I actually every thing it has to offer except for one thing. You have to click a button to see the newest deviations. When before you only had to log in and boom here's all the newest pieces of art. Comment on them before they disappear. Now they just show you stuff based on previous searches.
I wasn't really that active on DA due to how overwhelming it can be, but seeing it go down with a new layout kinda made me sad and upset, but hey, we got lots of other ways to get recognition with art, so it's not that bad ! But still, I hope they do something about it.

I've been using DeviantArt for close to 9 years, definitely not as long as some of the dA vets, but long enough to know that Eclipse just isn't as efficient as a format for the website than the classic format. The layout isn't as easy to read at a glance, messages are harder to sort through and even harder to cleanly delete, and even though hundreds of thousands of users gave relatively the same feedback on features that were changing, the staff just didn't listen and chose to ignore these concerns. It's where I got my start sharing my art online, and as much as I'll miss it dearly, I think I just have to expand elsewhere.

Alena Cecilia Diaz Díaz Sequera tons of new users go on deviantart everyday and many are young learning artists so it was better to have a friendly and simple interface instead of a rough, professional one which is hard to navigate. It looked like they were trying so hard to become modern and cool like all the other websites, and because of that it looks like shit.
They were test running the new interface since early last year I believe, you had the option to switch to the old interface until just a few days ago. They wanted users to get a feel for it before making it permanent!
I have been super active on DA before and finding you there too, it is so sad to see how so many left the site and it went dead... Like I miss the old lively days that have been part until 2017..amating Speedpaint and capturing the feelings many of us have!
it's sad to see the interface change. i appreciate how new and modern it is, but i certainly preferred using the old interface, because it was much easier for me to navigate the pages compared to now - it took some getting used to. everything feels overwhelmingly big as well, and i am going to dearly miss the customisation people could have with their profile page. i left DA a long while ago, but the issues i had with the site seem to be still there, and it's been 3 or so years. it's good to see you still active and your approach to it brings me hope. may it all be for the best.

Hyan, Nyanfood, Yamio, and others were my gateway into DA, and by extension, Picarto 6-7ish years ago. They led me to build a community over the years and transfer content to twitch, twitter and discord. That's where I met people that motivated me to move out of state and attend an art college, and I'm still here studying! If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't be an illustrator - DA was a huge part of that connection, so I'm grateful to all of you pioneering artists who were active and thriving on DA in the past. Seeing us move on is somber, but it feels like growth. Thank you for all you shared with us on DA Hyan and many others! To a better future with more artists involved than ever.
I love DA and it's such a great site to communicate with other artists, to do art trades, do commissions and all of that. I wish they never changed it, the old interface will always be in my heart. I only became a deviant a few months ago but I've been looking at the site for years. it's sad to believe that they're getting rid of it.

I used to be very active on deviant when I got truly interested in art some years ago. For what is worth I've discovered some wonderful artists there, like you, that I absolutely love and that have inspired me to start drawing 2 years ago. But I've slowly transitioned to other social media when possible to follow and appreciate the same and other wonderful artists (like youtube, twitter and instagram) Even for my own posting of art I feel like is not even worth it on Deviant anymore. It is very hard to reach people there when you are starting out. It is indeed sad to see this change forced on the users (I've also been using the default mode all this time even if eclipse was available)

I actually discovered you through DA back before anyone even conceived of the ill-designed Eclipse layout. And I have not logged into my DA account since they implemented the Eclipse/new layout as it is honestly such a huge hassle to navigate.

