I appreciate all f the beautiful locations that you travel to. You have a very adorable child! I am trying to watch all of your videos but i am way behind. the last one i saw you must nave been second trimester pregnancy? thank you for sharing thr joys and pitfalls of owning a boat im learning a lot. sincerely art in Tennessee.
Hey! great you guys are back online...Sat question... you talked about upgrading your internet connectivity. Interested in the options you evaluated and costs (if you can!) We'll be on the same 'boat' we'll both be starting w/ remote work. YES I agree w/ folks who don't want do deal w/ internet... but for us it's needed.
How long are you guys planning on being in the keys. I only just found your iTunes channel and I truly enjoy it. I will be relocating to the keys ( probably the middle keys) in 49 Fridays and would love the opportunity to meet you
Hey Ryan, hope all is good with you guys! Where and what did you use to upgrade your bed. So I made the purchase of my new to me boat. The bed blooooooows! Need to add about 5" or more for comfort. Any suggestions? Thanks brutha !
They make hard solar panels regular size and they have a slide out panels under them you pull out when you get where your goi g and double the size of your solar farm and when the wind gets up or your moving the boat and will need to move around the boat you slide them in and lock them
Thank you so much for sharing! My partner and I are trying to follow suit and move in on board. Main issue we are facing, is how to keep a job working only through a computer. Do you mind sharing more regarding your work from home job ??? Thank you again and stay safe out there :-)
Yes ! i am hopping around to find your videos in order ! Hey ! its sailing is a full time custom job ! Say your your are going on an adventure to discovery a new place ! you must be prepared for anything ! You will get it if you look forward
I was wondering if you considered bicycles? I have two passions at the moment: bicycling and sailing (although I have done very little sailing). My future dream is to become a live-aboard cruiser like you guys but also bring my bicycle with me so that whenever I get into port I can just explore on bike instead of having to get a taxi. Much more flexible and cheaper in my opinion. There are even trailers one could attach to one's bike for hauling heavier things. Just a thought.
Life is good guys, It’s great to see you both and the growing baby. Isn’t this what life is about, living it and growing at your own pace. Happy for you both, that you still are on board and enjoying the wonderful world we live in. Best wishes to you all.
I would love to know the list of things for the next boat. We are about 1 year out new to life on a sailboat. Happy New Years! And your little girl is too cute with all her hair!
What a really great list of items, other channels have also pointed out many of the same, Jason on GWTW, recently pointed out how much work it is but the highs make it worth it! Thanks for posting. very interested in conclusion on the choice of boat configuration, I watched your boat search videos and wondered at the time whether the saving of a non owners version was worth it. Cheers Warren
It depends on the kind of lifestyle you intend to lead. On the small side we've heard couples been happy living on a 30 ft monohulls/trawlers. For us, we would want either minimally a 40 ft Catamaran or a 47/50 ft monohull. But for us we want room for visitors. Ultimately we would get a 45ft Catamaran if we have more kids and can afford it.
Wow, just watched your video and I was really impressed and thankful for your effort. We are going to Michigan in 2 weeks to close on our first boat (trawler) for an onboard life the next 2-3 years. Look forward to more.
Guys...I can't believe it's been a whole year! I remember Jess telling me about the idea of getting a boat at work.. Now you guys are living on it full time with a baby! Greetings!
Awesome video, we have at least two more years till we take our boat down the river. We are learning as much as we can to prep ourselves for this next adventure. Videos like yours really help. Thankyou for all the hard work.
Big kudos to the three of you, sailing with a baby must introduce a lot more complications. However I suggest you put the water-maker as Priority 1 as its the single thing you can’t live without. Once you calculate the amount of time you’ve wasted over the last year ferrying water to your boat you would slap yourself
I agree, a watermaker has kept people alive in certain situations when you can’t get to shore, or dealing with bad weather/dull drums on a crossing, etc. It is one thing I won’t sail without. It allows you to feel safer and it’s a lot easier to do your own homemade laundry situation, and washing and staying clean etc. Great video, keep sailing! ⛵️
Very nice, guys. Very straight, simple, direct connection to the "what's it like". I am personally on that path myself, my way, on my own, with my necessary compromises and so I really enjoy and appreciate your story, your versión of it. You surely deserve more subscribers than what you have but also… subscribers are not really so important or they should not be. I'll be following though! And with attention.
