I've had my Dyson DC14 animal for more than 15years and have washed the inner tank using water only countless times. I let it dry thoroughly (min 24hrs) and reassemble. This is per Dyson's instructions and I have never had an issue with it.
I thought my Dyson was too old to find a helpful video on, but you have saved the day! She's a workhorse; I know I can get her back to health. Thanks for this helpful video.
I wish every RUclips video was as well thought out, succinct, and informative as this one. Great job! Followed step by step, discovered and solved my problem, and now I have a clean machine that I will keep! It was headed for the garbage! Very helpful video-thank you!
Paulette LeMieux I found one of these hoovers sitting outside at the garbage bins at my flats someone threw it out I took it in and now I’ve cleaned it all out it now works perfect the suction is awesome what a big beast off a Hoover lol 😂 good find😎
I’ve had mine since 2006. I have taken it completely apart many times and washed each part. Be sure to let every part dry thoroughly before putting it back together.
The cyclone chamber can *totally* be cleaned & *should* regularly if you don’t want to smell old dust. It just requires a Torx head screwdriver or bit, & the entire purple part with all the fine holes can be soaked, brushed with soapy water & rinsed clean. 👍🏼 Wait over-night to dry all parts before re-assembly. *The sponge filter on top should also be washed (by hand) & dried. A little Dawn goes a long way..
I had to actually remove the brush bar from the belt. I just came here to see how you reattach since the brush bar does not have an exact circle on either end. But I think I got it figured out alright.
The Gray Nozzle Housing cracked on our Dyson DC14. We ordered a replacement part but can't figure out how to remove the cracked one and install replacement. Can you advise?
I have had my DC-14 since i bought my first house about 15 years ago, it is without a doubt one if my best purchases and if the motor went out tomorrow I would buy another Dyson the very same day without hesitation! One question for the DC-14 , there is a clip and removable section by the left wheel near the side of the motor. Is there no filter in that location or what is its purpose?
@@jacobmarley2417 I managed to fix the issue. It seems on these models the bottom hose attached to the footplate needs to act as a spring and must be in a position where it allows the plate to spring back so that it will be flush with the carpet and form an interface. It wasn't doing that so it was up at an angle.

thank you for your very easy to follow tips. Much appreciated
right on brother, i knew this thing wasn't dead yet. Thanks
Thank you, I couldn’t figure out why those screws underneath weren’t unscrewing.
Per dysons instructions and owning one for 15yrs...you can most certainly clean those parts with mild soap and water. I do it once a year.
so what if we dont have a air compressor.

@@stagehand113thanks, I was wondering about that. How many people have air compressor!

Wondering how to best clean the roller if it has sticky residue in the chamber? Thanks!
Thank you for posting video, not sure if this will help but I am going to give it a try.
Thanks so much! Just what I was looking for to get my animal back in shape 😉
How do I clean the hose?

I've bought a reconditioned one. Hose working perfectly. From bottom is zero suction. Checked hoses etc I'm at a loss what to do next.
When you bend the top sectikn backwards do the brushes rotate?

Thank You very helpful
Just picked one of these up (used) do you recommend replacing the brush unit? If so, where's the best place to order it? Thanks!
Thanks man
