Why is it that so many of the best bands I'm finding these days are Canadian? Guess the U.S. has done it's utmost to kill all that is original and wonderful in music. Thanks for the great music!!
This is genuinely, honestly, the most beautiful thing I've heard in years. I've been going through an awful slump of depression thanks to the holidays, and my birthday coming up in less than a week, and discovering July Talk makes things a little less shitty. Thank you for allowing me to find beauty in negative spaces.
By sheer dumb luck, I saw the Stripes play in a small venue back in the early 00's before they broke wide open. These guys rock like the early Stripes. I could listen to this song on a feedback loop for hours.
Stripes/Jack white, and these guys just have that stage presence that goes perfect with small venues. they really get into and feel the crowd. just saw these guys in detroit , fucking brilliant.
I'm almost glad these guys haven't busted into the mainstream yet. It means I get to enjoy their phenomenal music with the people with taste good enough to get them here :3
yeah they are the best band ive seen live. for fucking 10 bucks too!!! Im really hoping they are gonna have a lot of success but at the same time...im gonna miss these small venue shows they put on.
ikr... I dread when good music is discovered because the comment section just becomes a cesspool of "whos here from the new apple ad" or worse, when its some youtuber and it becomes "Milkstrutter25 sent me here"
You guys are awesome wish i saw you at the edge keep going keep doing what you do you guys are amazing and have a passion i rarely see anymore in music
Some make comparisons to Tom Waits, while I see it, I must say the voice is more like Hugh Dillion of The Headstones. The shear intensity of the music and loudness again reminds me of The Headstones and Big Sugar. Their dynamic balance and "tightness" is similar to Metric. (Metric also came from the Toronto scene) You mix those great aspects together you get July Talk!! They sound unique yet familiar. Comfortable but edge-y. .They truly deserve all the credit! A masterpiece of talent!
My ex and i used to fick like wildebeasts listening to july talk. So proud that they're Canadian. Glorious sons, July Talk, motorleague, big sugar, dead south, the beaches and Dallas green... If you're not proud to be Canadian ill bust my bottle of crown on your head.
Goddamn saw these guys at Edge fest and i can't even put into words how good their live performance was of both these songs oh man im really hoping these guys get famous for real!
The point to that is their concept of "Beauty and the Beast", essentially. While he is all rugged, growly sexual tones, she is his opposite, being delicate, quiet and soft. It creates really interesting effects throughout their music.
+Kelsey Goritz It's interesting because when they're live, it's a whole new dynamic. She's a crazy, dreamy party girl, and he's her more level-headed rock.
I can't get enough of how beautiful both of their voices are and how well they compliment each other.
what happened to this band? i don't see them as active anymore
I’m replying after 6 years

I’ve had this song on my play list for a decade and I’ve no idea how I found them.

Either that or a Quentin Tarantino movie...
I wanna smoke a pack of Marlboros with this guy and hold each other up as we puke on our shoes after a shared 26 of Jack Daniels!
I just could not agree more. And I don't even smoke.
Saw this guy live and he walked by me in the crowd... But yeah me too. :p

Responding to a 7 year old comment, but its a vocal technique actually, they just came out with a new soft album if you want more of these guys.
and me
Gibson strap on a Fender.... I like your contrarian attitude.
Am I the only one who thinks the girl is Karen O? As well as her being a babe
I’m here because of Killjoys.
(Y) duuuuuude
I really like the male singer - but the female singer is a bit weak.
