    When Marlo saw his death coming, his last thoughts were about Hitch; he imagined her sleeping peacefully and so envied her.

    Armin always valued the lives of his friends more than his own. For the sake of friends he was ready to give his life, his dreams, everything he had. For Eren, he slowly burned to death. Death is much more painful than being eaten by a titan. He did not back down and held on until the very end. Armin is a real hero

      I dont like him so much in S4, he is way too indecisive about fighting and hopeful about something thats never gonna happen (convince the world they are not evil) and therefore kinda wished they saved Erwin. But gotta give credit to him, rewatching this episode made me reconsider his worth. Thats some beyond human hero shīt

    • @ShadowDuty7
      @ShadowDuty7 3 года назад +27

      @@saverio_6990 First, spoilers mate.
      Second, the point was that good and evil are different perspectives instead of inherent values. One side will always be heroes and saviors to one, but villains to another, doing malicious acts in the name of survival or victory. One side sacrifices one thing, calls another a monster, denies/forsakes their reasoning/humanity, or chooses to try to fight against those with opposing ideals and intents for a multitude of different reasons that aren't always clear or certain themselves (which isn't news, even this far in the series). This is a cycle that will last as long as humanity is divided. Showing others their maliciousness and evil will not change one's actions unless others with conflicting ideas are take initiative to prevent it depending on how determined someone is to accomplish their goal/dream.

      "What's so special if they speak in their language"
      Well, since you clearly have some sort of disorder, I'll explain it for you: Speaking in a foreign tongue takes an extra amount of brainpower; you need to actively neglect your native tongue. MEANING if someone reflexively reverts to their native language, they're likely in a moment of extreme stress, such that they can't focus on communicating their second language.
      The reason that this episode is "so special" is that never before have we had such an abrupt, traumatic shift in the narrative that caused our dear reactors to forgo english for literally minutes on end.
      It's truly insane that not only did I have to explain that to you, but that you were even annoyed with it in the first place. Go touch grass, talk to a real human being, MAKE A FRIEND lol. This is basic human interaction that I'm needing to explain to you, and it's tragic that you don't inherently understand it. You have some VERY apparent problems in your life, and I recommend instead relying on this parasocial relationship you've formed with LM, instead you've gotta meet real human beings.

    13:30 I want to talk about this one scene since I think you'll appreciate it. First I think you noticed how Hitch was actually awake rather than asleep like Marlo thought, but there's a little more to it. The flowers Hitch has there are anemones, the supposed flowers that sprung up from aphrodite's tears mourning the death of Adonis, her lover who was killed by the gods. The flowers themselves have gained a lot of different symbolisms over the years, many of which are still applicable here:
    The meaning that stands out the most that many fans will point out is the meaning of forsaken or forgotten love, but this is usually the meaning behind red/pink anemones, of which Hitch has none. Anemones also have the meaning of the death of a loved one, or bad luck. This is commonly associated with white anemones and is the kind you'll more typically find at funerals. The two purple anemones, while they can still symbolize any of the previous meanings as well, tend to mean protection instead. Protection against evil or bad luck, or positive anticipation for the future.
    It's clear that at least some of this is what Isayama was going for, but my personal theory, that may just be me reading into things to much, is that it goes a little deeper than that and colour is important here. Hitch has 2 purple anemones and 1 white anemone, I think this symbolizes Hitch's anticipation for Marlo's return and wish for his protection whereas still having the fear of his death lingering in her mind. I think it's quite phenomenal what you can do with such a simple frame and I have respect for that.

    In this episode everyone represents a false heroism, Erwin thinking about the basement before his tactic, Levi not being able to kill the beast titan for thinking of Erwin and Marlowe who regretted having been there.
    However, Armin sacrificed himself without selfish thoughts, 勇者 refers to a hero of courage, not a comic book hero, emphasizing the phrase that he always fought in the way he always considers good and sacrificed himself concluding a perfect plan

    • @JeusAlprime108
      @JeusAlprime108 3 года назад +19

      You're right. 勇者literally mean "people with courage" while "hero" suppose to be the word英雄. They intentionally choose that word as the title for this episodes is due to all the characters die charging toward Zeke or die facing Berthold are aware of their plan is to divert the enemy and they gonna die trying to accomplish their plan, yet they never hesitate after they start charging, they have to overcome the great terror of death 生死间有大恐怖 upon them for them to carry out this plan. They found the courage upon death 生死间有大勇气. They are the people with courge 勇者 to face their own death for a good purpose. So in that sense they are the heroes英雄 at the same times too.

  • @FallenLight0
    @FallenLight0 3 года назад +30

    For me Armin dying here is poetic too: In the past Eren "died" to save Armin, and now Armin would die to save his savior (Eren). Armin the one who was a coward in the beginning died as a brave hero, it's a full circle. He gave up his dreams and died the same way Erwin did. And the show would be even more tragic if Armin died because this is a realistic thing about death in real life: People with a lot of potential dies without showing everything they could have done, it would be good writting in my opinion, I would like both outcomes.

      Also by keeping Bertholdt alive he's basically responsabile for all the soldiers that died to the colossal titan after the shiganshina attack lol, and why would he do that? So Armin could get burnt to near death and then "resurrected" with constant guilt of not living up other's expectations as an Erwin successor?
      Why would he put all his friends in a deadly fight (where no one died because of their plot armor being thicker than the armored titan) if he loved them so much?
      Basically all this "plot twits" shows is that Eren is a sadistic bastard who doesn't care about neither Paradis nor his friends, he just killed 80% of humanity "because he wanted to".

    • @Endisfree_
      @Endisfree_ 2 года назад +1

      @@Mikhaii_64 it’s not a cheap plot twist since I personally don’t think it was a plot twist. And it was foreshadowed in ep3 of s4 where Dina passes Bert who is clearly confused about it too since all titans prioritize shifters by instinct. And no he can’t send messages to his past self that was the whole reason why he had to send memories to grisha so his past self could see the future. I agree there was mad plot armor for them but before he connected with ymir he didn’t know the whole future said multiple times. The reason he killed humanity was for his freedom and his friends. The part your talking about where it eren says he just wanted to do it referred to the panel of him being born. I’m sure you know this but he genuinely and selfishly wanted to destroy the world for freedom. Since he believes everyone is born free and the world took him from that. He stopped the rumbling halfway cuz he saw the full future by connecting with the founding titan. So he made the plan to make his friends heroes since he cares for his friends more than his freedom

    I like to see people emotional about this anime. There are the people who are sad about the deaths, and then people who are angry, some people are all for the rumbling and all the deaths before are just more motivations to justify Eren's killings. And some people see the cycle of hate being perpetuated. Such great conflicts in the show, we can't help but sympathize to one side or the other, never both, completely

    this is how Isayama writes tragic characters. Build them in pain, make them stronger through suffering, then kill them with hope. He did the same for Ymir, Erwin, Armin and a few more to come

    In the manga Levi’s actual words when he chases after Zeke is “wait, I swore to him…that I’d kill you not matter what. I swore to him!”
    Which is honestly so much more impactful and emotional that what the anime went with. Erwins last order has such a strong hold over him and he won’t give up no matter what and that’s what I love ab his character so much
