I'm an identical twin and an a father of identical twin daughters. They were born prematurely and the doctors allowed us to take one home but not the other. My daughter that was still in the hospital, her health was not that great due to her prematurity, refused to let us take her home because, as a twin myself, knew the connection would make her better. It took me yelling and threatening the staff to get her home. As I had expected, her health did improve. They just graduated from high school yesterday and I am proud of both of them.

My paternal grandmother was an identical twin. She and her sister had their own language all their lives. They would speak it when they were alone and sometimes I would hear them and sit just outside the door. It was absolutely amazing to listen to them speak. It was a language of real depth and nuance. Totally indecipherable to anyone else. They were studied by linguists in the United States who declared they must be speaking Irish to one another. (They were born in Galway) nope. They CAN speak Irish and always did to their parents. But their twin language was definitely not Irish. They also had very sensitive extra sensory perception. My grandmother was ironing shirts one day when she suddenly dropped the iron. She had felt as sudden sharp pain. She shouted over her shoulder as she ran out the door “Bitsy fell off her horse!”. Yes she did. Fell and broke her wrist in three places. When my auntie Bitsy was taking an exam in college she suddenly felt sick and nauseous and severe pain in her abdomen. She knew her twin was very ill. She ran out the door and headed to their shared apartment. Sure enough, my grandmother was in agonizing pain from a burst appendix. They were miraculous creatures to behold. They each had four kids. Boys first and then three girls to follow. None of us have had twins though. None of their kids or grandkids. Which is too bad. I always thought it would be me. But they were special beautiful human beings who lived and breathed as an extension of the other. Fascinating souls. ❤❤

We talk the doctor into allowing them to be brought to nurse but only at different times. One day the staff was running behind and didn’t get my first one and they brought my second one so i put them in the same crib. Within minutes my dying baby was doing better when the doctor came in he was upset. I yelled at him, these are my babies I have ever right to help them survive. Today they are 25 years old and both healthy, the one that was dying has a very good carrier in the army. I thank Jesus for giving me the ability to think this through and saving both of them.

I am not a big believer in any alternative medicine, but sometimes things do just work, and it's ok to just let them work while we still try to figure out why. I don't see how it could hurt to have both babies together unless they had evidence that one had an infection. Just let them be together.

I'm an identical twin and we're both girls. Being a twin is not like just having a sister or brother, it's a bond no one will understand but another twin. We know when one is sick or hurting because we experience it with them. My twin broke her ankle and was getting the cast taking off and I was at work. When I got ready to get up from my desk, my ankle was hurting so bad, I had to hop back to my desk. Thinking about she was getting her cast off that day, I call to see was it off. In surprise, she told me yes and walking. I told her to sit her but down because my ankle was killing me. LOL! Beautiful story! I had Fraternal twin boys in 1977. 4 lbs 5 ounces and the one who wasn’t breathing weighed 3 lbs 2 ounces. Baby boy “B” stayed in the hospital for 7 weeks. I only had a crib for the babies and the I believe this helped with Baby Boy B to catch up to his twin brother. Having been born with no oxygen, he was like a rag doll in the beginning. A Nurse would come to the house to teach me some physical therapy exercises so that he could get strength. When the babies were in the crib, I would find Baby Boy A ‘s little hand or arm around his twin brother and when he started cooing he would be nonstop “talking “ to his brother. I believe that Baby boy A was instrumental to his brother catching up to him in his development.

If 👶 twins are born early or sick it is important that the twins can be as close as possible for their bond to bring about healing. Twin babies bond is special, unique & only God can truly explain not doctors.

I’m a mother to twin girls. I got to see the mystical bond that twins (and multiples for that matter) shared. There is a lot of things the medical doctors do not understand. When my girls were newborns, I picked up the twin that had started stirring from her crib. I quietly tiptoed out of the room. I made it to the door frame when her twin started screaming from a sound sleep! She somehow sensed her twin was leaving the room. The whole time we were quiet and didn’t make a sound. This was repeated by both twins on multiple occasions. There was no doubt in my mind what was transpiring.

