Hi I am applying to the ucs as a freshman this november, I was also thinking of a hackathon + how i got into cs essay as one of my piqs. Do you mind sharing any tips for what you highlighted in your essay or the common thread tying all the cs related activities together. Much thanks
@@joelarya9558 hi! mainly just focused on the challenges faced during the hackathon and how i adopted a step by step mentality in order to finish the project in 3 days. i branched off into how i used that mindset as an officer of a cs club that teaches technical workshops and how i would plan to use it as a cs transfer in upper divs. hope that helps! Hi could you talk about how you made sure you took all of the prerequisites for CS for UCSD at UCSC? I'm at UCSC and am thinking of transferring in the future if i don't like UCSC
hi, i took cse 20, 30, 12, 16, 13s and math 19a, 19b, 23a and am 10 (admissions.ucsd.edu/transfer/transfer-major-preparation.html lists all lower div reqs they want you to fulfill before transferring)!
I started the app but I wondering if I'm doing it right. Is there anywhere to specify you are a UC to UC? I hear people saying there is a question that asks why you are leaving your UC to transfer but I don't see that question anywhere and am worried that I'm doing the CC app and doing it wrong...
i think there was a question near where u input ur academic info, but they might’ve changed the form this year. as long as u submit ur uc transcripts i think that would be fine (but if ur not sure then contact admissions!)

@@hannamiinok i just wrote out a long reply and it disappeared so sorry if you get two of them its just not showing up on my screen. okay so heres my situation, im about to be a sophmore this upcoming fall quarter and also a CS major. once i complete this summer quarter i will be done with all my GE’s for my letter of recip, which I got an A+ in all. I am also done with the majority of my lower divs (cse20, cse30, cse12, cse16, math19b, am10, math23a) which I all got A’s and higher except for in math23a which i got a B+ (that final was cooked). i have two main issues 1) i have a really good gpa but weak EC’s and 2) im going to end up taking redundant classes that might mess up my chances. regarding issue 1, i dont really have signficant EC’s like yours or lot of others ive seen. yes, my grades are good but my ECs are fairly lackluster. im applyin to ucb, ucsd, uci, ucsb, and ucd. i was wondering how much of a role you think your EC’s helped in your application compared to your other factors. for issue 2, bc im nearly done with my lower divs (all thats left is cse13) and GE’s i would currently be standing at 99 credits. the max transferable total is 105. but to maintain my full time student status (which i need for fafsa) i would still be forced to take classes. which eventually means taking 3 higher divs a quarter that are not even transferabble credits. so id bascially be cooking my gpa and my mental for no reason. how was ur experience with higher divs and were u able to transfer the credits for them?
also just to clarify abt the credits part, i will have 99 by the end of the summer quarter, but i think some of them dont actually matter. bc i took some ap tests (like CSA) and it doesnt actually correlate to a GE or class, its just like empty credits. so going over the 105 is okay, but the limit for the amount i can transfer is only 105. thats what i mean by taking ‘redundant classes’ since the credit limit is structured so that higher divs are non transferablle i think (sorry for long reply i really appreciate your help)
So were u not a comp sci major at ucsc and just took the prereqs there then transferred into comp sci?
