I was at Glenview and on Hiawatha 338, just before the train departed, I heard some rare yet unsettling chime before an announcement that the train would arrive Chicago in 20 minutes. The train had 2 Siemens SC-44 Chargers (4611 & 4620) with a whole set of those Siemens Venture Coaches. I heard it twice. Those were my first times hearing them.
@@manuelalvarado6510The Surfliner cars and the Acela were built in 1998. I believe the Surfliner cars entered service in 1999-2001. The Acela commenced in 2000.
This Amtrak PA system chime reminds me of the three note bosun's whistle sound effect that was used for the ship's intercoms on the original Star Trek series.

Pacific Surfliner 😎
I've always loved that sound. It can also be heard on the Amtrak Acela Express.
I heard it when I was on the Amtrak capital corridor from Fresno to San Francisco and I’d always loved that chime
And I also love that chime as well
When did Amtrak introduce this PA system sound on their trains?

That’s also Capitol Corridor’s & San Joaquin’s Surfliner fleet announcement intercom
This is also on the Acela
That’s so spot on
suspicious
Amazing.
Thanks
@@RailVisionaries You're welcoke.
I remember when it used to be on this Capitol Corridor
What trains is the intercom sound used on? I already know that the Pacific Surfliner does.
Acela uses it

The Acela and the Pacific Surfliner has the same sound of this intercom
This doesn't play on Northeast Regional, only Acela. Regional has old-school real bells.
