The restoration of this birthday gift is complete. Nordmende Skandia V24 - restoration part 2

- This did indeed turn out to be a mini-project, and the result is quite amazing. I wanted to do a full restoration, as I did with the previous Nordmende Skandia, but I also wanted to add Bluetooth to this one. That part of the project presented a few challenges, but ultimately, the result is really worth the effort.
I hope you enjoy the video.

Admit it the cat does all the work and you take the credit. 😅
Fine job as always.
I’ve been found out 😊
@@electronicsoldandnew Hy. If is not a problem for you, y be very pleased to see your cat. Y think is someting y have oance... If is not possible to see-it in the chanel, 1 photo in private on my e-mail ? Do you know the race of it ? Thank you very much !!!
It’s a Norwegian forest cat, I believe. He appears occasionally in my videos, and will probably appear more as he seems to like it 😊
@@electronicsoldandnew Thank you very much!!!
Looks a lot like my own cat which is probably from the Aegean cat family.
Really cool that you mentioned my suggestion about the NE5532. 😊
I absolutely love the looks of this radio. For me it fits perfect in between the "antique" look of the 50s radios and the "vintage" look of the 60s radios. And a really nice job once again!
🐈⬛
Thanks. I have no problem acknowledging when I’ve made a mistake 😊 thanks for your video that clarified the issue with the LM358.
Once again another fantastic video and I appreciate your response to comments viewers make, very few RUclips sites do this. We’re looking forward to another set of videos, take care and stay safe and all that jazz.
Thanks 😊
I wish to GOD you were teaching electronics SIXTY +years , I enjoy seeing your projects when i can , thanks
😊 pleasure
You sir are real gem... So much learned from you and few other guys on YT. Im just started working on my first radio. It is Radione Jupiter W from i think 1958. Wish me luck.. 😊
Good luck 😊
Great video. I am trying to catch up with all of them!
👍
Thanks for the Bluetooth demo. Luckily there's a spare contact on the FA switch which needs to be down together with the TA switch for the DIN input I'm using on my Graetz Fantasia 622 (I'm lucky as they used a switch bank from the Belcanto variant which uses the extra contacts) and that FA swiitch can't be selected when FM or SW is in use. Phew! Looking forward to your "monster" - and no, I'm not talking about the cat who is adorable. 😍
P.S. Radio 4 is still there although I can't speak to the transmitter power.
Often there is a spare switch, but not always, unfortunately. The monster has arrived, and work on it should start soon.
ha ha 29:20 on/off, I wonder why the standard in Europe became up/off down/on, I can understand understand Australia because there upside down, sorry Dave T.
Yet in the Americas up/on, down/off. Great job as usual Manuel I'm sure you're friend will enjoy giving the restored set as a gift. P.S. Perhaps you could get the cat to do a intro to you channel!
😊 the cat wants to be seen but won’t do any work. The up/off down/on system was the norm in South Africa, and I’ve just stuck to it.
BBC Radio 4 Long Wave transmitter at Droitwich, UK, is still operational at the moment.
👍
Lol, @ 23:19, Manuel, you sir are being upstaged…
Absolutely 😊
Sometimes a switch is the best option. Maybe a switch on the 5pin phono input, but then it would be low on the backside.
I stopt thinking about a way to propper install bluetooth in a U-radio. Just could not get my head around it with my limited knowledge
😊
Nice Manuel, really simple solution, aligment also neat and direct.About Bluetooth module ,or your pcb power supply doesn't have a led (power-on indicator)?.By the way sound quality is awesome ,sounds fantastic.😊😊
No, I did not add a led. The one on the bluetooth module lights up.
the quick showing of the switch for the magic eye , apparently if both switches are depressed the magic eye is turn off. Why not use a relay or opto isolater that would turn on when the eye is off to turn the Bluetooth on
We can do something like that, but must draw very little current from the magic eye supply (max 1 or 2mA), otherwise the supply drops and the entire radionics depleted of supply.
What is the name of your beautiful kitty ? Please post a picture of the precious kitty. I guess that cat speaks Portuguese :) LOL
His name is Docas …
It looks like, ( when you put the cover on), the wires to the switch are against a tube!
I will check that, and do a day or two of testing. Thanks.
@@electronicsoldandnew - You bet! I'd hate for you to get a message saying the BT is on all the time because the wires are shorted.
👍
Pix of meow @ 37:32?
😊
It's to bad you cant record some of your local musicians friends music for Bluetooth testing.
I’ve looked into that, but the record labels they’re signed up to make things overly complicated. The minute you mention a youtube video, they start seeing Euros and want some (lots) 😊
Could you explain why you chose 460kHz and NOT 455 kHz IF frequency for alignment??
This radio, and most other European radios, use 460kHz. Most US radios use 455kHz.
Yes, BUT why is that , when you transfer to that 455Khz or 460Khz , it should not be different!
You tune it to the IF frequency that the system was designed for. In this case, 460kHz, which ensures a correspondence to the dial scale as well.
