To be fair, if you havent wanted to sequential a GTR then you were never really a GTR fan, you an investor/hype train lover. Its only newer car guys that feel that way about manual trans cars.

I think h-pattern and sequentials should be in different classes. Both are manuals though, I agree with that.

Not sure if I agree with you. Sequentials can bang through the changes really quick, but that's predominantly the engagement method rather than the shift pattern. How many people have run a strong dog-engagement H-pattern box? They seem to shift plenty quick as well, with the obvious downside that it's possible to balls it up and grab the wrong gear, of course.

a properly set up h pattern can shift just as fast as a sequential, the 356544 stick shift 4wd 7 sec Hondas in the States is proof of that, nevermind the 6-second stick shift class

Cast RB30 blocks can make a ton of power. How long they can continue making that power is the question.
@@flamintasty I thought so. A builder I’ve been taking to recently (about myself possibly going that route) said he can get me to 1’200whp MAX(reliably) 1’800whp will not last so he refused that much hp
@@PHATT_TV I think 1200whp is further than I’d push it If I was after a reliable street car. Andrew’s car is the prefect blend of reliability and power for a street car, I reckon. I think his is just under 1100 at the hubs. At 1200whp it might last or it might not.

If you look up the word ‘perfection’ in the dictionary, it says ‘see Roumanos R34 GTR’
They need a H pattern Category cuz the sequential is not H pattern and to class them in the same class H pattern set up is at a Massive disadvantage
Not to mention no clutch or lifting off the accelerator is needed, essentially a flappy paddle car that needs a clutch to get off the line.
@@anydaynow01 H pattern dogboxes are no different to a sequential, you don't need to clutch to change gears and you can set them both up so you don't need to lift off the throttle.

I’m loving Adams R33. Simple(ish) setup with his own built engine still running the standard 5 speed and 2.6 into the 9s. Wow!! Good lad well done.
It's just such a bummer that you have to spend over 200k to have a properly built high hp skyline.
ONSONG’s launch control sounding extra spicy this year and always a favourite still being a 2.6 block and WPNGTR’s shifting was incredible

Someones telling porkies, no way a full weight gtr with stock 5 speed gtr gearbox is going into the 9's. Maybe OS gearset. Stock will strip 3rd just with a dyno pull at that power. Awesome achievement though with a H pattern regardless.

I believe that’s probably the best go their should be 3 manual classes a Strickly H pattern class than a Sequential class and a combination of both of those in one class as like a overall who’s fastest

I guess a Lenco would be a manual then or dsg with paddle shifters or th400 with a manual valve body 🤦. Here in states a manual is a h pattern transmission . Once you go sequential you running with the auto cars. H pattern adds a human aspect to the racing. You can money shift/mishift. Also not all manual cars racing are running dog boxes.

2 pedals. It's an auto.
Yep, it's essentially two manuals stuck together where the next gear is sequentially preselected and the computer controls the clutch engagement to prevent the engine from stalling when at a stop. So sequentials are functionally just one step away in that the driver has to put the clutch in at a stop instead of a computer, well and the actuation mechanism is not in the same place.
Sequential is assisted manual. The whole purpose of a sequential is to bypass all the fucking around of changing gear in a h pattern along with using a clutch.
There’s nothing assisted about a sequential transmission. It has 2 shafts with gears on, just like a H pattern. Both require your hand to change gear. Unless you have paddle shift obviously.

@@MotiveVideo a good manual driver will keep up with a sequential driver it's not better or loads faster it's just easier . A manual box can be shifted as quick as a sequential if your skilled enough with it. Imo sequentials are for people who can't drive aggressively enough without a specially made gearbox 😆
If you air shift an automatic, is it different than a manually shifted automatic? I see no difference in a paddle shifted sequential and a manual H pattern. Open up the wallet and buy what is faster.

They definitely aren't full on automatics but comparing them to true clutch/h shift manuals isn't accurate (or fair sport) either, they're in a no man's land and should be their own category.
All the need to manually lift throttle, press the clutch, actually moving a gear into place in the drivetrain, release clutch, ease into the throttle, is now automatically done with a mechanism. You do have to "manually" select the part of the powerband to stay in and use a clutch to get off the line, but after that the manual part essentially stops. There are true manuals that use a clutch to shift and have sycros and h pattern, dog boxes and ecu assisted throttle h shifts (rev matching, flat foot) which muddy things quite a bit, then there are sequentials and flappy paddles where you're just telling the transmission to shift via automation.

Sequential transmissions are not manual transmissions. You don't need a third pedal to shift. You aren't shifting in an h pattern. The time it takes to shift a conventional manual transmission with three pedals and an h pattern, versus the time it takes to shift a sequential makes it more of an automatic with a lever and manual shift points.
If you are making this absurd claim you have limited to zero automotive knowledge and even less racing experience.
There are different classes if a car has a metal chassis versus having composite .
There are different classes depending upon what tire size you have.
Somehow, according to the brain boxes in this RUclips comment section, a transmission that functions completely differently than a manual transmission, and can shift in a third of the time, should be in the same class... Brilliant

Just because (They appear identical) their performance capabilities are not. Composite fenders and metal fenders appear exactly the same. 1 of them ways a third of the other... That's why they are in two separate classes...

You're Clueless. Our 5 speed dog engagement hpattern gear boxes don't require the clutch to shift only to take off. In regards to flat shift, you can set up a strain gauge (which i dont currently run) , so the only difference is the shift pattern also there is more chance of miss shift in with a hpattern, whereas a sequential is more reliable in that sense. Bottom line is if you're a good enough driver it shouldn't matter.
Then a MANUALISED AUTO IS MANUAL..reverse patern auto with 1.2.3 t700 t400 manualised ...t56 with sequential is manual...EVEN THO I HAS A "PARK"...RUBBISHHHHH
