      It does give a certain texture to the hair. I always liken it to like day 4 of dry shampoo lol.
      I've also never had an issue with staining, but I am aware that it can. (As I said it stains my daughter's hair) but we've never had issues on skin or clothes.

    I am looking to add dusty “dead” grey streaks (not metallic or glittery) on my black dreads- curious what product you’d recommend??

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  2 года назад +2

      Um - my first thought is baby powder lol
      Many of the grey sprays out are silver. They have a metallic shine to them. You can spray them from further away but there is no guarantee. They don't make a matte grey spray - at least not that I've seen. So you might be better off using a powder of some sort. They will truly give you a dusty affect.

    Do you think if i spray my whole head with a coat of hairspray and then spray black that it would protect my hair from staining? I really want to spray my hair black for a costume, but i don't want to compromise my currently lilac hair 😭

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  2 года назад +7

      Hmmmmm....it's really hard to say. I don't see why that wouldn't work, but I have never tried it.
      Maybe do a test strand/chunk to see if it would work - then you'll feel a bit more secure about the decision to do it on your whole head.

    I have dyed hair, for Halloween I want to use green hair spray to be the Joker, will it work or will it just ruin my dyed hair?

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  2 года назад

      In my personal experience I've never had any issues with staining. My daughter who has blonde hair naturally will sometimes get a bit of staining on her hair that takes some times to wash out.
      I've noticed using it on dirty hair sometimes makes it wash out a little easier.
      But this is all just personal experience.

    if I styled my hair in braids with a lot of leave in or even hair oil. do you think the sprays will still stick ?

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  3 года назад

      I think so. I would wait until the leave-in or oil is set or has had a chance to soak in before I applying it. There may be some issues with color intensity spraying it on oiled hair, like when chalk gets wet if that makes sense.
      It works best on dry hair.

    • @a.r.3742
      @a.r.3742 2 года назад

      Thanks for including the Dark n Lovely brand. I am thinking of adding white color spray or silver color spray to synthetic box braids. So the issue of being able to comb through it after spraying is not a problem. Of the brands that you reviewed do you have a sense of which ones would "stick" to black or dark brown synthetic braids the best? I'm going for a sharply defined, intense color on the last 3 or 4 in of the braids.

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  2 года назад

      The dark and lovely if you can find it would work well
      The loreal colorista would also work well - but I have been told on VERY dark hair you may need to do a few coats which may result in needing multiple cans - however it might not absorb into the synthetic hair like it can on natural hair.
      You could also try hair "makeup" which is a cream color - a few different brands out there but they aren't easy to find.

    what about the party city ones? do they stain?

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  3 года назад

      I don't have direct experience with the party city ones - but I believe they are a lot like the Walmart ones.
      I would think that certain colors have more potential to stain than others such as black, purple, blue, red, etc.

    So if I have dark hair and I’m trying to do red/orange, should I spray my hair white first then use the red/orange color?

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  8 месяцев назад

      I think if you really want the color to stand out doing white first would be ideal - however there are certain reds that can go over darks and still be vibrant. Maybe do a test strand before your event to make sure your desired color works out

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  2 года назад +2

      In general it might now show up very vibrant on dark brown - in terms of the finish being ashy or not I think it depends on the brand.

    Are some brands more likely to rub off on clothes? I really don't care if these ruin my hair, so long as my clothes aren't ruined 😂

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  2 года назад +5

      In my experience they all have the same level of "rub off ability" however once they dry down a bit they don't budge that much unless you are like actively rubbing your head against something.
      However once you are dressed there really shouldn't be any issues of it getting anywhere or I'd suggest getting dressed first and then spraying with a cape or towel on if you are that concerned.
      I've never had any issues with it staining clothes, but also I'm not that attached to my wardrobe - as a mom of a 4 yr old most of my clothes aren't that valuable.

    • @kirbyrosebeauty
      @kirbyrosebeauty  Год назад

      I bleach my hair and use semi-permanent dye over top and I've never had issues with the spray color ruining my color or hair. However there is potential for staining on blonde hair (dyed or not) and also potential for staining in general depending on hair porosity.
      I've never had issues on my own hair and when my daughters hair stained it washed out in about 3 washes

      There is always a risk of staining.
      I've personally never had any issues with staining but maybe do a test strand first.
      Some other things that may help is spraying a layer of just normal hairspray first to create a barrier then going in with the black spray. Also style your hair before spraying so you're only getting what needs to be colored
