  • Namaste! I'm Dr. Robert, and in today's "5ish Minutes with Dr. Robert," we explore the power of Bhakti-devotional love. 🌿🕉️
Many consider bhakti to be the best spiritual path in Kali Yuga, and it’s all about the genuine, pure devotion one has for the divine. My mentor, Vimalananda, often quoted Baba Chandaldas, who emphasized that the power of devotion can channel divine energy and inspiration, making your words and actions come true.
Bhakti is different from the path of a yogi, as illustrated by the story of Narada and Vishnu. While the yogi became frustrated with his spiritual progress, the bhakta rejoiced in the opportunity to continue singing the name of God, no matter how long it took. This pure joy and unwavering devotion led Vishnu to grant him liberation immediately.
Bhakti is about surrender, joy, and deep connection with the divine-qualities that make it a powerful spiritual path.

Would add one thing to what Dear Dr Svobda Sir already mentioned, many people both in India and the West don't really appreciate Bhakti as it needs to bring 'Belief' in the equation. Ironically these people are raising the right/best question and even more ironically their question is the reason why Bhakti Yoga is supreme. We ALL (except for select few) are living in the era of Zero Divinity and hence the first task is to come out of Atheism. Once a person or an ascetic - in this era / Karmic climate (known as Kali Yuga) - knows for sure that Divinity exists (and this world is not really a random motion), that day that person/ascetic/aspirant/Yogi achieves real success. Then there is no looking back. From that stage exponential growth happens. You have NO IDEA how difficult it is to get a glimpse of divinity in this era, because that is what the actual challenge is. Bhakti is the only feasible way out because you are requesting your Deity or Avatar to start interacting with you (and thus remove this cloud of uncertainty), the phenomenal part is that you are requesting in the first place (with your Ishta Devata) because you already have some genuine connection from that particular Deity or Avatar from one or more of your previous thousands of births, hence you chose that particular Deity of Avatar as your Ishta Devata. That's why some reckon Ishta Devata to be by far the most important and useful concept in the current era/Karmic climate. This invisible bond between you and your Ishta Devata triggers an association first and then if the practitioner is committed then he/she can use this 'association' as a doorway to come out of the smoke/uncertainty of Kali Yuga aka Atheism (capital 'A' because more often than not Atheists with a good value-system actually come out of this uncertainty faster than most of the rest and are 'made' in that instant). That's the truly incredible potential of Bhakti Yoga, one BIG reason why Atheism is more prevalent outside of the Indian sub-continent is that people living in those areas don't have the luxury of knowing the Astral world and hence get no option to choose a Deity or Avatar to genuinely relate to (you would like to select your favourite movie star when provided with an array of actors, not when somebody tells you to select from one or two options - that too in many cases with no known form). It's all about finding your 'Ishta Devata'. Wishing everyone a Very Happy Janamashtami.

In actual practice, the stereotypical distinction being made between yogins and bhāktas in a partisan Vaiṣṇava story are often less clearly delineated. Īśvara Praṇidhāna is a niyama, after all, and most cult leaders rely heavily on blind devotion.

"i do not know is a tremendous possibility" confidence without clarity leads to disaster. U cannot know the truth if u believe or disbelieve something because belief means assuming something that u do not know. If u genuinely realise that u truly do not know a damn thing about this universe then the possibility of knowing and experiencing the truth becomes a living reality. Dont compare how dwapara was before because it had residue of satya yuga but right now we have a a residue of kaliyuga hence it's difficult to believe in what I'm saying. What i truly want to say is dont believe me or anyone or any book including so called scriptures written by anyone in this world blindly just be open minded and be a skeptic. Never in the history of humanity there was availability of internet. Now globally things are changing very rapidly and we are moving towards new era because only truth triumphs. Strong believing in something or someone without know the reality leads to confidence and hence to disaster. Spirituality means seeking the truth not believing or disbelieving anything just trying to build millions of questions about existence bhagwad Geeta is full of questioning. Religion means belief system which will destroy the possibility of knowing the truth. Earths axis makes a circle "wobble" in 25920 years which is set of two yugas. We are in dwapara yuga and treta will start in 2083CE

According to the vast majority of Indian astrologers and spiritual leaders, we are currently in Kali Yuga. This age is believed to have started on February 18, 3102 BCE, and will last for 432,000 years, meaning it has approximately 426,875 years remaining as of 2024. This view is based on traditional interpretations of Hindu scriptures and is widely accepted in Jyotish Shastra, the ancient Indian science of astrology...

