucky you're not going in the fall or you would have to book a hotel a year in advance or stay in Cloquet.
Oh my gosh, minute 2 where you said "Ohio is nothing but this for 200 miles" and I was like booooy that's about what the SHT's gonna look like for 200 miles hahaha
All that driving and you ended up right down the road from the airport. But at least you got to see the beautiful country side.. seriously though, thanks for not ripping on Wisconsin lol.
"Going to take everything out one more time to make sure everythings good" I do that a half dozen times to drive three hours for a hike, I can only imagine how paranoid I'd be driving as far as you did haha
Ha ha ha. I don't miss that drive at all! Thankfully my relatives must moved from Wisconsin (love Wisconsin; driving through Chicago area....not so much. Another East Coaster. Oops...watching these videos out of order. Thanks for sharing your trip! BTW, last month I drove to Michigan.... On the way I realized that my EZ-pass battery was dead. Fun.
Yup there were 2 prep parts before this. The next 2 videos will be of the hike itself. I wanted to share with the subscribers the planning that went into a trip like this.
It was more of a jab at the news articles saying it had the highest murder rate via guns in america. Apparently some people were really offended I said that though. No one can take a joke anymore.
Outdoor Adventures haha not offended at all! It is definitely a problem, but nearly all gun related deaths are also gang related. It sucks a ton but the chances of you getting shot while walking down the street is pretty low. Glad you hated Illinois! The roads/traffic/tolls are truly horrible.
"s many states i dont care about" hahaha / i always feel bad for you east coast folks, driving is so boring out there. comment card is hilarious.. nice views and neat shuttle info this is a really fun video looking forward to the hike vid
You screwed up by not making a right hand turn around Toledo and driving right straight up the middle of Michigan and across the Macinac bridge the across the amazingly natural beauty of the U.P!
I'm guessing the hotel left the comment card because - who even fills those things out?! Haha, I'm sure they just didn't check if it was filled out because they probably see them filled out every infrequently.
I live in Illinois and yes the state is a shit hole. Thankfully the rest of the state isn't quite as bad as Chicago. Check out southern Illinois sometime where the Shawnee National Forest is.
As you travel west from Pittsburgh the states get worse and worse. Ohio is the pit of the earth, Indiana is so boring it's barely worth mentioning , and Illinois is terrible. At least you got to drive through Wisconsin, the land of cheese curds. That is one long haul to hit the trail. And I thought 4hours one way to the Adirondacks was a long haul.
Way to insult half your subscribers dud! If you moved to a real state you wouldn't have to drive so damn far to get a good hike. I know this because I live in Ohio and have the same problem. Lol.

Haha great comment. I'm sure that's going to be the case me one day too. Have fun Ted

+Matt Bernhard haha yes we figured that out on the way back.
Been hiking SHT for 30 years.. look forward to your videos.. Enjoy
Gary looks like he could bench press a Mack truck!!!! Happy trails!!!!
Even as a Canadian, getting an E-ZPass was the best decision ever. Makes all our US roadtrips so much more convenient.
Excited for you guys. Hope you have a great, safe trip. Gary, lets shirt-up and do this! Best of luck fellas!
Dude! I'm glad that you had fun driving through Illinios . lol Last spring just for fun coming back from the RRG we drove downtown Chicago during rush hour. It was crazy!!! We did avoid the tolls... LOL
You can do it! Excited for the videos. Gary is the man! Good team..
Welcome to MN!!! Enjoy your stay and your hike!!!
Good luck you guys. Be safe and enjoy the beauty!
Duluth hotels fill up really early. You're just lucky you're not going in the fall or you would have to book a hotel a year in advance or stay in Cloquet.
I want this to be a mini documentary on Gary... "The life of Gary" "A Shirtless way of life"
Good luck. You'll make it. Stay confident and go for it. Looking forward to your next video, Al
Nice teaser. Can't wait to see the hiking video
Oh my gosh, minute 2 where you said "Ohio is nothing but this for 200 miles" and I was like booooy that's about what the SHT's gonna look like for 200 miles hahaha

I was worried about not being able to find fuel. Next time we will fly though, it was just too long of a drive.
How can Gary have tan lines when he never wears a shirt?
rofl
and the top comment is about Gary haha
That is a long miserable drive! I did the drive from central Ohio to Ely Minnesota (BWCA). Took 16 hours! Nothing but tolls!
Yeah Gary to Wisconsin is toll country. It wouldn't be so bad if IL taxes weren't so high.
Can't wait for the next one!!
"Going to take everything out one more time to make sure everythings good" I do that a half dozen times to drive three hours for a hike, I can only imagine how paranoid I'd be driving as far as you did haha
Thumbs up on Mister Crowley!!!
Ohio is awesome dude. At least we can buy beer at a gas station and grocery store :)
+CliffEmAll100 touche. Some stores in PA are starting here but my God is it dumb.
Can't wait for the follow-up :)

Welcome Back.
Do you remember about how much the custom shuttle cost was?
The road trip home had to suck even more lol. Have any post trail/trip depression? Looking forward to seeing the rest!
On day 13 I was getting a little sad that the trip was over, but pizza fixed it. I am craving going back out but now I have work things to do.
I literally just got off that CLINE rd near gary I live NW indiana lol
🤣
Good luck guys rock it out 🤘🤘🤘
Kinda freaky when some of the shots are flipped flopped in the car it looks like you have a steering wheel on the opposite side of the car
+Clara Mullen yes some shots with my phone were held differently and had to flip them . So strange
I love Two Harbors, especially Lake County Route 2.
“There’s so many states I don’t care about….like why are they even here?” 😂🤣🤣🤣
A lot of people don't care our sarcasm. Thanks for getting it 😂
@@FrozensAdventures I laughed so hard!
“Ohio I’m bored of you. I’m ready to get out of this state.” As a Michigander I really appreciated that part!
I said that pretty much in all States but Minnesota lol. Some people really took offense to it too lol
Haha I believe it, man. Some people need to relax and learn to take a joke.
and outdoor adventures meets coast to coast
nice! finally a video from your big trip. can't wait for more! please explain.. why in the heck did Gary have his shirt on most of the time?? lol
Part 3???? I am confused
HIKE & BIKE VLOGS the earlier parts were the food prep and trip planning I think.
Yup there were 2 prep parts before this. The next 2 videos will be of the hike itself. I wanted to share with the subscribers the planning that went into a trip like this.
Lol! You won't get shot in Chicago. Hope you enjoyed the traffic!! It is awful.

I absolutely love that you like peaches!
You screwed up by not making a right hand turn around Toledo and driving right straight up the middle of Michigan and across the Macinac bridge the across the amazingly natural beauty of the U.P!
MIght be cheaper to fly with all the tolls and the long drive...lol
Potentially. That said, not too many direct flights to Duluth International.
I'm guessing the hotel left the comment card because - who even fills those things out?! Haha, I'm sure they just didn't check if it was filled out because they probably see them filled out every infrequently.

Southern Illinois' Shawnee is an underrated gem.
A little hard on my home state, eh?
Millions of 🍑 🎶 🍑
+1 for "Bud light? That's not beer."

I didn't mind Wisconsin since it didn't have tolls and gas was cheap.
Wisconsin is one of the best states, east of the Mississippi to drive.
