Yeah I think the metronome detracts in this instance - because there’s no quantifying. Emphasizes how things are slightly off beat that normally wouldn’t matter. J Dilla didn’t quantize either iirc. Impressive when done well.
Burial has permeated many monumental moments of my life and continues to be one of the greatest and most influential soundtracks to my life - a constant in my headphones - I hope that his music touches you and is as impactful on your life as it was mine ❤
Burial is the only artist that can take R & B songs and a video game ost and turn it into something M A G I C A L. I hope one day I can use samples from my childhood music and video games and turn it into art! 🙏
Hip hop, rap, and modern r&b artist sample video games sometimes. That's what I like about sampling is just taking a sound you like and flipping it and recontextualizing it.
This song has so much more emotion when you realized burial made this exact song after his dog died. He was devastated and his mom told him to put those emotions into a song and archangel was born. His dog is his archangel and he couldn't be alone. 😢
i usually don't like when tracklib tries to recreate sample flips, but this one is so insane with the pitch shifting that its actually really dope to see how it was done
Burials ukg 2step beats with his atmospheric soundscapes and amazing ability to capture ridiculously good vocal samples made this album peak future garage.
Either a comprehensive understanding of music theory or a good ear. If the vocal is singing one pitch for the moment of pitch change then you simply need to repitch it to a note within the key!
probably either pitched it specifically to match the key of the other sample. or played around to just see what worked. working with samples is always just tweaking for ages till it sounds good
nope. he made all of untrue in "soundforge" which isnt even a real daw. its like making music in audacity. so he couldnt have used melodyne. he probably just has a trained ear n knows his scales lmao@@Chicken-1923
@@Chicken-1923 thats what we would do now, but back then he was making these beats on soundforge or some random ass audio program, that didn't even have a grid or quantisation, so i doubt he used melodyne
Burial is an absolute legend of the British Underground. If you haven’t heard his stuff. Go check him out NOW. His album ‘Untrue’ is a masterpiece and if you’re up for a heartbreaking 12min post-modernist soundscape, check out the track Come Down to Us ✊🏽🇬🇧
The kick drums follow a two step pattern. That's what really dubstep means, dub (double, two) step. Its just evolved in to something completely different 😊
Downtempo breaks like this and this artist specifically is what the dubstep genre stemmed from : source been there and done that - burial is in top 3 favourite artists for me - and was incredibly influential in my own work
My dude really sampled Metal Gear Solid track, respect 👍
He used so many sound effects hidden in his tunes behind snares and hats. Absolute artist he is
Not just mgs
MGS2
that's based
His love for video games is insane. He literally paused his production to play Dark Souls 2.
He samples the shells falling on the floor. And it works so well. It's beautiful.
He sampled the tunnel sound from half life 2 in the beginning of Archangel
Burial is an absolute G 🔥🔥🔥
the greatest to ever do it, he was placing and programming grooves with no grid or quantizing.

@@djtjpainJ Dilla did quantize more often than not. Which makes his work even more impressive imo. Since he was manually offsetting everything himself
This is the reason because this grooves!
@@zomboss-xb1st I call what j Dilla does “Advanced quantizing”

Now ima cry every time i listen to this album
When dubstep was in its prime
Your comment is going to confuse so many brostep heads 😂
When dubstep wasn't the butt of a joke
yep
Always found it weird people calling this dubstep when it has more similarities to garage
@@jeffcelis3024they are americans they dont know half what they speak on
Lord, if I only could forget that whole album and listen for the first time..
how he did this in sony soundforge lining drums up with actual physical rulers will always baffle me, a generational talent
Fuck yes. This might be my favorite song of all time. sampling aside, the atmosphere on this track is just so haunting and beautiful
Ya'll gotta do Clams Casino - I'm God
they already did lmao
Clammy Clams was the dude
This break down with the visual component is insane
Ray J is gonna forever eat off of that one song alone for eternity.
Metal gear solid 2 and ray j is something I never fathomed would sound so amazing
That's mind blowing
The way the vocals pitch shift around is just brilliant
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Love how he changed the context
im flabbergasted
no cap
Love the Ray J sample. It really compliments the Metal Gear Solid sample
Peek dubstep
It's not dubstep. It's UK garage. Faggot
And / or Garage
peak music full stop

Yes this is would agree is the best sample ever
This is actually insanely mindblowing. Some won’t understand how genius this is.
best burial sample ever!
Guy made it in soundforge in 20 min after he lost his dog. Another lvl🤯🔥
An absolute classic banger
Hauntingly beautiful… 🙏🙏🙏
Love this song
Burial is a BEAST
What a legendary track
And the melodic main line at the end sounds to me like Rosalia's “Candy”.
Epic tune!!!!
one of the greatest.
This is amazing
That’s brutal vocals.
Really love this but one thing that bug me is how did he kept the vocals in key with melody while playing with the pitch 🧐

Archangel is my religion
Loved how Rosalía interpolates this track on CANDY’s chorus, such a classic tune
Vocal Hits different when u know he Made this the day His Dog died
What a fucken genius
that "Tell me I'm" part sounded like The Weeknd
damn incredible
Gad damn so dope
Burial is a genius
Freaking insane
Forgot about this one
Agree rhat this is the best vocal sample flip
Yooo!!!!! Thank you!
Burial mentioned 🗣‼‼
I never wanna hear that again
Why did I think of candy by Rosalia
Rosalia interpolated the lyrics, from WhoSampled
this reminds me the weeknd in echoes of silence
that can’t be the best vocal flip ever.
It is though
he sampled half life in this too
An underrated one is "Gettin' by" by Apollo Brown
GOAT record
Man liebt diesen Track einfach nur 😎🤟😎🤟🤟
Ne ich nicht
Sampleflips...💖⭐️.
Burial...⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🏾
How would you describe this genre
That's what actual dubstep sounded like...
Watch "All my homies hate skrillex" if you wanna know more about it.
I thought that title was for devil in a new dress
Can you please show the genius sampling of Ice JJ Fish
Had fucking no idea that was Ray J holy shit
Vince was right
I really like this song it aussi inspired Rosalia on candy
Like I can’t stop thinking of both songs all the time they really grow on you
Best vocal sample ever is Boadicea by Enya
He might not have used the original acapella, but a cover
That's "Etched Headplate", and the sample for "Angel" or whatever that original song is called.
Burial is next level - this shorts is about 10 years late?
Better late then never - great music is always great regardless of the era
