En un lugar de la constelación Ara, en torno a una estrella sin un nombre propio, sólo conocida por la letra μ, cuatro planetas trazan sus trayectorias. Alrededor de un autor de fama universal, también giran sus cuatro personajes principales. Nos proponemos elevar a Cervantes a la condición de un Apolo galáctico, dando su nombre a la estrella central del sistema, mientras que Don Quijote (Quijote), Rocinante, Sancho y Dulcinea se transfiguran en su escolta planetaria. Quijote (μ Arae b), el protagonista, en una órbita algo excéntrica, como corresponde a su carácter, junto a su fiel compañero Rocinante (μ Arae d), en el centro de la escena. El bueno de Sancho (μ Arae e), el ingenioso escudero, moviéndose lentamente por las ínsulas exteriores del sistema. La Dulcinea encantada (μ Arae c), tan difícil de contemplar para Don Quijote en su verdadera forma, cerca del corazón del escritor.
La importancia de Miguel de Cervantes en la cultura universal no puede ignorarse. Su obra principal, el Quijote, considerada la primera novela moderna de la literatura mundial y uno de los libros más influyentes en todo el canon literario, ha sido calificada en numerosas ocasiones como la mejor obra de ficción jamás escrita. Sin embargo, mientras que Shakespeare ya tiene nombres de sus personajes como satélites de Urano, Cervantes ha sido hasta ahora excluido de las esferas cósmicas. Con esta propuesta, apoyada por el prestigioso Instituto Cervantes, y llegando justo a tiempo para celebrar el 400 aniversario de la publicación de la segunda parte de la novela, reclamamos para el famoso caballero de la Mancha, sus compañeros y su creador el lugar que se merecen entre las estrellas.

Somewhere in the Ara constellation, around a star without a proper name, only known by the letter "mu", four planets trace their paths. Around an author of universal fame, also his four main characters revolve. We propose to elevate Cervantes to the status of a galactic Apolo, lending his name to the system's central star, while Don Quijote (Quixote), Rocinante, Sancho and Dulcinea are justly transfigured into his planetary escort. Quijote (muArae-b), the leading character, in a somewhat eccentric orbit, befitting to his character, and beside his faithful companion Rocinante (muArae-d) in the middle of the scene. Good Sancho (muArae-e), the ingenious squire, moving slowly through the outer 'insulae' of the system. The enchanted Dulcinea (muArae-c), so difficult for Quijote to contemplate in her real shape, close to the heart of the writer.
The importance of Miguel de Cervantes in the universal culture can hardly be overestimated. His major work, Don Quijote, considered the first modern novel of world literature and one of the most influential book in the entire literary canon, has many times been regarded as the best work of fiction ever written. However, while Shakespeare has his Uranian satellites, Cervantes has been so far excluded from the cosmic spheres. With this proposal, supported by the prestigious Instituto Cervantes, and arriving just in time for the 400 Anniversary of the publication of the novel's second part, we reclaim for the Famous Knight of la Mancha, his comrades and their creator the place that they deserve among the stars.