It's sad indeed. I've been there for almost 10 years. Deviantart has been my main spot for art and socializing, I've made tons of art and talked with so many people. But i'm afraid i cant stick around with Eclipse because it takes away the flexibility of most of that. So i'll be leaving that platform for another site.
I didnt know da meant deviant art, but yeah it is sad to see it go.. i loved browsing on there looking at your art and so much more, it was so fun and i do agree, a lot of people just thiink its a place for tracing or to complain about similar styles and its just gained a bad reputation cuz of that, but its actually a good website if you look past that i feel!!!
Probably an upopular opinion but I like eclipse. There are still lots of things that I wish would still work like the old version and I will miss it very dearly. But as someone who could never afford a core subscription, I'm just happy that my DA page doesn't look like a huge ugly mess anymore. (And I'm glad that eclipse comes with the green version so I don't have to say goodbye to that). But I also mostly only upload my pictures there and that's it.. so maybe I'm just not noticing which features were taken from us...
To me it's not a big miss on the site itself... I like the new scheme, the more minimalist menu exc... it's the buggy as hell update plus the "we won't support css editing anymore that s**s... I'll still be on DA but I won't support the site anymore, I didn't renew my core neither I'll probably ever do it again, I don't see the point anymore. The site has lost his essence now... it's still a platform who I'll use, not one I'll enjoy All thing aside, your art's always beautiful! It really convey the emotional impact of this moment ❤
I use DA a lot and its the only social media I really have for my art outside of PIXIV and I am not fond of a layout. But I'll still use it. And who knows it might not be bad
I'm glad I am not the only one upset about the change. There is so much wrong with it outside the aesthetics. Its broken now and not user friendly the slightest. Taking away categories and giving us three options of what it is instead? The search option is terrible, only gives you 100 results and won't let you view more, even refreshing or retyping your search still gives those same 100 results. *sigh* I'm gonna miss it. I announced my hiatus there just now. I refuse to continue putting my comics on there. I met so many people on there, I even discovered you there, and hurts knowing that the site still went through with the permanent change even with the massive outcry from the community protesting it. I hope that we all find a better platform to regrow :(
I unfortunately only started using DA when the new interface got implemented and when the new RUclips Studios came qwq I pretty much feel the same about both: They look much more stylish but have less features and, according to old users, are just worse customisation and statistics wise.
How is it that you're able to draw good anatomy without drawing the mapping first? Is it just that after long enough you can just eyeball that stuff? Btw, your art is amazing.
I have been a Deviantart Member for more than 12 years during my journey there, I make some new friends there, make a massive crossover project(that no one else did for it's unusually sensitive subject matter it deal upon) that mixes all of my favorite series, and become better person but deviantart goes downhill from either rampant Cyberbullying(I got myself bullied for my unique ideas and worldviews, deviantart staff's ignoring my reports over this make me resorts to making online petition over this) to Spambots(made worse from Eclipse's permanence) the only reason I'm still in Deviantart was: waiting for custom walfa models of my favorite characters as well Deviantart's monopoly on it's type of site
It’s much buggier and harder to navigate through your notifications than the old site. Notifications are definitely going to be a bit of an issue for ARPG (Art rpg) groups, since live notifications don’t show you all of your notifications. Plus, Deviantart Eclipse restricts customization (no custom text box backgrounds besides the ones you’re given, you can only pick images from your own submissions/stash, stamps are gone, you can’t use coding anymore to decorate/manage your page etc.), which is a problem when customization was one of the main things DA was known for.
I left my old DA community years ago due to just having enough of some of the drama and feeling uncomfortable. Honestly, I've recently come to regret how I dropped everything and hid for so long and started anew as I don't know if I could ever become close with my old friends that I've reconnected with from those days. I've been trying bit by bit to use the website still, but I mostly use it for tutorials/stock reference. I've been stuck with this new layout and it's a lot harder to get to my favorites/reference folders than from what it used to be. :c There isn't a website like DA.
For anyone that’s wondering why people are so upset and mad about the new update and say, “it’s just an update on a site why are you getting so emotional about this??” It’s because people have been using this site for so long (for me it’s 3 years but for others it could be 6 or 8 years) and grew an attachment to it for its friendly environment and its overall vibe, but the eclipse has stripped that away and replace it with a more rougher, more professional environment that basically radiates “ we can show we’re modern and cool too. “
I have neutral feelings on the change because although I did have a DA account, I didn't use it because I couldn't understand how to use it at all (and I found it oddly buggy, but it may have just been me...?). So I guess the only thing I can say is that I hope it gets better for the people who do use it and I wish you all the best.
To me it just looks like the new update looks like he phone version of deviant like always but Tbh I'm going to miss the signature green. It's been there for years and it's like a signature formate to always look at it. They should of just made it an option to make it dark mode like they've been having it for a while :/ ;-;

I think the worst part about all this is the mismanagement and lack of empathy from the new owners, the fact that they don't really take any feedback. Can't wait for them to go completely under because of their decisions.. it's sad and honestly I don't want the site to go under, but I hope it does so they understand what they're doing and hopefully learn from their mistakes.
dA is still dA, but god I'm not a fan of the new interface what so ever. I dont really use deviantart anymore so it doesn't apply to me so much, but the occassions I'll use it will I think I wouldn't be able to find it a bit as an inconvenience

Well I personally never liked DA... to complicated to use. I personally liked the new interface mostly because I am a big fan of dark mode UIs 🤷🏻♀️ But I never liked DA in general so for me it's no big deal. And it's just a new interface design? The site is still the same or not?

Will be going on 14 years using the site. I grew up with it, and I've been through most of the updates over the lifetime of the site. Change is good, but THIS change is really whats pushing me off the site entirely. Taking away the individuality of the users while making the site more similar to layouts like ArtStation is just a blatant attempt to bring in more industry professional artists while excluding its main hobbyist user base. Not to mention this update is buggy as hell and viewing art on a persons profile is a nightmare all in itself.

Aw I never really got to post my art on DA and I didn't have a computer for the longest time so I never thought to use it but I wish I had I could of met more artist then I know now. Love your art hyan it's stunning thank you for drawing your feelings

It's sad indeed. I've been there for almost 10 years. Deviantart has been my main spot for art and socializing, I've made tons of art and talked with so many people. But i'm afraid i cant stick around with Eclipse because it takes away the flexibility of most of that. So i'll be leaving that platform for another site.

and i do agree, a lot of people just thiink its a place for tracing or to complain about similar styles and its just gained a bad reputation cuz of that, but its actually a good website if you look past that i feel!!!
Probably an upopular opinion but I like eclipse. There are still lots of things that I wish would still work like the old version and I will miss it very dearly. But as someone who could never afford a core subscription, I'm just happy that my DA page doesn't look like a huge ugly mess anymore. (And I'm glad that eclipse comes with the green version so I don't have to say goodbye to that).
But I also mostly only upload my pictures there and that's it.. so maybe I'm just not noticing which features were taken from us...

