Cheers for the valuable info. Now deciding to sell my Vantage over getting the Nexus. Thought my medium Vantage was a bit snug with my facemask on, so slightly bigger is the deciding factor with the magnetic buckle for me. Just so expensive in the UK even if I import it with duty and postage from over the water. Not stopping me buying one in the next week or two though.
The sizing and magnetic buckle are probably the 2 biggest reasons for choosing the Nexus. I had an XL Vantage and it was always really snug and not that comfortable. The Nexus is nice and cozy.
I've read some negative reviews mainly due to the BOA cord inside the helmet. The complaint is that it can cut into your head just behind your ear. Have you experienced this?
No. I find the Nexus really comfortable to wear. Ski helmets are a little like ski boots. Different brands have different shapes that feel better for some people than others. My wife has tried a bunch of Smith helmets but keeps going back to her Giro helmet because their Asian fit helmet is wider shaped than any of Smith’s are.
I think gloss helmets show scratches just as bad. I put my Nexus in the helmet bag when loading it into my Dakine roller bag for travel. It's still looking good after a couple of seasons.
@@greatlakesbikeskiboat I love the matte but the coating is fragile and is going to brake down and peel off over time. The coating on my Vantage from 2019 is deteriorating some what and comes off easy with a finger nail. Maybe they improved the formula since.
@@flortheberg if you have a helmet that has a coating that is falling off I would contact Smith and see if they will warranty it. I've got them to replace a bike helmet, and a set of 4D goggles now. The helmet size adjuster broke. The 4D goggle silicone on the strap kindo f melted and turned gooey and mucked up a helmet. Leads me to my other theory. I have seen at least 1 example of the silicone on Smith goggles reacting with the helmet coating on another brand helmet. I have a friend with an older Smith helmet where the matte coating is completely gloss now around the goggle strap area. If the item is only a few years old it's definetely worth contacting Smith to see if they will replace it or atleast give you a discount voucher. They are pretty good at doing something.

BS
How so?
I just wish they didn't make it in matte. I feel like that's gonna scratch easily. Other than that, it's the best helmet ever.

@@greatlakesbikeskiboatGood tip. We moved out of the US though so might be difficult to get the same support level now.