I have been following you for about a month and a half. What you are doing is so great. My wife and I sailed our Fontaine Pajot 42 for a number of years in the Atlantic and Caribbean. Most of the sailors we meet are retired and we were in our 60s when we started. It is so nice to see what you do and where you go with that young attitude and perseverance. Love it. It is a constant learning experience.
Hey I love y’all I have two kids. They are four and three. Their mother left when my daughter and youngest was only eight months old. I know it’s hard to have a child but there’s two of you. And that should make anything possible one covers the other one while the other one covers the other one. I don’t have that I’m always the only one
A really good and informative video. Generally I end a video that doesn't contain sailing content, but because of the way you presented this talk I hung around to the end. I really recommend that anyone starting out, or who is wanting to learn before they plunge in, listen to this to the end!
Happy New Years to the three of you, Glad to see you back, the baby is beautiful, having 7 grand children from 3 to 12 they are wonderful. Things will get easier. I am much older and love sailing and boating in general, but I am planning to sail for a few weeks or a month at most. every few months. You both are doing a great job. Look forward to more videos. and thank you for sharing. Safe Sailing
Glad to see U guys back, n all is ok :-) Nice job on the run down of seasons learned, I've saved it for when I get ready to jump, use it to make sure I'm up to it mental, n physically - hope I haven't waited too long, have fun n look forward to next time .
It’s great to be young. So happy for the two of you working through the issues. Life is what you make it. We’re here in Georgetown Bahamas enjoying the warmth. We hit the water in November back in Saint Augustine and haven’t stopped since. Hope we can meet up again someday. Crew of SunnySkye Brian and Becky and our Giant - Shay
One trick I use for water conservation is to wash dishes in salt water. I keep a small spray bottle beside the dish strainer and when I"m done I spritz the dishes down with fresh water. This saves a lot of fresh water. As for electric, I have converted everything onboard to LED that can be. I also use a lot of oil lamps for times when bright light isn't really necessary. I have two 4D house batteries which seem to last me just fine with the 4 solar panels I have on the cabin top. I find you can pretty much turn the fridge off at night once it's down to temp and you're not going to be opening it again until morning.I often call local groceries to see if they'll deliver to a marina. You'll be surprised at how many will and for free too! I once used a small mom & pop grocery in Great Bridge VA. While I was there, I asked if they could give me a ride back to the town dock with our grocery purchase. The owner handed me the keys to an old chevy station wagon and they told me I could use it for a couple hours if I wanted to do laundry or had other errands! Amazing!!!I never plan on being any where at a certain time, I just go with the flow. I also try to anchor out almost all the time. Marina's cost money, anchoring is free! I'm completely self sufficient and I usually store enough groceries and dry goods to last at least a month or longer so this affords me to anchor out and save money and I buy items when on sail in bulk to save more money! I own a ton of tupperware!! I have started out on a very old broke down boat. I'm in no rush to finish it, tomorrow is another day. I watch little to no television I love doing projects and get a great feeling of accomplishment. Also, I find I have an idea, but sometime by not doing everything at once I seen so many other ideas out there that I've often changed my plans and it's come out better than expected. Also, I have found that other boaters have more often than not offered to help me with a project that they have an expertise in not only does that help but the job come out better than I could've done it myself! Plus it's always more fun working with someone else helping!Best of wish to your next year onboard! Good Luck! I enjoy your channel!
Glad to see you back:) 1. There are systems to process waste but can't be discharged in marina...boat: bring on another thousand. 2: To save and make your new dingy easier to clean. I owned an inflatable boat dealership. "303 Protection" Great for UV protection. You can search it on the web. 3: "Plexus" I discovered for use on windows(but is awesome on any kind of plastic type material) cleaner and protector. Again you can look it up to get all the details. I ordered cases of this for our Yacht club. You have to get the water maker working!!! I lived on a yacht for 7 years. "Never waste a TRIP." If your not a list maker, become one, it will save you time and money!
Look at that precious little girl!!!! You kids done good! So nice to have heard from you and enjoyed seeing your list of up-to-date info. Congrats Ryan on the new job! Hopefully you will be able to solve the internet connectivity issue sooner than later so the family can get back out there and truly enjoy the live-aboard lifestyle! Happy New Year!
What compost did you get. We lived on the hook using our we loved it. Super easy to maintain on hook. We have natures head. Now in a marina we still use our compost. The trick it get more then one tank.
