Hi Scott, I test rode lots of bikes including gsx8, hornet, trident, 850gs and cb650r. They are all great bikes some more powerful than others hornet has bonkers power top end, but in the finish I bought gsx8 in white as it fits me like a glove, has all the power I need and feels lighter and planted in corners, i don’t regret my choice for 1 minute makes me smile each time I ride. If anyone is looking for a ride in this class go test ride one you might just be surprised how good it feels.
Yea, so true, the Honda looks just like the MT07, in fact I saw them together at the dealership and thought...hmm...in a line of many bikes you really can't pick either one out but this does stand out a little bit more. take care, Scott
Great review, very enjoyable and informative. In Ireland the Suzuki is only €250 more expensive. The Hornet looks too bland for me, I would pick the Suzuki every time.
Nice review and a bit surprising it got such high praise. IMO that front end is not ugly - when you put it up against Yamaha's MT range, or any KTM, its basically a Cinderella amongst ugly sisters 😂
To me the great engine and transmission with perfect fueling puts it well past the Hornet. Plus end of the day I much prefer the looks and the fact that this is a more substantial bike and not as toyish as the Honda.
after testing the 8s i agree. its more expensive than the hornet but a lot more substancial and better built. When i decide to retire my 20 ueqrs old sv650 this will be my bike
The colour is definitely out there, perhaps an acquired taste. Having not ridden this nor indeed the Hornet, I am guided by you. You are not wrong about the looks from the front.
Cool, thanks Scott. Been waiting for this review. Are you able to post a brief video comparing the Hornet and 8S or comment why you picked the Hornet. You mentioned throttle, how did the suspension compare.? . Have now briefly test ridden the two bikes. Keen to hear you comments, you have more time with the bikes.
Excellent review (what's happened to Sardinia?), it seems that we're being blessed with fantastic tech, switches and dashes these days. The Hornet and the,......whatever the Suzuki is called, are both fabulous machines neither is pretty, however. It's really good to see the main manufacturers making an effort, and keeping way ahead of cheap Chinese clones.
Thank you! Sardinia, time is the problem, there is not enough of it. Now is the time for riding bikes and editing the reviews and posting the videos on youtube. That is taking all of my time right now. Sorry. take care, Scott
The suzuki is really cool looking imo, just needs the optional tail tidy (suzuki makes it already)... Stay away from the Chinese crap, the Japanese bikes have been the most reliable since the start
Awesome bike!! Bravo Suzuki!! Do you think the A2 version can be beginner friendly bike as a first bike!? I love the SV650, but this 8S is..vowww man 👍👍👍
Thank you for your Hornet and Zuk reviews. Both very informative and helpful. Based upon your 2 videos and the bikes themselves, if I were in the market for either it would have to get down to a test ride. Sy, schoephf
Sounds like you really liked the 8S but in the end you chose the Hornet. Curious why sense the Hornet/8S are my top contenders and would probably buy/order one of these two immediately if possible (Hornet not yet available in the US)? Mostly curious if you consider the Hornet a more fun/exciting bike to ride?
It's more of a personal preference really, looks, feel, fit finish, I mean there is nothing bad or wrong with the 8S, I just don't prefer it over the Hornet.
Thank you, going strictly by feel and not the numbers on paper, they feel very close as far as when they really start to pull (torque). The numbers say the Hornet is 450 RPMs higher than the 8S but I can tell you that it's so close in the difference that it really should not be a deciding factor in which bike you pick. Fit/finish, looks, price, dealer, distance to dealer, all these other factors should be more of a deciding factor than just torque (& most important which one moves you) when they are so close in torque. take care, Scott
Can you get into more specifics for why you’d pick the Hornet? I know you liked the Hornet’s motor and price, but please make a direct comparison summary all the relevant points and tell us in the comments.

