Gimmelwald is a small traffic free village in the Bernese Oberland in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland, and is located between Stechelberg and Mürren, at an elevation of 1363 meters (4472 feet). The village is at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage site the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area. Gimmelwald is an allemanic linear village and a walser settlement first mentioned in a bill of sale in 1346. Because of its very typical and exceptional townscape, Gimmelwald is part of the inventory of Swiss heritage.
Gimmelwald is one of the few traffic-free villages in Switzerland where access by car is not possible due to a missing road connection. The Schilthorn cable car stops in Gimmelwald, where it is possible to board another cable car which runs between Gimmelwald and Mürren. Farming and tourism are the main source of income today. Farmers raise hay on tiny plots of land to feed small herds of cows. In winter, farmers often work as well for the Schilthorn cable car by performing jobs like running ski lifts or ski-slope grooming.
In the year 2003 the population of Gimmelwald was 130. The local school closed in 2010 due to the small number of students and students now attend the school in Lauterbrunnen. The school building was bought in 2019 by a cooperative to convert the school building into flats and to prevent it from being used as a holiday flat.
The arrival alone is spectacular - a cable-car takes you high over the rocks to Gimmelwald (1400 m).
Description :
The intact, pedestrian, Alpine village with its 13 farms and many houses decorated with an array of flowers, has maintained its original character. Above all, families and young people from all corners of the world come together here.
Winter
Gimmelwald is an insider tip for guests seeking, and also finding, something special. Despite being located away from the hustle and bustle of tourism, Gimmelwald is directly linked by cable car to the entire winter infrastructure of the Schilthorn region. A stay in one of the cosy and reasonably-priced accommodations in this pedestrian, farming village with its unpretentious atmosphere appeals above all to families, the young and the young at heart. Skiers, snowboarders and those on toboggans can ride right up to their front door.
Summer
Footpaths leave directly from the house and lead over lush green meadows, carpets of flowers, cool streams always offering impressive views of the mountainous scenery. Weary walkers can treat themselves right at the farm: specialities like cheese, sausages and much more can be bought from the market ladies or farmers.

Было это давно,а может и не очень, лет двадцать пять прошло.Была Анечка,счастье захлёстывало ,весь мир был у ног,в место погрузчика была тележка с осликом и дедуганом погонщиком с пиратской улыбкой ,но пение птиц тоже ..Какая короткая штука жизнь...Любите! Берегите! Цените! Так,как было ни когда уже не будет,может быть лучше или хуже,но как было не будет..

Надо же, как похожи деревни в разных частях света). У нас на Кавказе практически так же , деревни среде гор - красота, спокойствие, величие гор , пение птиц и звон колокольчиков от животных которые пасутся рядом. Все то же самое, только вот старинных домов практически не осталось.Да и чистоты такой идеальной на улицах нет, к сожалению. А вот цветов возле домов и вокруг то же предостаточно. Высоко в горах на Кавказе то же есть старинные каменные деревни(аулы), но они заброшены и их не восстанавливают. А ведь могли бы и у нас сделать туризм не хуже этого.
да нет ничего общего кроме гор , все остальное даже близко не такое и именно это все остальное все и портит ....

Вот здесь хоть видно, что живут люди, (встречаются на улочках), пасутся животные... возле домиков- присутствуют огородики, хоть и небольшие, заготовлены дрова на зимний период. Природа, конечно, изумительно хороша! Прекрасно, что люди научились разумному, сосуществованию с ней!

This has brought back wonderful memories. I visited Switzerland and was able to go into villages. This is exactly as I remembered! Do you notice, there are very few cars or trucks at the homes? None. Where do they park them?

Просто интересно у них невидно плодовых деревьев,кустов практически тоже .Овощи тоже не сажают ,видели на склоне холма по-моему огород.Просто интересно.Я понимаю луга животные ,сыр работы много.Интересно деревьев практически нет,отели ,туристы.Просто интересно как и где живут люди других стран.Спосибо!
