I almost believed for a second there. Then the rest of the run took that belief and smashed it on the rocks of the Shivering Shore. Repeatedly.

It's kinda adorable to see you talking about hitting a 50 sub goal when you're at more than a THOUSAND times that. And you absolutely deserve it. Even early on in videos like this, you'd completely nailed your style and humour, and are pacing and explaining stuff that even non S&S players like me can pick up.

I only felt like it could've used some more of the footage of you returning all the way back from the beginning since I often forgot the point of the challenge and how hard it really was.

Haha, well, to be fair, once I started hitting the wall with Hager's Cavern, I stopped recording my walks back - if I had kept it all, I would've had gigs of footage of just me walking.

So, which message did you get by finishing the game without a creed?
Good question! The game actually panics when it realizes you don't have a creed and assigns you to The Three, so in this case I got the "Salvation (The Three)" ending.

Which sanctuary did you choose at Shivering Shore though? If you selected Three there, the game may have remembered you as following The Three. Else, it could be the default

I know this may break what you said about a non-atheist run, and that this is a older video..... But the iron ones creed believes in no gods, only man and steel (but for context for the video it's just more of a fumble in your words of choice than anything)

Edit: Okay, just found out anemia is actually when you have a low amount of red bloodcells, but according to my mother, who is a doctor, anemia is most commonly caused by iron deficiency.
@@cmdAHYT Specifically, Anemia is a condition whereby your blood cells suffer from an iron-deficiency, causing their shape to change and thus losing their unique properties that allow them to properly transport blood.
The full-name of the condition is "Sickle-cell Anemia", because the affected blood cells are shaped like sickles. Iron deficiency is correct, but not because the body is deficient- because the cells themselves are deficient as a result of genetic disorder.

@@TheSleeplessSleeperAgent While it is a genetic condition, it is not restricted to African Americans. I believe it did begin in Africa, however. It has been very long since I lasted looked at it.
After I made the post, I remembered that Sickle Cell is just a specific type of Anemia, and doesn't have anything to do with the iron deficiency.
Anemia *in general* is just when your blood isn't transporting enough oxygen. An Iron Deficiency can cause anemia because Iron deficiency leads to significantly lower blood cell count, and can cause blood cells to not have as much iron as they ought to and be less efficient as a result.
A slight mistake in classification. But the overall point is that Anemia is tied to Iron deficiency.,

I am going back and watching your old videos of S&S now that I have beat the game myself. It is amazing (and so well deserved) how quickly you've grown as a channel. Keep making fantastic content and remember to take of yourself Lemon!
Awesome run! A couple notes, when I fight the husk, I roll down past the first skeletal archer onto the collapsing platform to the left of an armor mite and the club skeleton. That route is the easiest for me to do without aggroing too many, and only eats like 40% of your health bar. Also, in the Mire of Stench, there's a merchant that sells forest fangs if I remember correctly, if the poison damage on those is comparable to the wraith fangs, then that could be an easy way of cheesing some of the fatter health bars. Again, this was a great run! I'm super happy someone is still running challenges on this 2d Dark Souls clone.
...huh. Considering I had opened the door this run, that definitely would have been a bit easier. Good suggestion, mental note made for future runs!
As to the Mire, I believe your talking about Old Greg (er, I mean, Alde Griggs). He does in fact sell Forest Fangs, but unfortunately the poison damage they do is lesser than the Wraithfangs. That said, I could've cheesed the Coveted even harder had I grabbed those (standing to the far right aggros NO ghosts, so long as you have the range to hit the axe).

You'd think that would work, but without a creed your character refuses to light them. He/she just does the lighting animation, and nothing happens.
As much as I love this game, I could never go through this much pain, haha. Great stuff~ o/
After 300 hours in this game, I can confidently say that you can beat the game naked without getting hit once...
I have a NG+3 character just for this. Just got boring at some point.