Fueling is better, more planted, more substantial (bigger), more torque, better build quality, better looks, standard quickshifter, better brakes. Nobrainer for me, the Hornet looks like a toy, cb500 and 20yr old styling
I've been trying to get my hands on that bike for 2 years now but due to the bikes not being available in proper quantities, I am left out in the cold. take care, Scott
Yes, kind of. KTM state 70kW, which translates to 93.9hp & 95.2ps, you just got hp and ps switched. On the chart, I had what the original 790 duke had when they first released it, which is 78kW = 104.6hp. When I made this chart they didn't have the numbers of the new 2023 790 duke yet, so I guessed it'd be the same but it's not, it's actually LESS! 😢 I fixed it, now it's correct on the chart 👍 thank you, Scott
Nice review of a nice bike! However your remark "a face only a mother could love" got me L.O.L.! It's an ugly kid among ugly sisters and brothers, because the MT-07 is an ugly duck too. Now I understand why you two chose the Triumph 😂
Im not really a fan of the looks of either but the hornet is so boring id go with the 8s. Plus im still offended the reborn gornet has only 2 cylinders
I personally wouldn't because this is a lot more money, so you would lose quite a bit on the trade for just a little more power and torque. Unless you really like the looks, then it's emotion based, then, at that point, money does not matter 😁
@@NothingToProve What would you recommend as a next step up from a sv650? I was thinking about the gsxs750 or z900. I used to own a fz09 but really didn't like the twitchy throttle.
Man this thing is budget. How can people buy bike with no/bearly any suspension adjustment. Doesn't Make sense. They have no control over the way the bike handles Some one size fits all nonsense
This GSX-8S makes a real vacuum cleaner noise, it struggles to go up to 200km/h on the speedometer and if the road is not flat it never arrives and its headlight barely illuminates the road at night. Motorcycle too expensive and boring to death

I think it looks great in white. 👍
Great review Scott. I’ll be picking the Suzuki over the Hornet. It just looks so much different than the cardigan Honda.

Awesome Bike and Awesome Review! 💪😎🏍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥...cant believe u prefer the hornet tho 😅

This bike is so much nicer looking than the Hornet.
Nice video. What a beautiful town
Hi again. Enjoyed the review a gain too. I bought a black 8S with a belly pan and the Suzuki fly screen thing. Love it.
The colour is definitely out there, perhaps an acquired taste.

You are not wrong about the looks from the front.
"Perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect!... But I prefer something else" :-)
Hahaha, thats it
Big Honda Fan, but this will be my next Bike. i love the torque, it just makes me smile...❤

The 8S looks beautiful in that color.

I love the look of this
But I'm going with the Honda
Interesting. Here in Denmark, the Hornet and the 8S costs exactly the same.
That is interesting, I wonder why. Thank you for letting us all know!
take care,
Scott
Love your honest review bro i would like to get the hornet too
Best reviews! Thanks!

Thank you Scott
My bikes a hornet 750 and in 2 days an v strom 800 for far Destinationens with my girlfriend
Love both bikes, im lucky to have😊
great review as usual
Here in Canada the 8S wins because the Hornet isn't available:(

Great review. Is it made in Japan like SV650 ?
@11:38 to be fair, remapping won't be for free :) so it will be 800 less but with a snatchier throttle.
Good review! What should i pick if i am only interested in low end torque response? The hornet or this?
This one. The Hornet has more power but at higher revs, also slightly less torque but at higher revs than the Suzuki.
A HOG 😁

@@NothingToProveI understand. Thank you.
I like the front, but putting the brake light on the plate support is insulting
Glad I went with a gsx s750. This thing sounds like a moped and the front is ugly. Rides nice though, but nothing like the S750's geometry
Sounds amazing with an exhaust. ;) lol I would get an S750 but no QS and after owning an MT09 I need an QS and throttle by wire.

Nice review. If the Suzi was the same price a Hornet fitted with a quick shifter, which would you choose?
Hornet, it's just more solid, more bike for the money.
Does this or the fellow Vstrom generate a lot of heat? One reviewer eliminated these due to heat?
Test rode the Suzuki, bought the Hornet. Just a better all rounder
Hornet any day✊🔥🔥more power cheaper and better looking✊🔥
Would you go for this new or a nearly new bmw f900r? thanks
Will you be reviewing the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT ? ... if not already on your radar, this is a request 👍 Thank you.

I was ready to go with an Indian FTR S. I have a Suzuki GSXR so the GSX 8 S is the better bang for the buck.
Handling?
IDK if im wrong, but 2023 ktm 790 duke is 95hp isn't? check all other stats too

@@NothingToProve I like the looks of My Z650 better the Front light is Nicer to look at same. Colour as the one You Tested a While Back
Thanks
It's not that it's ugly, though it sure tries to be, it's the fact that it just looks like it's designed and built by a committee without any style.
You like this over the base street triple?
Nope.
Does it feel like a good step up in power from a sv650 ?
Not a lot, no. But torque, yes.
@@NothingToProve What would you recommend as a next step up from a sv650? I was thinking about the gsxs750 or z900. I used to own a fz09 but really didn't like the twitchy throttle.
You you are perfect 🤩
There is no comparison sv650 has no counter balance shaft, it is a balanced. Find a used sv650 and be happy with the goat.
Agreed!!! 👍
1.5 more expensive than the new hornet less hp.. I test hornet. Hornet hand down in this category.
Seems a great bike but man... that insect/robot front end look is not my taste.

Honda has a retarded turn signal/horn location, BIG deal breaker for me as i have multiple brands of bikes.
