I remembered this song as a young boy in church. I feel so blessed that my parents took me to services when I was small. Unfortunately they divorced when I was a teenager in the 70s. I had forgotten how beautiful this song really is to me. Thankfully I have rediscovered just how wonderful this song can be. My next door neighbor has a wll plaque on her front door that reads....."I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR " I have been repeating that in my mind ever since I saw it. It is very comforting to have this song stuck in my head and heart. Thank you Heavenly Father for all of your wonderful blessings. Even though we are not always worthy to receive them.... Isn't a blessing that our Savior doesn't demand perfection before we ask Him to be Lord of our lives? He also really is the only one we can depend on. Even Christian friends & family can let us down - Him? NEVER😊. You wrote about the temptations of this world & it reminded me of the miracle of this season. God incarnate, left His heavenly glory & came down to earth - fully man, yet always wholly God. Paul talks about the same issues we all face. "The good that I would, I do not, but the evil that I don't want to do that I do". (Romans 7 v19) Then, we read verses to encourage: "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses. For He was tempted in all points as we are, yet He did not sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we obtain mercy & find grace to help us in our hour of need" (Hebrews 4v15&16). Fernando Ortega sings another song which makes me weep. "Con Que Pagaremos?" (With what will we pay?") Although he sings it in Spanish, the English translation is usually in the subtitles. God bless you!
My heart hurts so bad. The beauty of these lyrics broke every string from my heart. I can't even begin to describe how fortunate we have a God who's merciful and forgiving. Even after, our sins brought him so much pain.
Before we were born he knew us. And loved us. He loves us always. Following him is not the price we pay for that love, it is a further blessing. Every hour we need him and every hour he is with us. How my heart swells when I think of that. I'm only recently given myself up to the Lord and wow. The peace I feel even though my situation has not changed yet I have been blessed with the knowledge that I have him no matter what.
I was listening to this hymn before I received the sad heart breaking news that my younger brother was in an induced coma. He never recovered and I believe He is at rest in Jesus. This hymn will be my constant comfort and strength 😭🙏🏼

I was sitting here talking to God and He said to me "You need to listen to the song I need thee every hour. I googled it and this is the one I chose to listen to. I have been singing this song since i was a little girl. Know the song by heart. Im now 59 almost 60 and I need him as much as I did 59 years ago. God is so good and i deal with depression and anxiety, and God is with me 24/7. He said He would never leave me nor forsake me. I am His child and He lives in my heart. I got saved when I was 9 years old. We were having revival at our church. It was on a Sunday night and I still remember exactly where I prayed on the altar for God to forgive me of all of my sins and come into my heart. The devil will try his best to discourage you, tell you a bunch of lies to get you to fall away from God, but i have you to know God always lets me look back on that Sundays night where I asked Him to come into my heart. Im saying this to say, no matter how long we have been saved, we still need Him every hour of the day. Im going to start playing this song every morning to start my day off with a song in my heart. I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR! God is still using this song to reach out to others in so many different ways and so many different circumstances people are facing. I am waiting for the trumpet to sound so we aren't in this sinful wicked world anymore. What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see!
Hymns are awesome, every AM, and night, and in between! Do you have a King James Version New Testament? I have alot of old hymnals, and should give some away, but my favorites are Soul Stirring Songs and Hymns, and, I believe, Rejoice Hymns is the name of the other... God's word we can put in our heart, and I hear ya, about how healing and empowering just singing to our God and Saviour, is!!!! Satan is an aggressive enemy against God's people, right now, especially, because he knows his end is near!! But God is near to all who call upon Him, and He loves all His creation, (and wants all to be saved, so we can have eternal life with Him in Heaven) and wants us to talk to Him! Jesus is listening! He and the Father are one, and Jesus always does those things that please the Father, and has always been there for us, as He is God, and He is interceding for us at the right hand of the Father, and He sees us, and sent the Holy Spirit of God, the Comforter, to us, when He rose again, to indwell all believers (those who have trusted God as Saviour, and have had their sins forgiven), and the invisible things of God are clearly seen in His beautiful creation all around us, and He wants us to talk to Him (as He intercedes for us to God the Father), and grow to know Him more, and let His Word talk to our hearts, and let His peace fill our hearts and minds (Phil. 4:6-8), and to daily confess our sins(worry is even a sin He wants us to confess, and get replaced with peace), as He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)! There are so many promises in His word, that we need to hide in our hearts (memorize and ponder and act on), and so many believers read a proverb a day, and 5 Psalms a day (the psalm for the day, and every 30th Psalm), and the Gospel of John is a great one to read (and reread) Who our great God is, and Romans through Philemon, written by Paul, are sound doctrine for all Jews, Gentiles, Greeks, who have been redeemed, and even just getting a verse for your day, to think on, and a hymn or two, and praying and interceding for others, with belief in what God is doing, and wants to do, is awesome encouragement for one's day!! Be encouraged, my friend! Forgive me, but may I share what a great man of God once said? The Bible doesn't need to be rewritten, it just needs to be reread! Again and again, and God the Holy Spirit promises that He will teach us His word, and lead us into all truth! Woo hoo!! God loves you, my friend! Keep singing, there are alot of really great hymns, songs, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts, to God, that can fill us with joy unspeakable, and that glorify God!!!