Do you remember the poem that played when you had no creed? For all the creeds when you beat the game there's like a little poem at the end regardless of which ending you took. Did nothing happen? just curious.
Actually, the game gave me the "The Three: Escape the Island" poem. The game usually defaults to using anything related to their creed if something breaks.
I must ask. Did you break your controller on the first try for The Nameless God?
Love the video. S&S is one of my favorite games ever and it's awesome to see someone making content for it.
One question though: Why did you reject the Iron Pot as a late game weapon option?
Thanks, and good question! The reason I dismissed it was because of not only the upgrade materials being hard to come by, but also because it requires heavy strength investment in order for it to do proper damage. In my opinion, anyway.
@@TheBacklogs But even without strength scaling, its BASE damage at VII is 37.6, way higher than any other class 0 weapon, plus it has Fast Hitter, plus it's particularly potent with elemental weapon buffs because of how they scale off of the weapon base damage rather than your stat-scaled damage. Believe me, you can wreck bosses with it even with just the 11 strength from base+ring+gloves.
There's guaranteed charred reliquaries in the Ruined Temple and tome from Black Sands Sorcerer, so you can get it to VII pretty easily... after you've already killed the Witch of the Lake, of course haha. By that point it looked like you were already doing pretty decently with the pistol, though.

All very valid points! I guess my main hangup with it was the grind for certain materials (Red Lord's Ear is a PAIN if you don't have any damage), since I have limited time for each run. Still, will definitely be fun to see it go wild when we eventually get to an IronPotOnly run.

You're right, the Iron Ones. Pickable from the start, best choice to do so too considering how close by the shrines of The Three and Devara are.
That ending is exactly why I don't do challenge runs. At least ones that are that crazy. My sanity is not worth it.

I will never understand the allure of SL1 runs. Personally I love when a stupid idea becomes incredibly overpowered as opposed to an idea that keeps the player constantly underpowered, but the audience wants what the audience wants.
@@TheBacklogs I loved the staff only run because like… what even was dark souls 1? It was supposed to be a challenge but the most challenging part was just the lacking moveset. And the godless SnS run, your form of deadpan comedy makes the video a treat to watch.
As for why sl1 is so popular is because it serves as a litmus test of sorts. Every game with a leveling system will always have someone ask “how much does leveling effect my power?” So it’s something people can hear the name of and instantly be like “oh just like (such and such RUclipsr/streamer) did in (yada yada game) let’s see what this guy did differently or the game he did it in.”
I find most sl1 runs look more or less the same because well, if a raw dragonslayer axe is the best, why use something else? I’d like to see you try a “Poor hollow” run (you might have done it but I don’t remember rn.) which is basically just a Ds3 no souls run. With the exception of you have to be hollow and do the lord of hollows ending. The version I did was all bosses and broken sword only. It was brutal but also fun in the trademark dark souls masochist way. Wow I get carried away a lot when talking about a topic I’m interested in lol. For real tho, I love your videos and your jokes always make me laugh, even after watching a video for the 30th time. I’m continually telling all my friends about your videos in the hopes of helping you get the recognition your video quality deserves imo. Best of luck on your future challenge runs!~
Just a personal request but can you beat salt and sanctuary using summons only? (would be similar to incantation run except can only use the abilities that summons orb or allies or weapons)

13:18 I fully expect you know this by now, considering how long it's been and how much you've done, but the Bandaged Ring and Ghastly Gourd have the same effect. It's not two different effects, it's just one effect, which means that it does not stack. Having the Gourd on basically removes the need for the Bandaged Ring. Perhaps you realized this when filming too, since you aren't wearing the gourd in any clip after this.

I made a run using the eviscerator and the base flintlock pistol.... nothing prepared me to witness the sheer power of this weapon. It fires fast, has one amazingly useful combo follow up, hits like a truck and if you get it right... can parry.
So i just spammed the pistol for the whole playthrough
iron ones are just vibing in the mountains tho right? but whatever it's creeds not no gods and even then i'm not 100% sure about the god status of the iron ones
but they worship man and his steel, which is still count as idolize - a type of religion

You can move out off the Arena for The Nameless God, I did it on the right side while trying to dodge his attack.

Beating the game without joining a creed sounds doable, but your atheist run is insane.
In a normal creedless run you should still be able to use preset sanctuaries and candle rooms as long as you don't join. It's like using a merchant/blacksmith, so it should be fine.
Technical the one about steel is this world's equivalent of atheism. Since it's just humans pating themselves on the back.

Nope! Shrines unfortunately dont work unless you have a creed - believe me, I tried.

so i did a bit of researching, and even though it would make the video less.... challenging, and fun, technically you could have gone with the iron ones if you wanted an atheist run. but since your video specified no creed, then you cant. so... neat little loophole, the iron ones dont bow to any god.

Magic is difficult, but gets very strong when you put into it. Dont be afraid to add a weapon to your loadout (the arcane weapon incantation is great). Good luck, and thanks for watching my content :)

You get The Three's ending. It's the "base" creed for the game until the player officially picks one themselves.