As a Retired RN, this sweet story reminded me of all the beautiful stories from my memories of twins in my care that I had experienced. Twins are a very special gift that should always remain together as this story shows. Twins have an incredible, invisible life connection spiritual connection with each other that cannot be broken or explained. Of all the twins who had died in childbirth, the surviving baby was always sad, refused to eat or cried constantly. They were grieving their twin and seemed lonely for them. All twins who both survived, these little angels always helped their sick sibling to fight to get better to go home without them. I’m so glad that both babies survived and their story is just beginning for them and their mamma and daddy! ❤❤❤❤

@@NEbluefire , there are things that happen in the world that defy odds and I’ve seen them, so this picture of the baby being blueish is actually nothing new to me. Have you ever seen a baby in person that looks like the one in the picture? I know it looks harsh or maybe even fake, but I’ve worked in NICU and have seen babies that look like this sweet one come around and begin to thrive many times and it’s truly incredible. Some do sadly die, and the blue tinge on them looks like they’re dying or dead, but a lot of them come to life when they’re given the right amount of meds to help their circulation or other medical needs, love from the parents especially their mamma because they grew inside of her, and cuddled close to a human body, skin to skin, to keep them warm and get their circulation moving. This pictures’ tones could also be off too so it looks like the babies are drastically different but are closer in color in real life by the human eye. I’ve seen this drastic difference caught also in pictures that parents have taken and the skin tones are all off on their camera. I see your point, but just because the baby’s skin tone looks like that, it doesn’t mean the photograph is fake.

That’s so sweet , and yes of course being near a twin or parent and skin to skin is so important. Sadly some babies aren’t able as they need intensive care , or one child
Is discharged home and the other not ready for home
      Etc, of course
Put them together when you can , but it doesn’t always work. My god daughters are identical twins both in Nicu as born premature , in the same room but seperately as there were multiple medical interventions happening. One twin was discharged to a less intensive ward weeks before the other, the parents fought for both to go, but the sicker one relapsed and needed to go back. She also was in hospital a couple months longer than her twin, and it was very hard on all the family, they are five now and very very close to each other and seek each other’s comfort when sick or sad. Ideally they would have been able
To be together all along, but medically it wasn’t possible at times / they haven’t suffered for it though they are extremely close to each other , so it’s ok
To anyone out there if your twins have to be apart for a bit. Of course put them together when you can. But some really can’t , it won’t affect their love
For each other , just put them
Together when you can , the bond is strong and will
      Still be there.

I love stories like this. I’m an identical twin (everything alike). At birth most twins are small, though we were very healthy. It wasn’t until I was 11, that my miracle happened. I got in a horrible accident (major head trauma) died and revived 3 times then remained in a coma for a couple of weeks with outcome unknown. It wasn’t till my sister, having visited everyday at the hospital I was improving. While everyone appeared to be heartbroken over my condition my identical twin was completely confident and calm. When asked of her feelings, demeanor she had said that she wasn’t worried at all because I was going to wake up and would be just fine. Doctors, family, and friends were all so worried as to the outcome of me waking from my coma. Or even if l were to wake up at all. To their surprise I woke up from a coma (a complete miracle that l did)! Having had to learn everything all over again (took awhile). Though as my sister said, l was going to be just fine. The Lord works in mysterious ways for sure ❤ I think it’s a true blessing at the connection I have with my twin sister even to this day (even stronger). There is an unexplainable bond we have (perfectly perfect) me and my other half💛🦋🕊️🤍

Amazing. Reminds me of the story "Lone Survivor" (the BOOK, not the movie). The Navy Seal who was reported killed but was still alive had a twin back home in Texas. Even though the military "confirmed" that he was dead, his twin insisted that he was still alive because he was in contact with him (from Texas to Afghanistan). He said that Marcus (the navy seal) was wounded and cut off but still alive, and that was exactly what was happening. There is truly something there between twins that can't be explained by natural means.

