IMHO, the rear seat set-up is absolutely an afterthought. No doubt our excellent Australian after-market crew will sort most of it out in short order, but it it's hard not to feel Toyota have done just enough where everyone will buy it regardless of any issues. I wait and watch. Thanks for the video.

Loved this video , even though I won’t be buying a 250 ( I’ve had a 2010 150 Prado it’s now got around 250 ks on it , not ever one issue ), kaon gear is so good , glad they are an Aussie company . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You’re too humble. Be sure to never justify a vehicle purchase so you can do R&D. you’ve worked so hard over the years and I’m sure will make some awesome products for this new horid Prado. Good luck.
It was genuine honesty - when the 250 deposit was put down, it was led by R&D; this evolution (which is great for better understanding the vehicle) has come organically since. You're 100% right; it'll be nice to see Tin and the family enjoying comfort in their future travels. ☺
Car sales you tube report motor failure caused by water ingress. Perhaps you could investigate and rectify the problem? Keep up the great work, love your stuff.
Finally! KAON getting on the 250! Have had the Prado here in the UAE for a while now (we don’t have the hybrid version) and looking forward to what you what you come out with! Had a Pajero in Saudi and shipped stuff over for that too!
see if you can reroute battery to the side or under the 2nd row seat somehow. Or you can have reroute options ,to the top shelf where you would have pie oven, that way you also protect electronics from water during crossings and people get more boot space as floor will be lower. you can have 2 floor options with and without battery reroute
From what I’ve read, it’s to do with Australian Emissions standards and preparing for the changes coming in the future, meaning they needed it to be hybrid, so had to out the battery there. Other countries don’t have the battery and the seating is normal.
The hybrid is a global product. Australian emissions are no more strict than most other western countries. It really does look like it was thrown together. One advantage of the clumsy setup though, is that it is going to be trivial to service compared to more integrated setups.
From what I have seen of the new Prado and you show at the end is a good compliant third row seat delete. There seem to be some questions regarding warranty and compliance with a third row seat delete. I presume you saw of or have heard of the one review vehicle died because of water and the battery somehow. Perhaps you can do something to waterproof the battery setup. That whole rear setup looks like an after thought. . One thing I am sure is that you will come up with some good solutions and mods for this new model Edit Saw an update on the Prado 250 that the battery died from water. Apparantly water got in via the air filter and the 48v system failed Sounds odd but we will prabably never know how it died, but a few youtube channels have picted up on it now
Definitely a lot of questions for us all with the rear row, no concrete answers from Toyota does make it tricky. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds!
I love your media team, Laughed out loud when they put a registered mark on "Tin's list of things he really likes and want to consider on this vehicle"
22:34 lol @ lights, that model with those round lights ain’t in Aus and NZ. I had to pause and zoom in to see you printed those out and stuck on. 😂 good one!
Sorry Guys, picked my Prado 250 "Dusty Bronze" Altitude up yesterday and I'm very happy. I still have my Prado 120 which has a lot a Kaon accessories in it which are great and well designed, and I'm excited with you guys designing accessories and your mindset on what and why your designing that part for the 250 series. I have the cargo barrier, fridge barrier and shelving in the 120 and I'm looking at doing the same thing once their available. Also looking forward to underside protection and possible step replacement. If you wouldn't mind could you please hurry up 🤣🤣 HaHa. Keep up the great work and love the videos.
Congratulations. Love watching your videos from New Orleans, Louisiana. I have the 5th Gen 4Runner. Wish we could get some of the Toyota vehicles y’all have on that side.
Comments like this blow our mind a little! Glad ot hear you're enjoying what we're up to from the other side of the world. The 4Runner is a fantastic platform, wish we got it here too - but you're right, with the 70 and the 300 we really shouldn't complain!

Heres some tips about the Lights Long lightbar across the fron just above the plate, thats what I did with My FJ, Im with you guys dont bother with a winch and bullbar, they just add weight. Im in a big camp of keeping the fj close to stock as possible, but fingers crossed this thing has as much balls as the fj, Wish they did it in petrol v6 here. Id never buy a diesel.
