Great demo! My favourite is the Trace Elliot 410. But I think where this pedal comes into its own is in its ability to load in any IRs. Definitely worth a look!
Sounds great! I play mostly acoustic guitar and use an octave pedal to create bass sounds with my looper. Looks like this would help take my bass loops to another level.
I had this pedal and I love it so much I give to my brother in law cause I got a helix, were using as a bass cab sim for my sister and his wedding this saturday, this pedal straight to the mix board going out the sub and main speakers sounds amazing and alive
Yes brother, I feel like just by using the cab sim from it, i dont need a preamp for it, espeically if the bass is active and has a preamp already to it
Awesome demo, Ivan 😎🤘🏻🎸 this cab sim pedal sounds nice. And I agree that the bass in the band mix without the cab sim sounds more present, but does sound rather rough on the edges. The cab sim makes the bass track sound more smoother and sits in the mix nicely.
Thanks for the great Bass demo! I'm going to add a card/link of your vid in my review of the electric guitar cab IRs! btw, I had many of the same issues as you did with the firmware, etc but all in all, I really dig this little pedal. Cheers!
If it comes loaded with three switchable banks, what's the firmware update for? Update: Okay, got mine and went to my local library to attempt the update. Had trouble trying to open the downloaded zip file to get to the "start" button. A librarian helped me and we got it done.
Ivan, thanks for the demo, I personally like the SV 810 and the Mark Bass 410 they seem to give the best sim of each of these cabinets imo. I am going to be using it for the first time live this Sat. and will post a gig report on our favorite place Talkbass :). Thanks again for the advice on the pedal rtslinger from TB :)
My review after Sat night, I had it in the chain as after the SansAmp into a passive di out to FOH. That did not actually work as well as I would have hoped. The signal was weak and so after the 1st set, I switch it. I placed the cab sim after my compressor out to the SanAmp bass driver D1 and then DI out of the SansAmp this worked great and I was very happy with the results. I hope this helps anyone who wants to add this pedal to your live performance. As Ivan suggested folks put it before your favorite di :)
Thanks for a nice review, also the one of Cobalts. Did you have a chance of trying also the Studio mini bigger brother and can tell a differences? Thanks.

It's quite strange.....
Hi Ivan and thanks a lot!!! Your RUclips videos are veri cool and interesting! I have a question for my next amp/cabless rig. Can i plug the solid studio mini in the mesa boogie subway plus fx loop in order to have the cab sim on balanced preamp out? Thanks and greetings from Italy
Hi Francesco! I think you shouldn’t have a problem doing that :) You only have to pay attention to how high you have the “master” control. The send of the effects loop can send pretty hot signal levels if you have the master set too high and you might clip the input of the cab sim. Other than, that I don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t work 😊
IvanBassist thanks Ivan!! I will go with a southampton ictineo -> Mini studio-> radial JDI passive. i hope that will be better for blues for my Jazz Bass... lately i will complete the chain with a compressor. I’m staying tuned to your video... Great Ivan!!!
If I remember correctly i used this for the intro:: Bass > Darkglass X (no cab sim) > Mini Studio > Noble DI > Interface. For the other samples: Bass > Mini Studio > Neve RNDI
I bought the Nux preamp and even with the correct instructions it was not possible to get it to work properly. After the firmware update the pedal wasn't recognised anymore by my computer. So I am sending it back. That cab sim seems like a cool piece of hardware, but after that experience with the preamp I am opting for another brand.
@@IvanBassist The thing is, I do like the concept behind it but that software issue is a major hassle. There is a whole thread about it in the talkbass forum, where others were complaining about it as well. One of the solutions was to deinstall the firmware, and then install the new version. Rather than just installing the new version as it's supposed to be. I can't even connect to the pedal anymore, so basically I'm stuck.😐 Anyway, the Mini Studio seems like a cool piece of hardware and maybe I would have more luck with it. How does it compare to the Mooer Radar? And another thing, will you do a review of the Markbass Mark Vintage Preamp?
@@MrClassicmetal try sending an email to Nux. Maybe they can help :) I’ll try to get the Markbass preamp, but at the moment the channel is on hold, because I had an accident and can’t play at the moment (see latest video)
Hi Ivan, thank you very much for sharing. I really enjoy your content. A question about where to place the pedal in the signal chain. As you say, it is an advantage not to have the XLR output on the pedal, as you have the freedom to choose the direct box or some other device to connect to. At the end of the signal chain I use the Sansamp bass driver di v2, for the XLR output, as well as using the pre-output eq. In this case, what do you think about Nux mini Studio before or after Sansamp? I'd like to keep the Sansamp as a DI at the end, and have the eq at the end of the signal chain to do some final pre-out adjustment. Thanks a lot. Greetings.
Hey there! Hard to tell without knowing what else you have in the signal chain. I’d suggest simply to experiment and see what works the best for your needs
My new pedal isn't "recognized" by my Mac and I tried that little trick you mentioned with the footswitch and USB cable but nothing happened, unfortunately.
You do have the pedal hooked up to the power supply while plugging it into the computer via USB, right? If not, try that first. Otherwise, I’d reach out to NUX’s customer support and ask them if they can help out
Yeah, it’s pretty quiet! I know what you mean, I’ve got am OmniCab deluxe and depending on the settings It can be a bit noisy. It’s much more flexible, though!
Defintion and noise live in the same area, so it can be really hard get definition without noise. In the real world using mics, the noise is filtered out somewhat between the speaker and the mic but it's still there in the signal, you just don't hear it ;-)
Great demo! I'm considering buying one, but I have a question- since it has phone output, can I use to practice in home only with pedalboard? I usually play on headphones with pedalboard plugged into Ampeg portaflex 350 and then into headset, but with Mini Studio can I have decent practice sound without Ampeg amp?
Nice demo!!! I loved your IRs. Would you share some these? Please please!!! I like so much Aguilar DB 810 and Trace Elliot 410! Congratulations, your recordings are great and help us easily to choose best equipments.
Hi Ivan, does it make any sense to use IRs before sansamp which uses eq? I don't use any amp live so sansamp is last in chain, how will it affect the drive? Cheers bro
It sounds better to have them after a sansamp, because the sansamp already has a cab sim. However, i just tried it back and forth with my Tech 21 YYZ and it also sounds good with the Nux placed before the YYZ pedal

Not at the moment, but I switch things on the board depending on the gig. A lot depends on the genre/type of music that you’re playinf
