I felt so honored that you read my comment and made such excellent suggestions for how to tackle my basement. I will replay what you said so that I can take notes and apply your strategies. Bless you for your help. I'm very grateful.
So happy your safe. Hope all is well, thanks for both doing this , I watch you all the time for years I have now a clean decluttered house , got rid of a lot of clothes. Getting ready for taxes paper work not my favourite. 40 years of stuff has gone now I have clean lines ,lots of space and also stop shopping, I sorted , got rid of stuff and gave to donations, trying to get it done before I get old or sick . Everything has a home so I find it and bring it to its home . I use plastic bags for garbages in the house and to give things I get out to people.
I have two cats and actually have to get bags from other people to keep up. And yes I do use two at a time. I also use them for actual kitchen, bedroom and bathroom trash.
So glad you’re safe and sound! Been loving the podcast. I keep peeling the onion at my home and it’s been brilliant working with my sister with dementia. One box at a time from her attic and a drawer here or there doesn’t seem to overwhelm her and she’s happy! Thanks to you both! Good luck with the move, Ed😁
I survived the Arctic Blast with power outage, loss of water and bursted pipe and destroyed tankless hot water heater. No shower for a week. I sure was wanting those disposable paper plates and utensils I had purged! I’m having to rethink what I declutter and keep some Emerergy supplies.
I recycle most bags, but also at some stores, i bring my own bags.. the grocery store bags that I do keep, I take the time to fold into little squares & store in container. It takes up less space & I can see how many I have. 😊
I have two sisters in Houston who were without power and heat and had to boil water when they got electricity back. They're okay but it was scarry knowing people in Texas were freezing. Glad you are fine.
My problem area is the end task of getting stuff I don't want or need to a final destination. I also liked the puzzle idea. When Im done sorting, decluttering or cleaning my space will be pretty as a picture.
That’s the hardest part 🙈 Is it because you don’t know where to take it because of COVID? Or because it feels to final & you are not ready? Or something else? I had to create a box of ‘trial’ items that I’m testing out if I can live without them. Just keep them separate from your definite pile or you will end up resorting them! Usually after a few days I know if I can let them go or not. For finding places to go, we have a local clothing bank and everything else I put on Facebook market place. I’ve decluttered hundreds of items since October doing that. Good luck 😊
@@gingersnap1568 I struggled with that too as I run out of energy. I worked out that taking pictures of items as I go and putting them straight on Facebook market place helped. It integrated part of the getting rid of process into the deciding part and when you get messages about collection it’s a prompt and motivation to get them out onto the doorstep! I hope you can work out something that works for you. Honestly I’ve put up over 130 listings like that and 95% has gone so just 1 box for the recycling place!
About plastic bags... stores in my area can no longer use plastic bags. Be grateful that you still have them to use! I use them as cushioning when I mail things and also to wrap items for storage, such as Christmas decor.
You have been so generous for years and given out your knowledge for free. We've seen you go through hardships and yet you just keep on giving. How can we send an offering for the services you have already provided? Please tell us here or in an upcoming video or in the description. Thanks, from a fan forever - me.
To eliminate smells in kitchen. Use up small plastic bags to collect scraps , take out wrappers etc on kitchen counter. Tie this small bag and then put in kitchen trash can. also keep a supply of these bags in the car as mini trash bags, for the same purpose. I keep a supply of these plastic grocery bags in the car, in an old zippered tote bag, so I can find and store them easily,
Glad you are safe. My big project is moving house. My onion layer was not decluttering related but I had to find somewhere to move too and I’m just waiting on the credit checks 😬 Last week I finished my 1st pass decluttering the house, 2nd pass this week while packing! Also about plastic bags, they are like money in England because you have to pay 5p for each one. I use reusable bags and pack my own shopping and as soon as I acquire an extra I put it in my reusable bag and either offer it to someone else in the queue (pre COVID) or put it in the store bag recycling bin on my way into the store next time I go. I have bags with a natural antibacterial properties so as soon as I’m done unpacking I put them back in my car right away 😊 going to have to change that a bit after I move, I don’t think a 2 storey flat climb just for bags would be appealing.
I have a question about grocery bags. We will be moving and I don’t get a newspaper and don’t have towels to finish stuffing boxes with books to keep them from moving and messing up thru the move. Am I in danger using them? If so...what do I Use???
Low income people in Australia don't have to do tax returns or to report any financials so I will invent another weekly task. There are plenty so there's no problem there, haha.
If you could - it would be great to wait a while before getting vaccinated. I’m following a fb group of covid vax reactions and there are many reports of adverse reactions. I think it would be a good idea to delay 6-12 months to really consider if it’s something you need - especially as covid has obviously started changing and there are new strains now - there’s a good chance the vaccines now will no longer even be effective 🧡
This is a decluttering forum and anti vaccine messages posted here are totally inappropriate. Unless you are an expert in Infectious Disease and vaccine development you need to keep your comments to yourself. Mrna vaccines have been studied for years and are safe, and even if the virus mutates and becomes less effective, it still may make the difference between life and death if you are vaccinated. The sooner the majority of us are vaccinated the LESS OPPORTUNITY WE WILL PROVIDE COVID 19 OPPORTUNITIES TO REPLICATE AND MUTATE. Know anyone who has polio?

It was a great topic idea!
It was a pleasant surprise to see that you made a video. I'm glad you came through the storm ok. Thanks for all of your helpful videos.
I wouldn't change those early videos for ANYTHING! They are great.
lol thanks!
Those are the ones I saw first. I was sad I couldn't attend.

@@ArtyAntics I just have trouble completing tasks. Once I make a plan though and get in the habit of doing it I will get over that hill.

Progress....not perfection.😌💕
Plastic bags degrade as well. Especially with temperature extremes. Use or lose (by donating) as suggested.
My pet Millennial calls your jigsaw puzzle "Tetrising."

Know anyone who has polio?
@@CopingwithGrattitude I grew up when Polio was still a threat, and went to school with children who were crippled by the disease.