Thanks you for the very informative video. I don’t begrudge your current lifestyle but I want that too. Soon I hope. I am a fan of all 3 of you. Fair winds. PS 80% of the time with a motor on (when moving of course)? I wonder why you don’t hear this much from other sailing liveaboards?
I think we motor more because we have been on a time schedule. We just haven't had time to wait for the right winds last year. We are going to try and get more sailing in this year.
We went with Renogy 160 Watt flexable panels. We have a Victron 50 amp solar charger with bluetooth. We got that because we have a Victron with bluetooth for the battery monitor and they can communicate. For batteries we have 600 amp hours of lithium from Battle Born.
Good to see you back and all happy. When you get a chance could you please expand a bit on your Online Solution. Things sometimes take a while to get known in Australia. Cheers
I haven't watched these guys for a while. Jessica was heavily pregnant the last episode I saw. Now there is a small person with them, and Jessica looks amazing. Fair winds to you folks, you're an amazing couple, and now family. xxx
Hey good to see you’re OK, on another note. Well I’ve noticed like all your videos popping up on my suggestions from the very beginning like when you learn how to sail and I hope you’re getting a little bit of help that way keep smiling it gets easier buddy and don’t hope for her to be able to walk because the soon as she can....you got to follow her
Rigging Doctor so would you suggest a composting head over a conventional yacht head trying to decide if I should replace head on a new to me union cutter 32
I hope it was just a poor example on your part, if not you are using the most expensive trash bags on the planet. You said that you take the dinghy to shore, Uber to the market, pick up trash bags and Uber back to the dinghy, and dinghy back to the mother ship. I would hope you are doing a minimum of one weeks worth of shopping each trip, otherwise between the dinghy and Uber your price per item is off the chart. Enjoined listening to you lessons learned.
Happy and Healthy 2019 to the 4 of you! You spoke about saving up for a better comms system.1.) What is that better comms system. 2.) have you checked out the Technomadia Internet Resource folks research? God Bless.
Depending on your internet demands for work, I think you can get to the Bahamas and work on BTC (Bahamas TelCo) pretty reliably and pretty cheaply. You'll just need to check the coverage maps and stay near signal when you need to be in the office.
Motoring 80% of the time is a waste of a *sail*boat. Yes. You are the limiting factor, not the boat. Buy a trawler next time so you don't need to 'waste your time' with the sails, and wind direction.
They admitted to being on a "schedule" all of the time. When they ditch the schedule they can ditch the motoring. My first year I motored 90% 2nd year 70% and now I rarely turning the motor on except in channels.
wow. You two bit off a lot all at once. Not afraid of much are you? That's great I think. Seems like too many people now days are obsessed with being " safe" everywhere and at all times. Living in a boat is not necessarily unsafe but it is less safe in some ways than in a house on land in a city. At least you have freedoms that many never get to experience. I'm thinking about converting to boat life after living 60 years in land. Though it has been pretty good in some ways it does leave much to be desired. Perhaps it's time for a change of pace and scenery. Just need to find a way to support myself while doing it. Cheers :)
I am very interested in seeing how a young family deals with the day to day live aboard experience. Are there many other families that you have come across? A lot of utube channels run by millennial couples with no children. I also enjoy watching Sailing La Vagabond as they have had a child as well.
Hey Ryan, For you to be able to efficiently work remotely, what kind of satellite system are you looking for and what would be the estimate acquisition and operation cost?
Not my business but i feel like your wife is not all that happy with this life..just my opinion.... this is just too stressful.. I rather buy a boat and use it when i need it and have a house for my family...this is just too much....but don't mind me..just an observation,,,not jealous though!
I really like your videos. But your first point about sailing being a full time job?? Come on.. It's sailing its about as fun and amazing a job could ever be..
Nobody cares, just sail without making BS videos. Why is it everyone with a limited knowlege of boats and sailing, gets a boat and thinks they will make a bunch of money making nonsense videos? Just sail or don't
I like their videos... Nice to watch when its 20 below outside... I think their experience is very informative for people who don't know what they are getting into. Make videos of whatever it is you are passionate about and I bet people will watch them..
As an ex cruiser I think they summed up life on a sail boat beautifully; with some very simple information that is especially beneficial to wannabies and newbies; thanks guys for the hours you spend making these free vlogs👍
1st video of the year! Happy 2019 everyone!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Years! And your first video had a looong as play before it started ;)

