I watched clips like these and cannot for the life of me understand why Sam Heughan's acting is so criminally underappreciated. He's the one that always makes me cry over this show.
He has so many great facial cues that he doesn't really have to say anything--his eyes and body language say it all. When he does speak his beautiful low mellow tone is so inviting. I can't figure out why he hasn't been recognized for his wide range of acting roles.
I totally agree with you. Just a slow blink of his eyes can be so dramatic and moving. His facial expressions can say so much. But I love him so much in this role, I almost hate to see him in any other!

There isn’t a character, loved or hated that did not add an integral part to this beloved tale. If you read the books you'd love Roger. In the books he only left Bree to go after Stephen Bonnet and get the gems back. Not for the lame reason the series made up. They must be paying Diana Gabaldon a lot of money for her to agree to let them turn her beautiful treasure into a trash heap.
Any one who watches Outlander instead of reading the books is addicted to a sow's ear instead of a silk purse. The books rock and the series stinks because they changed the story and mucked with the characters. Turned a treasure into a pile of garbage. I've watched a few clips and have gotten so angry. They changed Roger into a wimp and apparently turned Laoghaire into a sympathetic character. Roger left Bree to go after Stephen Bonnet and get the gems back while Laoghaire tried to kill Claire! A hero turned into a wimp and a dastardly villain into a poor pitiful woman. Read the books!
The series is an adaptation of the books, in fact, Diana Gabaldon is in the production of the series, so if she doesn't mind the adaptation, don't be mad. I will read the books to have another look, anyway, the series has me in love.
