  • How to find the vertex of a parabola, the y-intercept and x-intercept of a parabolas and even how to do with a negative parabola, so-called happy and unhappy parabolas. A difficult GRE Quant topic, this video should help with GRE parabola examples.

The GRE and GMAT are two of most used graduate exams for those seeking to study a Masters Degree or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. The Graduate Record Exam and Graduate Management Admissions Test have been taken for over 50 years and are taken by approximately 600,000 and 300,000 people worldwide annually, respectively. These exams are typically taken between the ages of 18-40, by those who have completed, or are about to complete, their Bachelors Degree.

    Thanks for the video!
Shortcut: If factorization is tough for someone in parabola, y= ax^2 + bx + c
    1. X-intercept is '-b/2a' from the equation.
    2. Substitute X-intercept in the equation for 'x' and find 'y'.
    3. (X-int, Y-int) is your vertex

@@TheTestedTutor it may seem a lot, but it was absolutely worth investing time for me! It took me about 4 days and there are a couple of videos left. Actually, I have gathered all the possibles themes from the gmat quant into a list and then next to all of them I put the number of the theme from your video. So that’s why I can certainly say that you have made e.g 3 probability videos or 4 videos on remainders and divisibility, etc. The only themes that are not covered fully so far are: percentages, mode, range, odd and evens, decimals, quadrilaterals. But I won’t dare asking you to make videos of them, because it the amount of the themes you HAVE covered is enormous. I am a huge fan!

No, look at the graph in the video: you have a positive Y point and still all the parabola going downwards from that point. You can have also a unhappy parabola from a negative Y point, but that’s not the case presented in the formula
