Such a wonderful conversion and restoration, Doug! Combines the allure of a vintage pen with the convenience of a modern pen's filling system! I'm so sad to have missed out on purchasing this one, but will be looking forward to more conversions/sales in the near future, that's for sure!
Another amazing restoration, it turned out to be a very beautiful pen and that adapter to a modern cartridge converter is really pulling it's weight in gold.
Fabulous restoration, Doug. I am pleased how it went. I thought about this pen in particular as it was made the year I was born. I guess I am just sentimental in that regard.
Converter adapter arrived Monday, just completed it Doug. This pen will be in regular use now it used to be a pain in the arse to clean with the original filler.Cheers Doug for the heads up on this one, although I have had new vac filler pumps from this seller.
Another beautifully restored pen, Doug! After watching your video on the first conversion I went ahead & ordered an adapter which is now on it's way. I then set about searching for an Aerometric and acquired a beautiful deep dark blue model with a Lustraloy cap that had been restored. The beauty of it is I won't have to heat up the hooded section since it wasn't glued back on after restoration and it just unscrews!! This should make for a very easy conversion.
Thank you for another ingenious practical conversion, which will again be very helpful for a lucky buyer. 🍀 Pardon me, but I was swooning for a moment over the breathtaking loveliness of the forthcoming pen presented last 😍
Yes, I absolutely love your beautiful piece of craftsmanship - it’s my ultimate grail pen! 😍 Thanks again for the amazing resurrection! 🙏 And it's awesome how consistently that pen writes! 🥰
Doug, thanks for specifying all the tools and the measurements for this conversion. My only annoyance is why, when a company designed a replacement and improvement for the aerometric pita, they didn't make it compatible with standard international cartridges and converters, but stuck us with the proprietary ink receptacles.
Hey, that’s what my Parker 51 looks like (except the cap on mine is supposed to be silver-filled). Nice conversion and restoration, Doug. I may have to watch this video again if I do the same thing to my pen.
An excellent presentation, Doug. I should follow your good example with my EDC "51". The C/C filler may not be as 'alluring' as those piston-fillers and so on, but they are so practical, and cheap. Diverging from your Canadian practice, I would never remove the personalization; must be something to do with keeping the drop bears happy. Eagerly anticipating the Vacumatic restoration. All the best from Oz.
@InkquiringMinds Love your vids Doug, very nice restoration. I have a question about inks: I have a Parker Royal Urban with a fine nib and an EF Pilot e 95s, on the first pen my Sargasso Sea ink from Diamine Dries up very fast( after a day it has a very dry start), but on my Pilot it has no broblems. I previousley used a Lamy blue ink on the Parker for a year with no problems. Is it the ink or the seal? I love both pens btw :)

My pleasure!

Couldn't agree more!

You polish up well too!

Fantastic! That will be easy. Just cut the breather tube 2mm short of the cartridge piercing tube.

You already HAVE one of those! LOL

Because it is the Parker standard.

Cool!
Amazing video! Thank you very much!
Glad you liked it!

If I was keeping it, I wouldn't remove the personalization. But, pens don't sell with personalization. Just a fact.
This is a very practical conversion. Aerometric is probably my least favourite of all filling methods. It's sad they downgraded the 51 from Vacumatic.
I agree 1000%!
I have a couple of Parker 21s. Can this conversion be done to them also
Unfortunately no.

The Diamine ink must be drier than the Lamy and evaporates more quickly.
