Love what you are showing, but as a hobbyist Haas mill user (with WIPS experience) I struggle to keep up. I’ve been using Fusion for years but not the probing functions in the software. You are moving mighty fast through the explanations and assuming a fairly high level of probe experience. Showing more detail in the programming (zooming on the Fusion dialog boxes or talking about how the haas is actually going to move the probe into bosses for example) would be super helpful. For example, where is the “inch and a half up” coming from at 8:24 when the dialog looks like it is showing a Y offset of 1?

Hey Matt. My apologies for the pace of the videos. Some lose interest if it's too slow, and some need it be more thorough. We are trying to thread the needle. In that section, the Stock is 3" Wide with the WCS in the Center. When you Probe using Fusion on the front surface, then it will record that point, and Offset it 1.5" Positive Y to put it at the WCS. The 1" you are seeing in the Dialog is the Distance the probe will start Away from the stock. It will not affect the offset. It's like a "Clearance Height" for an Endmill but in X or Y to keep the probe safe. Let me know if you have anymore questions! I'd like to see you using probes in Fusion. Please let me know what's holding you back.

Thanks for the reply! What’s holding me back? Talent? Experience? I should probably spend more time making chips and breaking mills while learning from mistakes and less time watching RUclips’s! But I enjoy good content and your use of probing and not too slow of a pace makes your presentation watchable, but tough for me to follow details like what you wrote above. I’ll keep watching and get back in front of the mill to try some things.

How do you override the door lock during probing?

There is an optical sensor that detects a block when the door is in the closed position. I just slide a 3/4 block of aluminum under sensor while the doors are open.