Never heard of you guys, Ive had my Fj since new and I consdiered the prado before i lost my job recently. You really cant beat the FJ, shes built for it. I dont have kids so If i win lotto Id love to buy your FJ and keep her with her sister for life. Jeeze your son and you look alike. Mines done 75,000kms
Can you get flat packaged house/accessory batteries that will fit neatly under a platform that accommodates the current battery pack? It might not be wasted space at all. I think a well thought out platform could be beneficial to the batteries in general, if it is robust enough to protect them, and it is built with some thought about temperature control/ventilation, it shouldn’t be hard to engineer a better solution that offsets warranty worries.
I love personal this video is. Raising your kids correctly here. Congratulations on 10 years of your business! Can't wait for more to come. I do love how toyota used the fjs mirrors for the 250. Sadly it seems to not be holding up as well as prados of the past.
There's a lot of similarities between the FJ and the 250 when you sit them side by side! They seem to have gone largely unnoticed but it was really cool to spot them when we had them parked side by side in the workshop.
Thanks K & the gang - your intelligence is obvious and very rare in the 4WD industry - do you know if you void Toyota warranties when rear two seats are removed and any mods to rear components eg battery and electrics compartments?
When we asked our dealer the essence was that Toyota hasn't given an official stance on it. So it's anyone's guess at the moment! Believe it would come down to the natural of the modifications and in the event of an issue, whether it could be proved (or disproved) that the mod affected any systems.
@ thanks for replying K yes that makes sense - a voyage of discovery though I went for the five seater model as a ‘townie’ because I use the Hilux for farm//touring duties - the ‘24V/water ingress’ RUclips story in the engine bay and missing bolt in front left suspension component is certainly something to note - my Prado will be kept stock as a 12 mth lease vehicle with a set of good ‘truck’ Yokohama Geolandars to support the heavy whale behaviour of the Prado on open windy roads here - personally if I wanted to pull the horse float up and down steep hills the V6 Land-cruiser L300 is a better choice but I’ll wait for another 12 mths to see how the industry is dealing with it’s oil/overheating behaviour before I actually purchase one.
What is the camp trailer you tow behind the car. I love your down to earth videos and humble beginnings. You deserve to do well. Looking forward to see what 2025 bring's and beyond.
I was watching another review of that Downunder Prado, y'all. That review said it's illegal to remove the third row seats in Aussie? Is this true? I know your ADRs are pretty strict and all? I know all my Aussie mates get their Fourbies Engineered to keep their upgrades legal, coz your coppers are pretty harsh, especially in Qld?
Generally, removing the third row in Aus means the vehicle needs to get a mod plate (blue plate / compliance plate) to state it is now a registered 5-seater. It isn't difficult to get, but does incur an expense. Usually police won't get you for minor deviations like that (at least in QLD anyway), unless you're being particularly painful to deal with. Many folks will just get mod plates done because its easy and removes the concern. We'd be in that boat, too. With the 250, there's definitely the added complexity with a lot of speculation that removing the seats and altering anything in proximity to the battery may void warranties - but Toyota hasn't officially commented, do only time will tell.
That battery location is so disappointing. I know it was the easy option (as it just uses the mounts / housings / etc from the petrol hybrid) but there seems like there was plenty of other ways it could have been done!
@ I’d been told that locally they saw it and freaked out. And the bin was developed last minute, locally, and actually delayed release. I guess we are not considered a big enough or important enough market to develop a dedicated moulded / pressed plastic part! It’s a shame it can’t be under the second row seat like the hilux - but that would mean loss of tumbling / access to third row. The overseas non hybrid / non 48V versions have a 3rd row similar to the 150 where they disappear into the floor.
@ certainly a controversial solution that has caused much conversation. Many people claim to have cancelled orders. The truth would be interesting but we will never know.
T/H. From Local to Global awaits Sir ! ! Time to test these products from Kaon to our world, as the area of competition is proving ground where 'Dakar' awaits. Now that you have completed with the Y 150 ... Can you guys put all that you have done or made for the Y150 into one long video so we don't have to watch bits here and bits there .... Thanks in advance
@KAONaust would love the full in-depth ones .. showing everything and explaining everything... Showing how to install everything too... That's why I mentioned a long video 😂😂
Slightly off topic, but out of interest, what are some of the ways you've stored water on the FJ in the past? I'm trying to solve this one at moment, without carrying on rear door or overloading roof rack with combined weight of water + accessories etc I love the 150 Prado water tank you designed, wish it could sqeeze under the FJ 😅 Good luck on the 250 ✌️
I believe it's mostly been that Tin and the family store water in their camper trailer, and use Rotopax or smaller interior storage containers to augment that if needed. Wish we could fit the 150 tank under the FJ too!