At about two weeks after they were born we got a family room at the hospital and they were out in the crib together dvd at home in a bassinet then crib together. They both thrived and had a visiting nurse come and weigh them on a meat scale. They stayed in the same crib for months. They are now 24- and I geht in my heart when I saw them for the 1st time, that they would be okay. They were called my miracle babies because I couldn’t get pregnant with 1st husband. I'm the mother of identical twins. Throughout my pregnancy and after birth, one twin continued to be smaller in size and weaker than the other. Doctors worried they wouldn't both make it to delivery, let alone be able to leave the hospital upon my departure. The smaller, weaker twin had a fever for the first two days, which really concerned the nursing staff. I had skin-to-skin contact with both and nursed them several times daily. However, the stronger twin saved the weaker twin when I told the nurses to put them in the same bed. It just made sense to me that after being together from the very beginning, that physical closeness should not be interrupted, especially in the days immediately following introduction to a completely different environment. We all left the hospital together on Day 3.

My twins were born in 2005, I found out at barely 6 weeks there were two of them. Then dove into the scary world of the internet reading all kinds of stories like vanishing twin and such....when they were born baby B couldn't maintain his own body temp and was put under heat lamps twice after the second time they told me if it happened again they would send him alone to a NICU hospital. I laid them in the same bassinet and had to fight with nurses and doctors about doing this... his temp regulated and they shared a crib until they moved into toddler beds...however they didn't sleep through the night until they were 8 because I'd have to move them together at some point every night. They'd sit up crying but wouldn't open their eyes to find their brother.....they don't seem to be as linked as my mom and her twin. I've seen enough unexplainable to not question it though

Twins are like littermates in other animals. They have a close emotional bond. As a person who has been around cats all my life, I have seen the closeness and love littermates have for each other. I had one cat that gave birth to two kittens. I was trying to wipe something from one kitten's eye in the presence of its mother and littermate. The kitten was screaming its lungs out while I was trying to help. Finally I backed off. With the mother cat looking on, the other kitten wrapped its paw around its sibling to comfort it. I could not believe my eyes. I don't think twins should be separated so young. The sick baby felt safe as long as his brother was with him and missed him terribly when they were separated.

My wife is a twin and there is DEFINITELY some kind of connection that can't be explained by natural means. My wife would pick up the phone to call her sister and before she could hit "call" the phone would ring- it was her sister calling her. They live more than 100 miles apart and yet they both decided at that random moment to call each other. They are not allowed to be on the same team when playing games like Pictionary or Taboo because they automatically know what the other is thinking before they even speak or draw. It's really something to see. And it happens so frequently that it isn't just coincidence.

This does not surprise me in the least! It's a wonderful story. My baby was taken away from me to another hospital where they could treat her life threatening condition. It was about 18 hours later when I was finally able to get to her; once I was there her oxygen levels finally went up to their highest levels. There's definitely a human bond that would have to be strong between twins (and other multiples).

My granddaughters are identical twins. I was in the theatre when they were born. The first born was perfectly healthy, the second one came 6 minutes after but was born blue, they rushed her over to the oxygen machine and the nurse was performing resusitation on her and placed an oxygen mask over her face. After around 5 - 10mins her body changed colour to pink she recovered. She was placed into her crib and sent to recovery ward to be cuddled and latched on to her mother. The first twin laid in her crib in the theatre with another nurse and her aunty watching over her. I was with twin 2 and her mother. After 10mins twin one passed away and taken to scuboo. A nurse rushed into the room grabed twin 2 from her mother and took her to her sister (twin 1) and after a few minutes twin 1 started breathing again. They were kept in the same incubater together for three weeks. That was in 1988. They are now mothers, and twin two has a set of identical girls they are now 12. What do you call that. After 9 months together in their mother's woomb and to be separated after birth says alot a out separation.

