I live in Hong Kong and go to this street almost every weekend. You missed out on an amazing arrowana and sting Ray store, just one staircase over from David Chow. Also check out crystal shrimps next time. The owner flies to Japan and hand selects the best batch of fresh water shrimp selling berried females at like 4,000hkd+... There is so much more crazy shit to see in this street from tucan birds to rare reptiles, chameleons and a store that recently brought in a boat load of gulper cat fish. Hope you get a chance to check it out.
OK, I know who to ask next time I am back in HK... which may not be that long! =O
Can you ask them what brand those glass display tanks are with the display sump underneath!? Why dont they sell those in America! Beautiful Tanks!!!
@James Merryman jeez that projection
@@mikekell7104 I would recommend encouraging hobbyists to purchase captive bred animals, which are healthier and do not impact wild populations. If you just start spouting off insults you're not going to help anyone.
@@InappropriateReefer If you make another HK video can you get some shots of the chameleons? Chameleon keepers are hard up for chameleon content. Not like you spoiled fish fanciers that have hundreds of videos haha
I hate when my mom takes me to a fish store and she’s like, Andrew are we almost done, no mom. No I’m not done.
LOL I feel your pain
😂😂😂
amazed how clean many of the shop tanks are. I bet because of the intense competition you have to be.
To be honest, compared to HK and many other Asian countries, the US is terrible for aqua hobbyists.. sucks to be one here. Overpriced and low quality. So nice to see people with passion and knowledge there
W-_-T I live in California and surprisingly my LFS has high quality and decent prices
Way over priced here sadly
Hahaha...you are right bro...if about hobby. .like fish N dog...woow...USA is the best highest price ever...!!
Like went to Indonesia. ..man..!!..the dorry fish or we called as the letter six fish it's only worth for $5 as medium size...but in the US they sale it for $50 or more!!
I think in the US the cheapest fish is SALMON😄😄😄
Lol you think things are overpriced in the US try here in Australia just for a single rose bubble tip anemone you’re looking at $600+
You havent been to canada, 40$ clownfish, no local fisg stores unless you live in the big city, and our fish stores rarely sell rodi or saltwater
I would literally move to China or Japan just for their fish scene.
I seriously hope I get to go one day.
Oh, and I never cared for saltwater in the past.
I think your channel might have just changed that.
Welcome to the Freshwater Darkside ! >:]
She saw crab and lobster and said "I'm hungry" 😂 loved that
Before covid hit, this was literally my favorite place to go. I'd catch the high speed from Shenzhen and go see all the fish
5:00 - can you find a clean/open tank and sump like that in the U.S.?
That nano with the open sump refugium is awesome! What a great idea and looks cool as frick....
Super cool to see how they do it and so many nice tanks! (But is till feel bad for all the fish in bags!). Thanks for the updated tour!
Yeah the bagged fish arrangement is far from ideal, the silver lining is that the amount of foot traffic they get is insane, so hopefully the fish don't stay in there long!
If bagging them like that every morning is leaner than having tanks they must be selling a lot. Would love to see an interview with a shop owner some day :)
I want to say it's too bad there's regulations on bringing back stuff to the US, but the reality is it's probably good there are regulations.
I bet the locals have some amazing epic tanks. Next time you go back do some filming in their houses.
Chinas pet trade is wild. Im a firm believer that if you can acquire it ethically and give it a life as good as/better than wild, a pet it can be
Wowww!!! Would LOVE to visit Hong Kong's fish street market!! I would literally be there every day!! Awesome video!!
Hahaha I could see myself visiting every other day if I live in HK!
@@InappropriateReefer I just love all the stores and the second floor is cool too. Where all the "nice" stuff is
Zomg, it just amazing.
Funny to see Dave Chow Creation in the store, his a legend, his the one that influences me the most in Aquascaping.
That is awesome, I feel fortunate to have wandered into his store while there! Amazing scapes.
I would love the blueprints for one of those all in one refugium aquariums to build one of acrylic. Any chance you could request one for us?
Nice video but I have to say that the bagged fish is kinda f'ed up. Bagging and rebagging the fish every day must cause massive stress on the fish.
There is no denying that part. =/ Silver lining is that fish do get sold very quickly on that street so hopefully they don't stay in bags long.
Tony Graf -Agree. There must be a significant amount of fish that die.
What a massive waste of time also. Maybe it helps people view them before buying? Still seems like a racket to be at
Tony Graf I’ve seen a lot worse in Asia! People generally don’t care as much about the wellbeing of fish compared to the US.
Are the show tanks/sumps sold in the u.s?
Love HK fish street, very complete fresh and marine fish, corals
This is the video that got me into this hobby, and I’m happy to say that it is now have been a year of happy reefing!!!