Yeah you gotta register anything bigger then an Inertube
Awesome+
What is the cost of mooring there in Key West and how hard is it to get a spot?
Great video. Thank you for sharing your experience. Congrats on your 36K subscribers!
Life is good guys, It’s great to see you both and the growing baby. Isn’t this what life is about, living it and growing at your own pace. Happy for you both, that you still are on board and enjoying the wonderful world we live in. Best wishes to you all.
Excellent video, keep it up
nice video. Looking forward to know what are the things you want in your next boat.
So, tk it easy. Offer classes and become instructor..live on land while do wknd boating or 4 hr boating. Do boat and engine repairs.
I would love to know the list of things for the next boat. We are about 1 year out new to life on a sailboat. Happy New Years! And your little girl is too cute with all her hair!

Good video. I'd love to hear more about what you'd prioritize on your next boat.
Would like some advice as to what size boat would accommodate a couple. And things to make a more enjoyable life on a boat.

What is the internet solution you've come up with
Guys...I can't believe it's been a whole year! I remember Jess telling me about the idea of getting a boat at work.. Now you guys are living on it full time with a baby! Greetings!
Love to see you out and about!
welcome back
Great advice! Glad to see you back. Hope to see an update on the renovation.
Thanks again.
Glad you're always looking ahead. So young, so far ahead of the game
Have you guys finished your refitting, hadn't seen video on it yet!
It's an ongoing process. We did a refit update video a couple videos ago. Now that the holidays are over with we will get back into it.
Really well-spoken and balanced assessment... thanks a lot!
Oh, how big the baby is! I am pop-pop to three grandchildren. I love them so much. Make sure your parents see the baby as much as possible.
Excellent presentation of this subject.
Great tips.
Very informative! Thank you both. We'll never know for sure what it's like until we're out there but what a great glimpse.
Thanks for the insights - greatly appreciated! 🙌🙌💯
I have not been watching for a while. I just want to say your daughter is amazingly beautiful. Congrats and Clear skys and fair winds.
Wow love the babies hair....They grow so quick....Cherish these times cause before you no it there talking back to you....Lol.........T.Gunz.........
You guys are awesome! Beautiful little girl! Thanks for the insight/tips. 👍🏼
Ryan hard work will pay off in the end, you will see, hope everything goes well for you guys.
Awesome video, we have at least two more years till we take our boat down the river. We are learning as much as we can to prep ourselves for this next adventure. Videos like yours really help. Thankyou for all the hard work.
Your little one is SO SWEET. I have 3 daughters. 8-)
Big kudos to the three of you, sailing with a baby must introduce a lot more complications. However I suggest you put the water-maker as Priority 1 as its the single thing you can’t live without. Thanks for the comment! You have some really good advise in there. :)
with two young kids. im very impressed your still on the boat. that would be very hard. and a dog to boot. it’s the dog a lot of added work

Terrific recap of life aboard
Thanks you for the very informative video. I don’t begrudge your current lifestyle but I want that too. Soon I hope. I am a fan of all 3 of you. Fair winds.
PS 80% of the time with a motor on (when moving of course)? I wonder why you don’t hear this much from other sailing liveaboards?
I think we motor more because we have been on a time schedule. We just haven't had time to wait for the right winds last year. We are going to try and get more sailing in this year.
Glad to see you back. What's the cost of mooring in the Keys?
Garrison Bight Marina is 300 a month in Key West.
Miss you guys! Glad to see the update :)
Question: what type of solar panels and controller did you opt to get? What is your battery bank?
Fair winds to you folks, you're an amazing couple, and now family. xxx
Enjoyed your video and you make a special couple with your baby.
Hey good to see you’re OK, on another note. Well I’ve noticed like all your videos popping up on my suggestions from the very beginning like when you learn how to sail and I hope you’re getting a little bit of help that way keep smiling it gets easier buddy and don’t hope for her to be able to walk because the soon as she can....you got to follow her
We are refitting our head and keeping the compost toilet (been in full use for 7 years now)
Enjoy the peat life!
Rigging Doctor so would you suggest a composting head over a conventional yacht head trying to decide if I should replace head on a new to me union cutter 32
I hope it was just a poor example on your part, if not you are using the most expensive trash bags on the planet. Happy and Healthy 2019 to the 4 of you! You spoke about saving up for a better comms system.1.) What is that better comms system. 2.) have you checked out the Technomadia Internet Resource folks research? God Bless.
We will have to do a video about it when we do a little more research.
Welcome back, come on show us the remodel, how's it coming along.
Depending on your internet demands for work, I think you can get to the Bahamas and work on BTC (Bahamas TelCo) pretty reliably and pretty cheaply. You'll just need to check the coverage maps and stay near signal when you need to be in the office.
Missing the refit videos... looking forward to how she turns out!
Omg look at that hair!

I too would love to know that as I also work remotely!
Also interested in what your comm plans are as I also work remotely!
Like to know as well
Also very interested

first of all....you are not sailing for me...you are sailing for .....
Great video ----cute baby
Entropy,...what a concept....... (sarc)
Come on.. It's sailing its about as fun and amazing a job could ever be..
nice looking family. a good evaluation of sailing thanks beautiful baby put a life jacket on the baby . sell the boat.
What a gorgeous baby. Just too beautiful!!!
I cringe every time I hear someone say they're are vaccinating their child.............YIKES!
putting poison in the body to make us "healthier" makes zero sense to me. (but maybe it is mandated by the state, for our "protection")
I'm thankful your unvaccinated children won't live long enough to have children themselves.

Don’t like, don’t watch. Otherwise, STFU!