Let me get this straight: you have two beings who before they even saw the light of day, never knew a second without each other, never knew one minute without each other’s embrace, without each other’s company, warmth and strength. Then they are born, and you severe the bond they had before they saw the sun, and then you scratch your head and wonder why one of them, left without his heart, is declining?? What can science say here, that hasn’t already been felt?
We are predestined to love and to connect with each other, as social beings. This science has proven. So why would the severing of that love and connection confuse us?

That day a miracle happened as I was throwing myself all over the place, his twin sister who was sleeping at the time, woke up crying and my boy who had turned blue coughed out what had choked him and he was breathing again. Similar thing happened with my twins. One of them ended up in the NICU and struggled to thrive. When I took his twin brother in and put them together they held on to each other and it made a huge difference. The head nurse told me i wasn't allowed to bring my other baby into the NICU because he was an "outside baby" and might have had germs. I had to sneak him in when the night nurse, who was more lenient, was there. Once it was established that the one in the NICU had much better stats when his twin brother was there, the head nurse reluctantly let me bring him in, but she wasn't happy about it. That was almost 23 years ago. Twins have a special bond for sure!

Having worked in many NICU's over the years we have seen this be the turning point for twins many times. Usually twins are separated when premature in separate beds mainly to make it less difficult to accidently mix up tubes and medications and so on. However, whenever we have had a case where one twin is not doing well or sometimes when both are not, we have found that putting them together even for short periods of time can make a great difference in their condition. Just as we have seen a baby that's going down hill rally and fight and improve with just hearing a parents voice or feeling their touch, multiples do definitely benefit from the support of being near to being able to touch a twin. Full tern twins that have no medical problem don't seem to need this extra support or to share the same bed, possibly because they are so often for periods of time together in a parents arms but twins that are early or sick really need each other. The NICU I currently work in, when we know we are about to get premature twins, we set up two warmer beds side by side and remove the sides where the beds come together. We set up everything with two different color tapes so we know what breathing tubes, monitoring wires and IV tubes are going to which twin and keep them so that they can hear each other and physically be in contact. We have had twins where one does not breath well or has trouble maintaining a good heart rhythms and have watch that when they are close enough to each other to hear the other breath or feel the heartbeat the one struggling will stabilize out and soon both monitors are showing a synchronized heart beat, often at the exact same rate and the breathing the same too. The first few times this happened, we immediately assumed we had messed up the monitor wiring and we had both monitors monitoring one baby and immediately jumped in with stethoscopes expecting to find ones was still not doing well, while other staff was tracing wires to see where we had gotten them crossed up only to find out that we were monitoring separate babies. Its always amazing when we see this and we are very lucky to have a neonatologist that believes twins can save each other and they should be given a chance to be together. As he has said many times of premature twins, not only do they need support for longer as they no longer are connected to their mother who they really were not ready to separate from and that is why we have to step in with technology, they really are not ready to be separate from their twin before they are full term. We don't have technology that can make up for being separate from their twin so the best we can do is keep them together. He actually has us keep twins together, if at all possible, even sharing an incubator until they show us that they want time alone or are ready to do without being together constantly.

NICU nurse for 25+ years... skin to skin is amazing. We have parents hold their twins skin to skin at the same time as much as possible... it's very sweet, the babies seem to recognize each other and reach out to their sibling. We used to have multiples share the same crib (I once had triplets all in a crib, logistically tricky!), we even swaddled them together skin to skin, but with "Safe Sleep" guidelines you can't have anything fluffy in your crib (including a sibling) so the practice was stopped. The pictures in this video cracked me up though (very inaccurate, obviously someone without a medical background) and some of the details had to have been off (a 25 weeker going home after 2 months?) but I love the story behind it all.

She spoke to me and told me what to do and not to do. When I left the hospital, she stayed behind, I miss her so much. We were not identical. My doctor says identical means nothing. A twin is a twin. I have experienced it 1st hand.