Hi you show us a aquarium in your time at 4:05 please ask them how is it possible to hold the weight of water rock corals etc.. bring that I notice there is nothing but glass holding it what size glass are they using very cool looking tell us more about it please maybe in a video
That makes me cringe... only glass support?
This was a great vid, I'd love to visit one day, tha is so much for sharing.. subscribed!!!
Only mokyi can get me to watch a fish video almost 20min long without skipping through it. Lol
What is the eel looking black fish at 9:43 ??? I’ve never seen anything so majestic
8:54 clarkii clowns, they're my fav next to ocelarius
Wrong - Amphiprion latifasciatus (Madagascar anemonefish)
That deep water basslet though 😍😍 love the tour 👍 future reefsquad trip 🙌
I'm down, let's do it!
Tung Choi street is still on my places to visit with my camera, great views!
I'd never heard of this fish market until I saw one of your Instagram posts, now I can't stop watching videos of it !!!!
It's a shame you could not bring that Gem Tang home😫
Dude love love the Hong Kong tour. Thank you for bringing us along with you.
HOLY COW!!!! What an amazing video. I really enjoyed seeing all of the amazing corals, and the fresh water tanks were gorgeous!!! I really wish I had a way to run a planted tank, I just wouldn't want to use my well water. It doesn't really work well. Thanks for the amazing video Mok
i see fish and more fish .but where are the tanks for sale?
Thank you for sharing. It was cool to see other approaches to how people do business in our hobby. And all the ins and outs. Taught me something new today. I tip my hat to you sir. And Im happy I found your channel. Also saw you in George's video hope you got some great footage to share. Have an awsome day my fiend. 👌✌😎
I highly recommend checking out the aquascapes Dave Chow did for Kafnu Hong Kong, theres some short videos here on youtube. The guy is like an aquascape God!
I'm curious though, would it be possible to go there and pick out fish, and have them shipped to the us?
Very possible...... but it will cost you another arm and a leg to ship them back not even guarentee that they live through transport
The freshwater planted tanks were amazing.
Woa..this is so cool!!!
It's pretty wild there =) Thanks for watching and please say Hi to Banana for me!
Cool? Fish in small bags ? Gladd im not one od youre pets
@@hidematsumoto1708 Keeping fish in bags for transport is currently the safest method but you are free to invent a better one ^_^
omg this is like my fish paradise
Make a garden eel tank
Hm maybe...........!
Inappropriate Reefer or make a slug tank everyone loves slugs
Try going to indonesia and review sumenep market fish. Marine fish very good in there
That stacked tank set up do you know were I can get one or a website that sells it?
I watched your video about transporting fish on a flight within the US. Do you have information now about transporting fish on an international flight? 🐠 🙂
my uncle used to go to this market when he was a child 50yrs ago. He said it used to be from 4am to about 8-9am and it was only on the street (no stores) thats why all the fish are in little bags.. cause a tank would be pretty heavy to lug around
That is great to know, thank you for sharing this!
No the early morning street market is still around that’s more for traders.
It’s a few blocks away from this street
The clown in the sps tank are anemone fish
Fish street 👍🏻. Nice post.
Do you happen to know if they have Black Tangs also?
Hi Guys. I know its a Bit Late But did somebody know where you can buy this crazy Nano tank With the Display refugium. Im Searching but I cannot find a tank like this thanks
Are they reusing the bags they change every morning? Looks like a huge amount of plastic bags being used there every day :D Nice video!
I wathed this before I even have a reef tank, now that I have one, I just noticed 4:04 those torches are very close to the toadsstool, is that even safe?
OMG that place! Those corals and the planted tanks. That's driftwood. Gorg!
Okay, this is In-sane!!!
Lots of store at ground level were gone due to selling live stock of coral and fish cannot sustain the high rent, when compared to my first visit from the states. You will see more pet shop and restaurant in the coming years. A fish store rent can be up to $30,000 USD a month for 800sqf, Great video!
Holy smokes, 30k a month for rent? That’s a lot of fish they have to sell
Damn...
I am going hong Kong because I have knowed that they have axolotl
8:32 nice scapes but i don't think that that single tetra will be happy in there!
Another great video 👍
Thank you for watching! =)
Just been binge watching all your vids just subscribed keep up the good work
Subbed! Love the vid man, thanks for bringing us along!