Toyota told the press it voids the part of the warranty that involves the third row seat. If the seat is out and no one needs it then doesn't matter I guess! But when other parts fail like 48v battery or wiring and they get to blame the removal, then it'll get expensive. It's a high volume global product, Toyota will get slammed if their attitude is negative when they invented this 250 in full knowledge users WILL be removing them for practical touring use!
Great video. Unfortunately Toyota killed the Prado with the 250 which is what happens when you try to please everyone. What they should have done is produce a "green" version for Europe and for the rest of the world produced a useable 4wd version without the battery system and adBlue.
@ I used the term “killed” metaphorically as the new 250 diesel / adblue combination is inferior to the straight diesel of the 150. So there is no question that the 250 will continue to sell but I look forward to see if the adblue engine drops out in the future once the illogical “net zero” lunacy is arrested by a change of government. It appears diesel versions excluding adblue are available on offshore markets. So have they killed the Prado? For me they have and I will not be replacing by 150 with a 250. Thanks for your comments though.
@@TheGalah-z3k Apparently the south African version doesn't have adblue and the hybrid system,i was looking at getting out of my 200 series for one of these, but we only get this version in Australia ,very disappointing.
@ I wonder if you could import the SA version into Australia. The freight would probably kill it, but it would be interesting to see what the cost would be.
I’m guessing there were engineers at Toyota who are horrified about the packing of the battery but were overridden by the bean counters who chose this because it was cheaper. It’s hard to imagine any engineer was proud of this.
I am guessing it was added very late in the design process to get it over the line for emissions, so it is poorly fitted like an aftermarket part. Toyota already had to save RnD money by using the Land Cruiser frame, but with heavier steel parts for the first time. Instead of an improved Prado they built a low powered land Cruiser.
Those front white plastics buffers below the headlights loook so damn ugly and yes the round retro headlights that every other country got look so much better. Perhaps design & develop a scaled down lightweight front alloy bar that gets rid of hideous plastic buffers and allows mounting of spotlights would be a perfect project even if you have to do it jointly with a local bar manufacturer Please do a Kaon product to get rid of the spare tyre under the rear (it was such a backward move by Toyota as was going away from the side opening tailgate which was perfect as gave you direct access to the cargo bay and the option for the fold-down table which is so!!!! useful as we would not be without one now. Also please explore that 48v cooling fan vent uinder the cargo floor as with water cossings/puddles as watched in horror re that YT review offroad where the water ingest via the fan shut down the car and it had to be towed back to a Toyota Dealer. Very concerning for any trips where water crossing is involved. No water bottle holders in the lower door map pockets was a big fail as with delete of sunglass strorag overhead which i use all the time - perhaps develop an overhead bolt in multipurpose panel as per the Grenadier "which is awesome" giving that aircraft cockpit vibes but also very functionable. Yeah that back cargo area sucks - interesting in Sth Africa they did not bother with the 48v volt system and it was completly deleted so they have a normal alternator and startor motor and a flat rear cargo floor (why we we not offered that option is hard to understand)
All those people asking for a folding 3rd row when the 120 had the removable 3rd row….. seems that the 120 had by far the best set up in hindsight. That 48v system is a bit of joke. They made that cargo area unusable for a 300w battery 🤷♀️
Wow! What a stupid place to put that battery and controller, wtf Toyota? No way would you risk taking this through deep water crossings up the Cape like Nolans ect... What a disappointing 4wd, it's certainly not the 4wd for those of us that want to the adventurous and very remote tracks.
Awesome new adventure, I just watched car care nut on failure cause of Toyota hybrid batteries which rare. Cooling is the key. The cooling design is very similar looking to the Prius he showed. Keeping that fan clean is key aparently. ruclips.net/video/TGhv2RdjpHU/видео.htmlsi=wB18N1ns588hby2Q
These arent design as a 4wd! Tgey are designed as a shopping kart and uber for mums. With a hybrid people of junk installed just so there's more complications
Watch CarSales video to understand that this new Toyota must not be used off-road, they fried its 48v system by driving like any SUV ..... in a poodle.