I have a twin. Our parents told us we were fraternal, but only found out a year ago otherwise. We had AncestryDNA done to explore our ethnicity, and our ethnic percentages were exactly the same. This spurred us to get a genetic test done, and it turns out we are identical! Needless to say, there is a real and transcendent bond only twins can understand. I can attest to that.

It makes a lot of sense. Twins spend 9 months growing together in a space that gets smaller by the day. Whether the awareness is conscious or something more primal, the separation must be very difficult. The reverse must be true for being united. Twins are very special indeed

You see a lot when older couples that have been together for along time and love each other will sometimes die together with their arms around each other. If that can happen too, how strong must a bond between twins be when they were together at the very start of they’re lives. Love can do miracles, I think this is something that science will never figure out ❤❤❤

Twins are together in the womb - aware of each other, a bonding. So it makes sense keeping twins together in hospital would have a positive effect, rather than separation where they may go downhill. Recreating what was environment in womb would be the best choice.

Also, healthy babies have a very strong natural anti-oxidant production. The simplest form of an anti-oxidant is: an electron. Skin to Skin contact allows electrons to flow between people, so it's possible there is a healing electrical current from the healthy baby to the unhealthy one.

What amazing story I have 2 sets of twins My 1st set of twins could not even be put in the same room as I would attack each but Got closer once they started at school and growing up you could not separate them neither wanted to be in different classes they always looked out for each other they also knew when each other was in trouble Ethan when one of them was in hospital the other 1 the other just cried all night My 2nd set of twins are now 12 I'm now 12 and we are still struggling to separate them When my daughter was in My stomach I lost all my waters but thankfully to her brother. He moving down my stomach he moved across and saved her and if it wasn't for him she would not be here now On the day that they were born they were only going to take my daughter out and leave my son in there as soon as I removed my daughter his heartbeat dropped and they had to get him out quickly Whenever she is ill he always ends in her room looking after her He won't even go to school when she is poorly There is definitely something between twins It's even been when she has spent a lot of time in hospital they will watch exactly the same programmes they will react exactly the same things that it's quite scary my twins have also picked up numbers exactly the same number but at different times So personally I really do believe that twins are very special Also my 2 sets of twins both boys have autism Which I know it's high in boys but boys but it's higher in twins But they are different ends of the spectrum I feel I am a very lucky mum to have to sit I've 2 sets of twins and other siblings which make 7 beautiful children

@@kylerj4506 yes! And the weird thing is, there are probably more Chimaera people today that we don't know about. Since a second twin in the womb may not be noticed in countries where ultrasounds are not given at all. So you wouldn't know unless it happened later in the pregnancy and the mom could feel the second baby.. But from what I understand, for a full absorption to take place, it has to happen very early on in the pregnancy.
And a Chimaera can have 2 sets of DNA as well. Depending on which twin is controlling which body part. One DNA can be found in the blood, while another on the skin or an organ. It's fascinating. But we are identifying more and more Chimaera cases in the Western world where we do ultrasounds very early in the pregnancy. This is a good thing. Except if your DNA is used for some criminal thing, which would make it a lot more difficult.

Twin connection exists from the moment of conception. Even if one passes before the mother realizes they are there.
I am a survivor of 'Vanishing Twin Syndrome'. My mother didn't know I was a twin until after I was born, when the doctors found my twin's sack still attached to the placenta. She did not tell me about her until I was in my early 20s.
I told my friends growing up that I'd had a twin. I remembered her, even named her myself (my mother never named her), I just didn't understand how she'd died, only that she had.
Years later, my older sister experienced the same thing. She did not know her son was meant to be a twin until he was born. Mum was there during the birth, saw the placenta and recognized the sack that the second baby would of been in. We never told my nephew, my sister wasn't sure how.
Not long after his 10th birthday, he said to my sister 'Did you know I had a twin? His name was George!' My sister never named his twin either.