The Holy Spirit placed this song in my heart this morning. I'm facing a divorce I don't want & settlement conference Friday. I need the Strength of the Father through Christ to face it. When this all began a year ago the Lord spoke, "I'm going to do a new and greater thing in you and in Joel whether you're together or not." He truly has kept His word. For I am not the same. I am working through forgiving myself every day and forgiving my husband. I NEED JESUS every hour to show me the path He wants me to take. "I know the Lord is with me. I will not be shaken for He is right beside me." More than this, He abides in me and I in Him. Thank you Father God for seeing fit to choose me as one of your children long before I was born. Izzy Ackeret My husband divorced me in Dec. 2006 & 30 days later he was remarried to someone else. I can't even described the pain and how I almost didn't survive it. I scrounged around on eHarmony, got into trouble, got into debt and almost lost my mind instead of seeking the Lord & looking unto Jesus for healing & restoration. Then when I hit bottom in 2008 & realized that there was indeed a bottom even deeper than being divorced, I finally settled down & began to seek the Lord daily. A job promotion happened. I was able to travel internationally. I was able to segue into things that I'd had a passion & calling for all my life. Deep healing & restoration took place in me. And I began to remember the good things. Also, I was able to pray for my former husband and his new wife and bless them. After incredible breakthroughs & opportunities came my way, I began to realize that with God, the best is always yet to come! In eleven months, it will be the 10 year mark of when my world began to crumble down. If you had asked me, where do you see yourself in 10 years, I would have spoken doubt, fear, defeat and failure. But that's not what happened. And although God hates divorce & wants us to be nice to each other & prefer each other, I can truly say that He turned my life around and I came out the winner, not the loser. All has turned out better and happier than I ever imagined possible.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. As for his salvation, it is very possible that he called out to the Lord to save him. I had a friend who, in the midst of altzheimer's, had a moment of clarity and accepted Jesus. It only takes a moment, and makes eternal difference.

There are so many promises in His word, that we need to hide in our hearts (memorize and ponder and act on), and so many believers read a proverb a day, and 5 Psalms a day (the psalm for the day, and every 30th Psalm), and the Gospel of John is a great one to read (and reread) Who our great God is, and Romans through Philemon, written by Paul, are sound doctrine for all Jews, Gentiles, Greeks, who have been redeemed, and even just getting a verse for your day, to think on, and a hymn or two, and praying and interceding for others, with belief in what God is doing, and wants to do, is awesome encouragement for one's day!! Be encouraged, my friend!
Forgive me, but may I share what a great man of God once said? The Bible doesn't need to be rewritten, it just needs to be reread! Again and again, and God the Holy Spirit promises that He will teach us His word, and lead us into all truth! Woo hoo!!

Izzy Ackeret My husband divorced me in Dec. 2006 & 30 days later he was remarried to someone else. I can't even described the pain and how I almost didn't survive it. I scrounged around on eHarmony, got into trouble, got into debt and almost lost my mind instead of seeking the Lord & looking unto Jesus for healing & restoration. Then when I hit bottom in 2008 & realized that there was indeed a bottom even deeper than being divorced, I finally settled down & began to seek the Lord daily. A job promotion happened. I was able to travel internationally. I was able to segue into things that I'd had a passion & calling for all my life. Deep healing & restoration took place in me. And I began to remember the good things. Also, I was able to pray for my former husband and his new wife and bless them. After incredible breakthroughs & opportunities came my way, I began to realize that with God, the best is always yet to come! In eleven months, it will be the 10 year mark of when my world began to crumble down. If you had asked me, where do you see yourself in 10 years, I would have spoken doubt, fear, defeat and failure. But that's not what happened. And although God hates divorce & wants us to be nice to each other & prefer each other, I can truly say that He turned my life around and I came out the winner, not the loser. All has turned out better and happier than I ever imagined possible.
