I have a 2006 s430, my wipers turn on every time I start the car or just turn on the key to position 2 they will come on, when they stop, they stop in random places. All the positions function from the switch so I cannot figure out what's wrong. Can you help me?

Very nice and easy to follow video. Hope you can help me. I have a 2006 S500. About a year ago my wipers and washer started having issues sometimes working sometimes not. But now both functions washer and wipers stopped working completely. What is strange is that when I turn the wiper switch or push in for the washer, my SOS light and brake light blink fast. I also noticed my steering telescoping or tilting works like its jittering or lacking enough power when i try it while i have the wiper or wash function in on position. Any ideas what's going on?

Fuse 78 in the passenger side fuse box controls the wipers, adjustable steering amongst other things on this car. Did you end up solving the issue?

He glosses over a critical point at 6:48. If the orientation of the gold piece that attaches directly to the motor spindle is off by even a few degrees, the rest position will be off. You CANT fix this solely by readjusting the individual wiper arms, as the problem lies in the overall travel of the underlying mechanism/arms. Learned that the hard way.

@@justsayin4632so how do you fix it?

@@Toni-ot5vlBy adjusting the orientation of that gold piece a few notches (degrees) in either direction. That gold piece moves BOTH arms simultaneously, so if you try to adjust for any misalignment at the individual arms, you won’t fix the problem (and could just make it worse). In other words, if the arms are in “sync” with EACH OTHER and the problem is they are just not stopping at the right spot, then you only need to adjust the gold piece like I stated above. The only time you adjust an INDIVIDUAL arm is if say for instance, the passenger arm moves perfectly thru its entire range of travel and parks in the correct spot, but the driver arm doesn’t, that would mean the gold piece and passenger arm are fine. Just the driver arm needs adjustment. See the difference?
IDEALLY, you mark EVERYTHING before it’s ever removed so that the splines are lined up perfectly not only on each individual arm, but on the gold center piece as well. If you already screwed up and didn’t do that, it’ll just be trial and error rotating the gold piece on the splines one tooth at a time til the arms park correctly again. Not a big deal, just will add extra time to the job that could have been avoided if you marked it correctly BEFORE disassembling.
