  • I built a new log arch for my trailer and I wanted to show everyone how it works. I decided to combine the ideas of Matt Cremona and April Wilkerson and add of few features of my own. And I even found a way to off load them without a fixed anchor point. This oak tree was its first test. The largest section of the trunk is about 32 inches across and 8 feet long. I'm really excited about this because I hope to build Matt Cremona's bandsaw mill right next to these logs.

Right! Having stops on the foot plates eliminates the need for an external anchor. However I probably wouldnt unload anything bigger like this. Safer to use a tree or something

Nice job dude. I have been researching different ideas for arch trailers and I must say this seems very versatile and well built. also well done on your video.

i built one similar but is usualy stationary works great for winching log to the trailer and i dont have to pick up the weight of the arch all the time.

HOODS CUSTOM SHOP , I saw your system. I did like your system. Something that has the metal loop flopping hard against the trailer kind of bothers me. I did like this fellow's stops he had on the back of the hoop mounting plates to keep the hoop from going down too far. I need to make myself a loop of some kind. My neighbor offered me a short but big around log that's in his yard and my small tractor can't pick it up. Could be helpful for loading machinery as well. Tom

@@Okie-Tom check newer videos my log arch doesn't flop at all. I've changed the arms to a 3 position system. 1 unloading and stacking position 2 loading position and 3 on trailer stacking position. I have plans to make the arch positioning be done by hydraulics. But would almost need a full trailer rebuild.

No leg stands at the back of your trailer means you are seriously leveraged on your trucks hitch connection which could compromise your hitches safety. Most heavy equipment trailers have fold down supports to reduce the stress on your tow vehicle's trailer connection.
