Lazybitch from the US and sponge candy to me would be a chocolate covered cake type candy but idk if I’m just confused or it’s because I have a British friend and associate sponge with cake from years of translating.

I had some chocolate covered honeycomb, in Texas, on Valentines Day and I had forgotten how much I loved it. Truthfully though, I don’t know what the flavor was, I thought it was suppose to be honey flavored.

I think you need to do a special edition! coat them in white chocolate colored yellow...put pants and eyes on it and call it Bob sponge candy!!! After that I'd probably like Irish creme!!!

Why don’t you make your own honey comb? It’s easy just make your peanut brittle mix without the nuts and don’t get rid of the foamyness by rubbing it onto the table? If that makes sense
I watched a "making of" vid for sponge candy. the process as you mentioned is similar but they have to let it sit overnight and expand and harden. They probably don't have enough space to do it.
Louise - keeping it as foamy as possible is how I make my peanut brittle and I don't understand why they don't do that also. Getting rid of the foaminess is counteracting the whole reason of why you added the baking soda to begin with.

Doesn't sponge candy taste like brown sugar and malts? Adding fruit or berry flavors sounds pretty odd to that. flavors like salt, coffee or vanilla might be more suitable.
Dark orange is the best, but I would try peanut butter out all the choices.
agree, no alcohol, not a fan of pina colada flavor, doesnt sound right. I love pina colada as a drink but with a candy i think upfront 'this is not going to work' my favorite is seasalt. keep it simple is my humble advice.

y00bz thank you for that info. I will investigate. Didn't know about the name change. I do get the odd food parcel from friends in the UK and really miss good chocolate. Not keen on the choice in Italy.
Awesome taste test, thanks so much for sharing it! I love the honest feedback you all give, that makes a big difference when you sell a new product. I personally love sponge candy the old fashion way, just covered in chocolate. I don't eat it that often, but when I do I relive the "childhood experience" lol & love how the sponge crumbles in your mouth with the chocolate, I think it taste great. Karen & her tools of the trade. haha I need my tools back, I'm starting to shake. LOL

I can't buy them but I can tell what my favorite flavors are. I have a top 3 that I really like and that is 1. Peppermint 2. Peanutbutter and 3. Raspberry (sorry Kelly 😉) This is what I usual buy when I want a nice treat for myself. And peppermint in not only for Xmas. I buy that the whole year around.

Sea Salt is popular, so that one first. Raspberry or peanut butter next. Orange would be good too, but you don't have it. Then the Irish Cream, which could also be a Christmas flavor. Save the Peppermint for Christmas. Sounds like the Pina Colada needs it's recipe reformulated.
Only part way through this video and I can't wait to tell you how much I love sponge candy. I used to always buy a candy bar called Violet Crumble, which is a sponge candy covered in chocolate. It was the best candy I have ever had as candy bars go. They don't sell it in the states anymore but, if you look it up on the web you'll see how much that candy bar is going for where they don't ship it. Until they stopped shipping it to the us I used to buy it for 75 cents, but that was years ago. Now it goes for A LOT more if you want (I can't afford it) pay for it. I think you would get a lot of sales if you sell it for a reasonable price, even locally. Check out those prices on the web and read about it. My opinion is plain sponge with either a dark or milk chocolate coating.

I love to put my sponge candy in the freezer. Might have to take a trip done the road to the McKinley Mall and check out the candy store.
The more I read about salt, the better it seems it is for us. Our bodies need the Cl- from the salt to make stomach acid (and stomach problems are actually the result of too little stomach acid rather than too much), and the Na+ from the salt is used in the sodium/potassium pumps in our body. Apparently that old study they did years ago (I think it might have been at the Mayo Clinic, but don't quote me on that), that pertained to blood pressure was somewhat flawed as in their testing they lowered BOTH sugar and salt in the patients' diets (and thus it is sugar that raises blood pressure) --- and there are now health professionals who say that moderate amounts of healthy salt is actually what your body needs.
I vote peanut butter! If I lived in a place that you all could deliver to, I'd definitely purchase that. I mean, I may or may not have just put my container of peanut butter away after dipping my spoon into it several times, so maybe I'm biased. But peanut butter. Definitely.

HAVE had your original milk chocolate sponge candy (we call it fairy food) and it was thee best I’d ever had. The only one that sounds good to me is the one with sea salt.
