As if this piece wasn't already fucking mind blowing enough, this guy performs it as if he's bringing about an end to the cosmos. Absolutely outstanding!
Wow. Scriabin himself describes Sudbin's performance in the score; vertiginoso, luminosita, estatico, imperioso, impetuoso, I hear it all! Beside Sudbin's wonderful interpretation is his virtuosity, the beautiful setting, great sound and cinematography. All in all, thank you for this amazing upload.

@@paulprocopolis Yes but, I'm sure Evgueni's performance proved as quite memorable to yourself. To myself, Paul, ten times would qualify as "a long time ago" -- ha! (There seem to be scads of different ways to spell the Russian Eugene, this one above being one.) Ta-ta!
sudbin is a masterpianist, M.A Hamelin finds this among the most difficult he masters it says alot of SUDBIN. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SUDBIN'S 2 CD'S BIS RECORDS SCARLATTI SONATAS....WHT TO SAY, SCARLATTI TURNS INTO GOLD UNDER SUDBIN'S INCREDIBLE FINGERS.
Great to see him really go for , although it does need to breath in a few places ... and I think at least 50% on the notes on the last page were wrong ( and perhaps that didn't really matter!)
I remember reading once that Arthur Rubinstein made a splash early in his career with his his brilliant, but often inaccurate, playing. He was taken to task for it and spent a year or two reffing his technique and cleaning up his playing so that his brilliant interpretations would be matched by flawless execution. I think the same applies here. I’ve performed this nightmare piece (over 40 years ago), and if I’m ever mad enough to do it again, I’ll take the time to bring it to a level worthy of presentation. I’d give myself a B+ on my youthful performance, but then again, I’m not making a career as a concert pianist whose audiences are paying often high ticket prices expecting near perfection. Just ask an operatic tenor who flubs a high C.
holy scriabinoli
I'll be adding that to my vocabulary, thank you very much!
10:22 The E-flats are so resonant in the bass that they somehow make this section feel slow and epic, even though his tempo is so fast.

nicely put !

Very much enjoy Sudbin Artistry with Scriabin Masterpieces
This man just made love to the piano! Bravo!
Alec eroticism is a huge component of Scriabin’s work - I don’t think it’s crazy to make this comparison.
Fantastic!!
Good performance. I want to listen more scriabin by him.
I have been in love with this piece since I first heard Horowitz verion in 1975
but thsi is a fabulous performance, thank you
NINTEEN SEVENTY FIVE>?
are you 69
magnifique!
one of the best interpreters of scriabin
please you try to watch this ruclips.net/video/ux6KXOW4hoY/видео.html
No words, this is just ultimate performance of the piece.
I want Volodos to record it so bad.
Chris Cross I think he is in a upcoming program
the end was kinda problematic though...
@@user-ef4de6ds6f yeah, in the end he missed a ton of notes, but the overall performance is crazy.
Morgan Martinez exactly you can feel his passion in the performance!
A few seconds after final sounds of this sonata must be in absolute silence. Evgeny looked at the window to prevent instantaneous applause...
Unfortunately seems like it was only about 1 second of pause lol
This is probably one of the best (if not the best, in my opinion) performances of the fifth sonata of Alexander Scriabin.

but the end...
I much prefer the Lubyantsev performance linked in the replies. The ending of that one is almost perfect. This is a terrible mess at the end.
Scriabin em boas mãos
Bravo!!!
Great stuff! I'm looking forward to hearing him play this live tomorrow.
So! How was it?
@@jamesmiller4184 Rather a long time ago now!

This is what perfection suonds like.
He really sank his teeth into this one. Expansive like I've never heard it before.

Wasn't it Richter who said that this is one of the hardest piano pieces ever?
Is George Russell
F*cking rockstar performance!

gut
wanna see a page of black ink?
Eargasm
Unfortunately he kind of flubbed the last run
Performance was crazy though
I think it was acceptable given the performance was great
So now, please tell us all the things you've not "flubbed."
We're interested.
He certainly went for it at the end and played with explosive passion - unfortunately slightly too much at the expense of accuracy.
Who cares ? Not me

god, I wish I had come up with that!!@@jamesmiller4184
It is live, after all. His studio recording is very clean and very exciting.
LOL! It's not Sudbin's "sonata no5", it's Scriabin's :))) what a fail! Great performance!
thats the name of the person who played it lol
Wtf
