The way this character was written it was made to be unlikeable any actor could play this role and I would feel the same way. Tariq hated his father for accepting JAIL! for him which was THE WORST! thing a father / parent can ever do to his own child / son it's no forgiving jail! it's nothing lower than jail! & it's NO! coming back from jail... Tariq was hurt for multiple reasons and Tariq was angry for multiple reasons as well but Ghost never had not 1 clue that his actions with Angela Valdez that broke up his family was the ROOT! to Tariq's scorned rage hatred for him til his end.
Tariq is really just kanans way of getting back at ghost. Once he found out that he disliked his parents, every seed he planted to make ghost look like a selfish deadbeat was in tariqs head, saying things like 'this is who I am' calling him selfish and a liar, just kanan using a confused kid for revenge. Yup that’s exactly why he didn’t kill Tariq that night he set him up. He knew Tariq would eventually kill Ghost and the fact he turned his only son against him and helped him jumped off the porch was the revenge he wanted.

Tariq was a young TEEN! WHO thought his father was rich (clean wise) he was innocent UNTIL! he found out by Kanan Stark that his father is the baddest drug dealer and that the riches all came from (his father's) drug deals not that Tariq was judging but his anger came from him thinking his father is 1 way when he is another way the lies also damaged his trust with both of his parents (mainly his father) because how can you trust your parents if they lie too you?! you can't but after Tasha told him a LIL of the truth Tariq then understood why his parents were lying which was to protect him when he was a innocent kid who knew nothing about the game but after Kanan targeted him twisted HIM up turned him out ran game on him all of which almost got him shot and killed by Jukebox... after almost DYING! Tariq was no longer innocent and then WITH Jukebox EXPOSING! HIS father's andd Kanan's truth and then forcing Kanan to confirm it with Tariq HELD! at gunpoint which left him (traumatized) and sanity wise messed up which was why he was drinking lean to cope after that was all exposed it WAS NO REASON! for Ghost to lie about it ANYMORE!... his son was almost murdered because of HIS! past BETRAYAL! to Kanan and he was smart enough to understand the truth a little of it BUT Ghost kept lying andd it was sad how Ghost could not see that if his son knew he was the son to a drug lord HE WOULDN'T of been GREEN and EASILY influenced to the game / crime lifestyle of which he Raina and Yas were born in but was covered up with lies andd dirty riches of which Kanan influenced RIQ! with by paying him a lot of money from setting up robberies... it was Kanan who took advantage of Tariq not KNOWING! anything about the game which made it sooooo EASY! to corrupt Tariq into the game which he did to get his revenge! on Ghost and after all of that came full circle Ghost STILL!! wouldn't OWN! his truth not even after his ONLY! son was almost killed and that's what angered Tariq so much... the lies also played a huge part in Raina's death because she wouldn't of lied to protect her brother from getting into trouble if she wasn't taught by her parents to lie to protect the family and another thing because Tariq and Raina found out the TRUTH! about who they were = kids to criminal parents they BOTH HAD NOO STREET! awareness this is what is still and will! forever be misunderstood... also Tariq was never delusional he just wanted to knoww the truth after HE was ALMOST! killed because of it as for Ghost he had hella chances to be honest WITH!
