I've the 00015M Sigma guitar and I'm so happy with the buying. Its sound is beautil. In my opinion, Sigma is a good value for money. I've put Martin's strings for to get better country sound.
I don't feel that the Martin was the "big" winner. The sound difference is simply preferential, not a matter of better or worse. They are both lovely indeed. I would say that if the prices of the two guitars are taken into account (Sigma $400.00/Martin $1500.00) the Sigma is the "big winner"!
However... on second hand resale.. the martin is a better choice and of better value... the sigma if sold as second hand would be negotiated below 50% of its original value...
@@mr20barefoot If the Martin is purchased at MAP ($1299) and then sold for what appears to be the going price (around $1000), then your depreciation is about 23%, while the AMI/Sigma MAP is around $400. If what you say is true, then used they'd be around $200? That's a 50% depreciation, true, higher than Martin's, but you're looking at losing $200 on the Sigma versus $300 on the Martin in terms of real depreciation.
@@tomeisenmenger6475 i said negotiated below 50%... a brand new 400 dollar sigma will be at a value around 100 to 150 dollars on secondhand market.. in europe market atleast... even if sigma models made in china becomes a vintage they will appreciate in value insignificantly... while martins appreciate in value more than that of a sigma...
You'd still be talking of only a $250 depreciation vs a larger depreciation for a Martin in real dollars. As far as appreciation vs. depreciation goes, the vintage Martin market value is driven largely by scarcity and so Martin guitars of 50 or 100 years ago do eventually move from depreciation to appreciation. However, the modern Martin company is producing a great many more guitars than it used to, hence they won't be as scarce in the years to come. To suggest that a 2019 000-15m will eventually appreciate in value is a longshot.
There's no way one can define if there's one better than the other. There are subtle differences (even two guitars of the same model will sound different, heck. even a different string set) but both the Martin and the Sigma virtually sound the same. Try clicking at random times while not looking and try to guess which guitar is being played (tip: scroll down until only the controls are visible on the screen). It's impossible to know.
The Martin is a all solid wood guitar and the sigma is a laminated wood. There is a sigma S000-15M guitar with a solid mahogany top and the difference is very much less. In fact for a third of the price is a no brainer. You MUST hear it for yourself to believe it. Guitarist Magazine have done a demo here on You Tube. Check it out, a really rich sound.
+telefan2 Almost right. The 000M-15 is solid top, laminated back and sides. The S000M-15 is all solid Mahogany with a Fishman Sonitone. S000M-15 was replaced by the all-solid S000M-15E with a Fishman Presys+ system.
The Martin has a woody dry sound to it that is just unbeatable imo... You really don't get a more vintage sounding guitar than these, and they come like this out of the factory...
When brush the strings i can hear the difference, martin has more well round sound than sigma, and this slightly difference let you want to playing more much time using martin.
The Martin definitely sounds more mature and chimes in the mids and trebles, with a dry clear bass. Years down the road the Sigma will be worth 200 bucks and the Martin will be worth 1400. The better investment if you can swing it.
These could even be built exactly the same, but, Martin consistently uses a higher grade of tone woods and supplies needed in the making of the guitar. The acceptable second quality is narrower in the final Martin product. This is generally speaking , of course, as there will always be outliers . Just my layperson opinion. Feel free to educate me....
Martin warmer with better overall bass & county feel Sigma has more sweet on the higher notes great sounding too For the amount of $$$ sigma wins big time. No martin for $400 will sound as good as the Sigma
Everyone is focusing on the price difference between the two guitars. Keep in mind that workers in China get payed a fraction of the salary of the ones in the US. So you are not making a good deal, you are feeding a dictatorial regime, and weakening your economy. As years go by and less industry remains in your country, because it just couldn't compete with with salaries in dictatorial regimes, the same will start to happen in your country. Low salaries, endless working hours and so on. And all those tenths of years that your ancestors fought for you to have a reasonable life, will drain down the pipe in one generation. So think about your good deal.
u dont buy a guitar from china and somebody much less well off than you goes hungry ...life isn't as simple as you think. The Chinese people are not the government.
both pretty damb close...but the sigma is all solid mahogany and not laminate...bone nut and saddle grovers too. the martin x series is bonfire wood. low end martin or a sigma? don't waste your hard earned money on hpl and stratabond garbage.....get an all solid body for a good price and smile at others who paid the big bucks🤘

Very nice review.....and nice playing. The Martin is a big winner, but the Sigma sounds great for the price difference.

Buying a Sigma at that price, why sell it anyways!?
The sigma sounds fine but there is a big difference IMO. The Martin jjust sounds considerably better.
Its all solid after all. I wish I had money for one 😅

I have this sigma and it sounds like the one in the video. The martin here sounds different and to my taste, is leagues better.
@@kazzz2765 you're right. I ended up getting the 00015m and there's a difference in complexity
What guagevstrings do these guitars have ..and do both guitars have same strings for the demo ? Thanks

The Martin 000-15M here is an all solid mahogany guitar. The Sigma is laminate back and sides solid top.
Same smell.
