Very few HoFs accomplished this in their NBA debut. Just an observation. MJ's shot was so impressive because the arc was quite flat compared to a higher parabolic shot. This meant he had to be more accurate. However, it enabled him to shoot quicker and get the ball in the net faster. All adding to MJ's mystique.

I’m a very young Chicagoan and he would’ve been a little before my time, but from asking older Chicagoans consensus is he was something special pretty much within the first month of him entering the NBA. By the mid to late 80s is when there were legitimate conversations about “this guy is the best to ever touch a basketball”, a view that was further solidified by the early 90s.