Will pass it on to the team. Just the R&D highlights from things we made specifically during the build last year?
@KAONaust would love the full in-depth ones .. showing everything and explaining everything... Showing how to install everything too... That's why I mentioned a long video 😂😂
@KAONaust I am keen to get my rigg full of your gear ... I am in Vic ..
The FJ would be a perfect 1st car for your son.
Keep it in the family.
There is a lot of space under the bonnet … surely the 48v stuff could have been placed there somewhere
Slightly off topic, but out of interest, what are some of the ways you've stored water on the FJ in the past?
I'm trying to solve this one at moment, without carrying on rear door or overloading roof rack with combined weight of water + accessories etc
I love the 150 Prado water tank you designed, wish it could sqeeze under the FJ 😅
Good luck on the 250 ✌️
I believe it's mostly been that Tin and the family store water in their camper trailer, and use Rotopax or smaller interior storage containers to augment that if needed. Wish we could fit the 150 tank under the FJ too!
I heard that removing the rear seats voids all the warranties. Hope that is not the case.
We asked firsthand and the dealer was unable to comment. Guess only time will tell!
The boot on the 7 seater is less practical than the boot on a GR Yaris. Even with the rear seats down!
Are these things waterproof?
Time will tell! There's been a lot of debate.
Don’t go flush unless you add cooling/fans etc. it needs to breathe or u will get stuck
Great video. Unfortunately Toyota killed the Prado with the 250 which is what happens when you try to please everyone. What they should have done is produce a "green" version for Europe and for the rest of the world produced a useable 4wd version without the battery system and adBlue.
Killed is a little extreme! It won't be discontinued, it's a big seller and will remain as such.
Perhaps design & develop a scaled down lightweight front alloy bar that gets rid of hideous plastic buffers and allows mounting of spotlights would be a perfect project even if you have to do it jointly with a local bar manufacturer
Please do a Kaon product to get rid of the spare tyre under the rear (it was such a backward move by Toyota as was going away from the side opening tailgate which was perfect as gave you direct access to the cargo bay and the option for the fold-down table which is so!!!! useful as we would not be without one now.
@@krh007 love this! Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed insight, it’s genuinely great for us to hear from people directly.
All those people asking for a folding 3rd row when the 120 had the removable 3rd row….. seems that the 120 had by far the best set up in hindsight.
That 48v system is a bit of joke. They made that cargo area unusable for a 300w battery 🤷♀️
Somebody really needs to make an aftermarket solution to that tow bar cover, it looks hideous.
It's not the most discreet thing, is it.
Hate the round lights on a square edge car,,,,
Don’t sell the FJ. Give it to your son mate, there’s a big market in US that it might come in handy for
Golly that boot: Toyota is on the slippery slope into a world of pain but we can always get into a GR Yaris for some fun..
The GR Yaris is fantastic, isn't it!
How to shame Toyota Motor Co, why can’t their R&D offer such cargo space options?
Wow! What a stupid place to put that battery and controller, wtf Toyota? No way would you risk taking this through deep water crossings up the Cape like Nolans ect... What a disappointing 4wd, it's certainly not the 4wd for those of us that want to the adventurous and very remote tracks.
Don't wash the ugly nugget, the motor might short out 😂
Older generation is better and more practical i don't think they will be dropping in value to much with this new generation.
Awesome new adventure, I just watched car care nut on failure cause of Toyota hybrid batteries which rare. Cooling is the key. The cooling design is very similar looking to the Prius he showed. Keeping that fan clean is key aparently.

Thanks for sharing the link, will pass it on to the team!
These arent design as a 4wd! Tgey are designed as a shopping kart and uber for mums. With a hybrid people of junk installed just so there's more complications
The more I see of the rear luggage compartment in these, the worse it gets 😂
Toyota have done such a poor job on this, it's just sad.
Watch CarSales video to understand that this new Toyota must not be used off-road, they fried its 48v system by driving like any SUV ..... in a poodle.
Small dogs accept 4wds inside them now? Haha

jesus what a shit design that boot space is---toyjoka laughing at you fanboys
Overpriced overrated Toyota shitbox
