      They were planted pretty deep at transplant but towards the end of the season the soil tends to sink/settle down quite a bit. I used hügelkultur to set the beds up so I should have added extra soil this year to account for the matter on the bottom breaking down.

    I can't count how many times this has happened to me over the years. The water method is better to guarantee roots, versus directly putting it in ground without doing that. Depends on your growing zone. If you have the space, another option is to bring it indoors. Thanks for sharing 🙂