Nice, i been there too☺️🥳amazing fish to ook at. Puffers are our worst nightmare, they ate all our small fish😆😂
they suffocate in the small bags if kept in them for more than about 12 hours
Ordered a shirt and subscribed. You are so cool and nice and humble. Love your channel! Ps I think Emily likes you :)
Thank you John for your support!! 🙏 I hope you’re right about Emily... 🤩
What an Awesome Market Place that Contains Aquatics!!!!!
very beautiful fish Tangs,Angels and Dempsey's are my favorite salt water fish
5:51 Amphiprion latifasciatus
7:04 Chaetodon daedalma
Thanks for the ID! The tail shape seems a little different as the Lat...?
They may just be older in your video than the ones you can google images from and it’s off the coast of Madagascar/South Africa. Could also may be a hybrid of A. lat and something else. A lat is just the closest from what I could find.
@@acoupleoffish527 Thank you, let me look more into this. They are really breathtaking in person!
i guess this is the “norm” outside of the US? bagged fish, tangs in very tight spaces... no tang police? lol, and coral colonies that looked like they were just taken out of the ocean.
Fantastic video... I have questions do you know how take ich out of tank and fish..
I believe most people recommend taking all fish out of the tank and keep in QT for a few months to treat, and leave the display tank empty. There is supposedly a med that could treat a reef tank directly but I have not tried it
Thanks Brother this is hard one I have to fight for.. I have 3 fishes die.. I hate too lost them..
The clownfish at 5:56 are currently considered to be a variety of Amphiprion latifasciatus from Madagascar, however some clownfish enthusiasts believe they are deserving of distinct species status.
Great video! Bring me a gemtang 🤣😉😀😀
Great vid can’t believe we’re paying over 1000$ for certain fish and there it’s in the lower hundreds wow
Very fun. Love the fish at 7:01
Pretty late and not sure if answered but:
Those are Clarkii Clowns, specifically they look like galaxy.
“Going down on you?”... now I’m thinking inappropriate thoughts.. 😩😩
those yellow faced angels at 7:00 are super expensive too. :)
Where did you pick up the 2 inch fish tank? Lol. Those look awesome
That looked like a wrought iron butterfly! Super expensive!
Fish street looks so awesome. I would spend all day there. 😝
Epic tank tour video! I'm moving to Hong Kong!! LOL.
woww amazing market...where is this fish maret located because I am planning to go to Hong Kong on holiday so I wana visit there too, thanks.
Holy crap those clown fish are COOL! Also, those planted tanks are masterpieces!🤤
The clownfish are Amphiprion latifasciatus (Madagascar anemonefish) - very rare.
in the eyes, I'd be like a kid in a -candy- fish store
I'm not too sure about the bagged fish. Stress must be sky high if fish are not sold quickly..and they have to go through that again and again.
I'm glad I broke the reef fever. Plant tanks are much more practical and down to Earth while still taking skill. That one D. Chow tank looked so reef like itself. I still like seeing reef tanks- the best ones. I'm cure knowing what it takes to keep them year after year.
Now that I got my paws on Bolbitis heudelotii..all other plants can be in due time. I got the best of them in the African water fern.
A plant so hard to find in the USA. I tell you what an effort to get them...
Do you know the brand of the tank that had the built in sump around 5:40 minutes? I totally want a setup like that
Miles Nguyen I would love to know aswell
Me too!
Do you mean the tank that is stacked on top of the sump? I believe it’s a custom job (and seems pretty straight forward, all glass, don’t remember seeing any extra bracing)
Our buddy Andy reached out to the store; looks like it’s a system they build at the store and they sell the set up + plumbing and pump for around $300 USD; can contact them for more details (not sure if they’d ship): www.fb.me/fishshome802
Can I hav ethe name and address of the store the guy bought the gem tang and candy basslet ?
Great video looks amazing in Hong Kong 🔥
Awesome tour as always bud
Where could I find an open sump system like that do you know of any websites that sells them
Awesome video Thank you.. Did you find out how much one of the display tanks with sump cost? And do you remember the store name or possibly know how to purchase one without making a trip there? Thanks again for another great video
What was the Orange fish called
everytime i saw a petshop i feel like im already home cause i stay there for like hour especially if buying a fish
Keep up the good work with the video. I love your videos
I live in Hong Kong and I’ve been here in monko 10000 times
how is it now a days after the covid pandemic?
What camera did you use for this video?
It's the Sony RX100m5
Unbelievable , amazing to see so many stores.
So I like in the US not sure where you live but if I went to fish street how could I buy something and get it back? I'm sure that would cause problems at customs.
i saw u post on insta
Thanks for following on IG as well! =)
Can’t wait to go here. This is sick!!!
those posters @11:00 are so beautiful. Is there any for sale somewhere?
Omg this is like fish heaven, would love to visit but I’m in America, do they ship fishes because there were a few that caught my eye
I have always loved going here, unfortunately I cant buy any live goods lol as bringing that back to USA is frowned upon hahaha
I wonder how much are arowana
