    I dont care what crime stats say vs other places, but I think nothing looks as authentic as an actual "hood" than Cali hoods, they to me as an east coaster embody the hood look, and the people have a trademark style there, and a guaranteed accent, like turning on GTA San Andres, the people really talk like that, and they wear the flannels, it is so official over there.

      They stay for all the same reasons people choose to people stay in impoverished/war-torn countries -- To help uplift their community and to be close with their friends & family. Also, some people in the hood live in multi-generational homes.

      Nice racist comment. As long as it is safe why do you care? I drive past Watts and yeah, its poor, but so is a lot of countries I go to. As long as its safe and people look out for each other. You look down on people for not moving up. Maybe that's not everyones goal in life, to keep moving up till they get the mansion. Family and community is important to some people. Maybe appreciate it for what it is instead of talking down with your racist comment. And you're not that bright either; its "too much", not "to much."

Don't judge people for being jobless and bored, not everyone can find work or a hobby so easily.

      @@j.navarro9976 You really think it's that simple for *everyone* to find work?... I'm from Chicago and it seems there are hardly any low-skill jobs available that don't require experience, a college degree, a license or interpersonal skills. Low-skill jobs (like janitorial & housekeeper) are being taken up by immigrants. And like I said before, there's no guarantee that every individual person will hear back from an employer. Sometimes even after an in-person interview, you might get ghosted by the employer.
      And some of us can't afford a car, which means less job opportunities are available to us. Even CDL training requires money and some people don't live close to a CDL training center. And before you say "join the military or the police force", not everyone is cut out for that, and some of us have asthma. When you can't find work, it's very easy to become "complacent" with nothing better to do. Especially if you don't have a wife & kids to take care of.

    • @j.navarro9976
      @j.navarro9976 Год назад

      @@Galidorquest in a sense you’re agreeing with me to a degree with your last 2 sentences. And yeah my comment comes off as unsympathetic, but it’s a RUclips comment section on a drive along video so I don’t put much thought into it. I have no idea what it’s like in Chicago, I was just speaking on LA. The reality of immigrants taking the low end jobs and food service gigs has been a dilemma for decades now, and probably one of the reasons for the demographic shift throughout LA. South LA used to have a much larger working class Black population. It’s now by and large predominantly Latino.
      But there are options to work your way up. The community colleges (don’t know if it’s just LA or the whole state) is offering free tuition to all full time first time students. LA county is huge, and I believe there are nine in the district, on top of the ones that aren’t in the district but within the city like Pasadena, Long Beach, Santa Monica, etc. you could of been a screwball throughout your youth, but the community college system helps you start over. It doesn’t have to be a full time endeavor either. Take 2 classes a semester for 300 bucks, likely less if you can apply for financial aid. Public transportation is available, and admittedly not the greatest, but it beats being out of luck entirely. It’s competent, but pales in comparison to New York. I think students within the LA CC district were getting free Tap Cards/ free transport if they were full time as well. This is all within the last few years but it shows that the county is really trying to push further education/ it’s accessibility to its residents. Post pandemic there have been a lot more jobs, admittedly lower end or food service, but it’s a start.
      You mention being ghosted after interviews, but that’s a reality everywhere and affects all demographics across all industries, although I’m guessing it’s predominantly white collar gigs where it abounds.
      And you highlighted EVERYONE in your first sentence, which isn’t what I meant. I’m well aware that people with disabilities are going to encounter a slew of other difficulties in regard s to employment accessibility. Im just referring to the young men in the video who I’m guessing averaged late teens to their 40s.
      I know the situation ranges depending on the location. I know there’s little opportunity in rural ass West Virginia or a dessert town in the southwest. Just speaking from lived experience, and specifically within LA, there’s a HUGE population here in the major West Coast cities precisely because that’s where the jobs are. It ain’t glorious and it takes years to find your footing/build a foundation, but it’s up to the individual if they would rather grind it out for a few years working food service part time and taking classes/trade school, or settling
      for spending a lifetime in public housing and living for the weekend.
      I don’t know shite about the military or police academy, but they exist as options even though they carry that stigma.
      I’m aware that every community is different and affected by varying socioeconomic factors, but I’m just trying to get across that it sure as hell ain’t hopeless. Especially not in LA. It’s not Haiti.
      **Although, there is a dilemma where if the individual starts, making enough $$ that may no longer qualify for subsidized housing. I had coworkers whom couldn’t access it because they barely crossed the threshold. And the housing market/ rent $$ in LA are stupid absurd, so there are scenarios where you’d really have to play your cards right if that’s where you’re starting from. I’ve had peers who started there, moved in with roommates and then eventually transferred to schools outside the city. I know it’s just a single anecdote, but I’m just trying to convey that it’s not a dead end.

    • @Galidorquest
      @Galidorquest Год назад +2

      @@j.navarro9976 Ok, fair enough. You have a point about being complacent. Some of us just aren't trying hard enough to find work, despite our challenges. Even my retired Mother or Father wouldn't want to work again in order to help fund my needs.
      Americans generally don't have much of a work ethic these days. And maybe we're picky about what we want to do for a living. Even people in third world countries are known to do anything for little pay, I've heard.
      But please know that depression is a major factor for lack of motivation for some people. And it's easy to get comfortable and complacent living off of government benefits. I have grown cousins who live with their parents, including myself.

Most people in Baltimore are actually very friendly and down to earth. People that get victimized in Baltimore get hurt by people they know and usually drugs, money, intoxication and or ego is involved.