To me it's not a big miss on the site itself... I like the new scheme, the more minimalist menu exc... it's the buggy as hell update plus the "we won't support css editing anymore that s**s...
I'll still be on DA but I won't support the site anymore, I didn't renew my core neither I'll probably ever do it again, I don't see the point anymore.
The site has lost his essence now... it's still a platform who I'll use, not one I'll enjoy

I use DA a lot and its the only social media I really have for my art outside of PIXIV and I am not fond of a layout. But I'll still use it. And who knows it might not be bad
I'm glad I am not the only one upset about the change. There is so much wrong with it outside the aesthetics. Its broken now and not user friendly the slightest. Taking away categories and giving us three options of what it is instead? The search option is terrible, only gives you 100 results and won't let you view more, even refreshing or retyping your search still gives those same 100 results. *sigh* I'm gonna miss it. I announced my hiatus there just now. I refuse to continue putting my comics on there. I met so many people on there, I even discovered you there, and hurts knowing that the site still went through with the permanent change even with the massive outcry from the community protesting it. I hope that we all find a better platform to regrow :(

I unfortunately only started using DA when the new interface got implemented and when the new RUclips Studios came qwq
I pretty much feel the same about both: They look much more stylish but have less features and, according to old users, are just worse customisation and statistics wise.
How is it that you're able to draw good anatomy without drawing the mapping first? Is it just that after long enough you can just eyeball that stuff? Btw, your art is amazing.

I have been a Deviantart Member for more than 12 years
during my journey there, I make some new friends there, make a massive crossover project(that no one else did for it's unusually sensitive subject matter it deal upon) that mixes all of my favorite series, and become better person
but deviantart goes downhill from either rampant Cyberbullying(I got myself bullied for my unique ideas and worldviews, deviantart staff's ignoring my reports over this make me resorts to making online petition over this) to Spambots(made worse from Eclipse's permanence)
the only reason I'm still in Deviantart was: waiting for custom walfa models of my favorite characters as well Deviantart's monopoly on it's type of site
Honestly I like the new Deviantart. I don't see the issue with it.
It’s much buggier and harder to navigate through your notifications than the old site. Notifications are definitely going to be a bit of an issue for ARPG (Art rpg) groups, since live notifications don’t show you all of your notifications. Plus, Deviantart Eclipse restricts customization (no custom text box backgrounds besides the ones you’re given, you can only pick images from your own submissions/stash, stamps are gone, you can’t use coding anymore to decorate/manage your page etc.), which is a problem when customization was one of the main things DA was known for.

That was only a thing for like a year, but recently they permanently changed everyone to the new interface, without the option to change back.
I left my old DA community years ago due to just having enough of some of the drama and feeling uncomfortable. Honestly, I've recently come to regret how I dropped everything and hid for so long and started anew as I don't know if I could ever become close with my old friends that I've reconnected with from those days. I've been trying bit by bit to use the website still, but I mostly use it for tutorials/stock reference. I've been stuck with this new layout and it's a lot harder to get to my favorites/reference folders than from what it used to be. :c There isn't a website like DA.

For anyone that’s wondering why people are so upset and mad about the new update and say, “it’s just an update on a site why are you getting so emotional about this??” It’s because people have been using this site for so long (for me it’s 3 years but for others it could be 6 or 8 years) and grew an attachment to it for its friendly environment and its overall vibe, but the eclipse has stripped that away and replace it with a more rougher, more professional environment that basically radiates “ we can show we’re modern and cool too. “

I have neutral feelings on the change because although I did have a DA account, I didn't use it because I couldn't understand how to use it at all (and I found it oddly buggy, but it may have just been me...?). So I guess the only thing I can say is that I hope it gets better for the people who do use it and I wish you all the best.

I think the worst part about all this is the mismanagement and lack of empathy from the new owners, the fact that they don't really take any feedback. Can't wait for them to go completely under because of their decisions.. it's sad and honestly I don't want the site to go under, but I hope it does so they understand what they're doing and hopefully learn from their mistakes.

dA is still dA, but god I'm not a fan of the new interface what so ever. I dont really use deviantart anymore so it doesn't apply to me so much, but the occassions I'll use it will I think I wouldn't be able to find it a bit as an inconvenience

when the eclipse theme first came out i absolutely hated it 😩 well i use da mobile the most so the update doesnt really affect me that much
Well I personally never liked DA... to complicated to use. I personally liked the new interface mostly because I am a big fan of dark mode UIs 🤷🏻♀️
But I never liked DA in general so for me it's no big deal.

Will be going on 14 years using the site. I grew up with it, and I've been through most of the updates over the lifetime of the site.
Change is good, but THIS change is really whats pushing me off the site entirely. Taking away the individuality of the users while making the site more similar to layouts like ArtStation is just a blatant attempt to bring in more industry professional artists while excluding its main hobbyist user base.
Not to mention this update is buggy as hell and viewing art on a persons profile is a nightmare all in itself.
