To explain without spoilers, the “become the new lord of the island” achievement is the secret ending which requires you to speak to a scarecrow at every location he appears at. At the end, don’t jump down the well and instead run past it to talk to him one last time.
Swords aren't the strongest weapon class, but they are versatile. Most of them scaling with dex makes them pair better with shields since you don't need to two hand them. They're also a good option if you want to do a battlemage, as you have the branding iron and shikeimaru for dex/mag builds, and the leviathan for dex/wis builds. And as shown in the video, the tachi having innate fast hitter and comboing with the mossy charm results in some high dps, and the flint and steel gives a good option for slash resistant enemies and even more range.
Gotta say, I'm glad lemon recommended you. The whip runs you and he did brought me back to the game after setting it down for a while. Definitely enjoying seeing a new take on some old challenge runs. Looking forward to seeing your take on the fist only run now that you can get the twin metal ring legitimately.
i have been watching your S&S runs lately and after the daggers only no dodge run i have to subscribe you deserve it i tried with one of my characters and after 4 tries i was "no i'm done i don't want to go to theraphy"
Your runs inspired me to return to this game. My favourite playstyle is still the big bonk, but it's awesome how varied the weapons and playstyles are.
I'm currently doing a tachi/dagger build, and it's super fun, two handed the tachi is slightly faster, and almost as fast as a dagger. Nothing can withstand the massive DPS. Add in the blood flasks that strip an enemy of their damage resistance, and even bosses with huge slash resist just start melting, it's awesome
Minor spoiler but if your trying to get that last achievement then you have to talk to the crucified man at every opportunity then make a leap past a certain well.
Sure you already know by now especially with just being able to look at the Wiki, But I'm pretty sure for the "Become the New Lord of the island achievement" I think you have to talk to the Scarecrow Npc In every area It appears In. Which area? No Idea, been a few years since I last played SnS. But yeah, just talk to him IN the areas and kill the final boss and talk to him one final time I believe gets you that final achievement. Love the Videos. I think.
I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about the tachi. Paired with the stone charm and a ton of stamina, you can stunlock damn near everything no problem. In particular you can perma stunlock the Wyrm, Dried King, Carsejaw, The Unskinned, Forgotten Knight and King, and hilariously enough, the final boss. Dump everything into stamina and just mash away lol. Or if you’re like me, use a turbo controller. If your stam and damage is high enough, you can defeat those bosses before your stam even runs out and the bosses don’t attack even once. Most fun I’ve had so far on my NG +7 run. I’d imagine the Shikeimaru can do the same but I haven’t tested that. Also also, tachi + stone charm can stunlock the grave keepers oddly enough which makes farming them stupid easy lol. As far as my testing goes, the katanas are the only weapons that can stunlock without fear of the enemies breaking out of it. Fast hitting great swords, great hammers, and even daggers just seem to be slightly too slow to completely stunlock the way katanas do. Katanas swing just barely fast enough to keep a lot of things in a stunlock. Now, I play on the Switch version mind you which doesn’t have the Enhanced update. I don’t know if those bosses can be stunlocked anymore like that there. As far as I’m aware, it seems the final boss got a poise buff in the enhanced ver, according to fextra’s wiki, so stunlocking might not be possible anymore.
Oh this will be interesting. I'm actually considering getting this game and doing a mage build. I was actually considering the Order of fire and ice for my creed, but I hear that it has the worst HP recovery in the game. Is it worth the trade off in how good the mana item is?
So definitely get the game, because its worth the money no questions asked. As for mage, that is an extremely fun way to play through the game even for your first time. The Keepers of Fire and Sky are supposed to be the creed for magic runs... but you heard right about the healing. It is really bad when compared to the others. More damage is always nice but for a first run you might want to join them for the spells and then switch. Eh its really up to you, those heals are just super weak from my experience.
@@SheenShots Cheers for the advice! Yeah that’s what I was afraid of. I don’t expect to need to juice up that much as is given what I’ve seen of incantation only, so might be better to use a different creed with a better heal, given I won’t have much protection. Wanna be able to cast spells as much as possible after all.
Arguably a better sword to have started out with would have been the Corsairs Backsword, it has the same attack speed bonus as the Tachi and a B scaling in strength. You only need to reach rank 3 devotion with The Three and that can be done as soon as reaching the Village of Smiles.
you should also get into salt and sacrafice, instead of bosses you deal with bosses and these rare-r bosses known as mages. The game is rly fun and even has PvP if thats ur thing

What charm do you prefer on the tachi? Doubling down with the speed advantage with the mossy charm? Or the stone charm to stagger enemies faster?
@TheValiantBob Mossy for me, but Stone is pretty good given how fast you already attack. Probably better for mobbing, so adjust to taste