@@stephenromey6348 I respect Sri Yukteswar and Sadhguru ji for the kind of person they are, But they're misinterpreting our scriptures by saying So. In Short, We are in the Golden age of Kaliyuga, which lasts for the first 10,000 years, and we haven’t even entered the First stage of Kaliyuga. Dwapar yuga ended with the departure of Shri Krishna for The Goloka.
The Yugas go in a linear pattern, and not in some sort of cycle, and there is nothing like “ascending dwapar” or “descending dwapar”. Don't believe those guys who claim to use “common sense” Because their common sense won't work against the divine phenomenon or the mind of those Sages who wrote our books. I won't be using any quotes or verses here, and i will try to explain things to the point :
There is a misconception regarding the timelines, The people who say this is dwapar yuga, Claim kaliyuga is of 1200 years, but the truth is that, kaliyuga is of 1200 DIVINE years, and one divine year is equal to 360 human years, which means kaliyuga will last for 4,32,000 human years, and even the Padma puran agrees with me.
In the Brahmavaivart puran, in an ongoing conversation between Krishna and Devi Ganga, He clearly tells her that, first 10,000 years of Kaliyuga will be the golden age of Kaliyuga, where Developments will occur, and it will come to a big halt after the first stage of Kaliyuga begins.
Now they have created their own theory of the cyclic pattern of Yuga, which is also Incorrect. Srimad Bhagwatam, Bhavisya puran and Kalki puran clearly mention that satiyuga will commence after Kaliyuga is ended by the Kalki avatar. So, the theory of ascending/descending dwapar/treta is false.
They say that Kalki is just a personification, but it is also wrong, because Bhavisya puran and Srimad bhagvatam clearly describe the appearence of Kalki. Now if you dont believe this, then Kalki puran talks about his whole life story. Do you think someone will write the life story of a mere personification?
If Kaliyuga ended, then where is Lord Kalki? where is devadutt? how come warriors of Mahanbharata times lived beyond the age of hundred years when it was Kaliyuga at that time? The srimad bhagvatam clearly says that the age of a person will become 50 years by the end of Kaliyuga.
Even The legendary scientist Aryabhatta in his Surya siddhanta says that Kaliyuga began in 3102 BC, the time when Shri krishna left this abode and went back to Goloka. Dwapar yuga ended right after Shri Krishna left. we still have 4,26,878 years for kaliyuga to end, and it will be followed by Satiyuga. The theory of 2025 is also a fallacy, and plus there are various symptons of Kaliyuga given in purans that match with today’s condition.
conclusion : we are in the Golden era of The age of kali.

Sure, but a yogi dedicates their practice to Lord Vishnu, Shiva, Atman, or Brahman with profound devotion, aiming for union with the divine. As such, yogis are often focused on this spiritual goal and are less concerned with the next two lives, knowing that their path will transform those future experiences. Their awareness of this ultimate reality makes them resilient. On the other hand who does not like a crowd cheering for one and, you also not gonna leave behind the one who has left everything for you.

Bhakti is the easiest way to attain Krishna in this Kali-yuga, as stated in the scriptures-thanks for pointing that out. It’s much harder and rare for yogis to attain as states the Bhagavad-Gita. It’s a no-brainer for me! Bhakti-yoga ki Jai! Bhagavan Sri Krishna ki Jai! Radhey Radhey! 🙏❤️
